This was our 4th visit to this hotel after a 5 year break. Fantastic setting overlooking the sea/harbour. 5-10 min walk to Es Castell with lots of restaurants to choose from. Good level of service, clean rooms and very good choice of food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Car parking near the hotel remains a possible problem.
I really wanted to keep this a secret but that doesn't seem fair. Absolutely stunning small hotel with a jawdropping view of the Mahon waterway from the bar/restaurant and also the pool and sunloungers. Honestly, I PLANNED to walk into Mahon (but it was 33'C and there were so many cute boats to watch go up, go down... totally chilled.) The rooms are fabulous - SUPER comfy beds, great air conditioning, a fridge, fabulous shower, excellent breakfast, great pool, plenty of space. Dinner is good value at 30 euros (good/interesting choice of starters, salads and then good choice for meat-eaters; I had an amazing quinoa - normally I hate quinoa!! - and tofu dish which was so stunning I requested it again and emailed the hotel to get the recipe - which they gave me!). Felt much more like fine dining than other similar hotels I've been to. Overall the atmosphere is chilled and friendly. Guests super friendly. Spa pool is to die for. I can't wait to go back. Es Castell is a pretty little waterfront a pleasant 20 minutes walk away. Tapas at the hippie-looking bar Pindapoi (just around the corner) were SENSATIONAL. The smoked aubergine with chilli infused strawberries on toasts for about 7 euros were zingy fresh, filling and absolutely gorgeous. The town is sweet and the views are, as others have said, to die for. And, when it's not 33', apparently the walk into Mahon is very pleasant. One thing: sound proofing between rooms isn't always brilliant... Other than that, it's faultless so I forgive the couple in the next room for their over-theatrical screams and sighs!! ;)…
The position of this hotel is perfect the views are perfect the rooms are perfect the staff are as friendly as I’ve ever met The hotel is kept clean all the time spotless as a result this hotel attracts a very nice clientele would recommend 100%
Great hotel, great service and great staff. Hotel position overlooking the entrance to mahon Harbour. Many historical sites can be seen from the hotel. Food choice is generally very good both for breakfast and dinner.
Artiem Carlos III is in a fabulous location with a super view of the estuary at Es Castell and it's out of the downtown fray whilst being walkable to the restaurants of Es Castell harbour and a 10 min bus ride to Mahon @ €1.75 fare one-way (or an €8 taxi fare for 2 pax). The pool deck is magnificent, you could stay there all day if the sunbeds were more comfortable. The spa is a bit of a token effort and the treatments are expensive (nothing like the offering at the sister hotel Artiem Audax in Cala Galdana). We were two ladies who chose to each have a 'bargain' Petit Urban room rather than pooling funds for a room with a view. The Petit Urban offering is perfectly adequate for one, you've got eveything you need, except space and a view. It is would not be workable for a couple, imho, unless it was only for one or two nights, although it does sport a 5 foot bed there's absolutely no space to move comfortably around it and on the one occasion my friend came into my room with me on return from a day out when we found the maids at work in hers, it was hopeless! We were constantly falling over one another. Brits will be pleased to find a kettle (not a coffee machine). The bathroom has a good size walk-in shower stall (no tub) with ceiling fixed rainshower head and hand held spray, but no wall mount for the spray head, so if you want to luxuriate whilst avoiding getting your hair wet it's not possible. There is however however adequate bathroom storage, which is unusual in a small room. Everything worked well in our rooms - no complaints. We were there in mid September 2022 and despite facing the street noise was not a problem at night, it's a quiet residential neighbourhood.…
On our arrival , due to having arrived on an early flight , our room was not ready but we were immediately shown to The Spa where we could change into more suitable clothes. Our room was ready shortly after lunch and was spacious with a sea facing balcony. The room had obviously been thoroughly cleaned and this was the case throughout our stay. The breakfasts were excellent with a comprehensive selection of hot and cold dishes. We ate out most nights so have no comment on evening meals. The staff were excellent and it seems unfair to single anyone out.....however Raoul was extra specially helpful.
Very helpful and hard working staff especially the restaurant manage Raul. Bedrooms kept very clean and tidy by excellent room cleaning staff. Food very good both at breakfast and dinner. Very nice sea water pool.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcomed by a friendly team of staff and this extended throughout our stay. The hotel is very well located for walking into Cala Fonts and we also took a taxi down to Mahon harbour which was arranged for us - both take around 10 minutes. The views from the hotel pool area and our room were incredible and the quality of the food for breakfast and lunch was amazing. Overall one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and would definitely recommend.
The Artiem Carlos has a lovely location in the small town of Es Castell. The restaurant, pool area and most of the rooms have an uninterrupted view of the seaway leading to Mahon harbour (there are rooms that overlook the street and others that have a garage area impacting on the sea view). Our room overlooked the pool area and it was so nice sitting on our balcony, watching the boats pass by. The room is well equipped with a fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and toiletries. Other positives are the excellent shower and efficient air conditioning. The TV also had a few UK channels, which was a nice bonus. We are not huge sunbathers, but the pool area was a nice area to relax in - there were always sunbeds available and the area was kept clean and tidy. We were on half board and cannot fault the food quality and selection at both breakfast and dinner. Everything was freshly cooked and there was something for everyone- the salad bar and dessert buffet were my particular favourites. Es Castell itself is a nice town to walk around, with a lovely harbour area and a very interesting military museum. The local bus quickly takes you into Mahon and from there you can connect to other towns and resorts on the island. Cuitedella, the old capital, is worth a visit. Finally, a special mention must go to the staff who work so hard. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and the restaurant staff are friendly and efficient.…
Outside pool area now looking very tired.Decking looking old and in places a trip hazard. The large parasols ripped and bent. The pool surround is breaking up and is getting into the pool. While the hotel is 4 star the pool area and Sun Lounge area is not.
