I booked this hotel in July for a stay in August. My booking via Hotels.com was accepted and i paid for the night. The hotel then contacted me a few weeks later and said they would not be open and asked me to cancel my booking which I did. I was then surprised to be told that because i cancelled my booking i would not be entitled to a refund!! despite many emails explaining the circumstances i have not received a refund from either party. I can only conclude this is a SCAM that has been allowed via a third party. Terrible service.

We stayed here for a week while on Tenerife with our two young girls. The only way we were able to hike every day was to bribe them with the amazing pool! It was so warm and the girls loved it every night after a long hike! The breakfast is good, breads, eggs, yogurt, fruit and coffee. The restaurant has a delish menu and the girls loved ice cream after every meal. We had the family room which had access to the roof deck that had amazing sunsets and great for drinking some wine. It’s nothing fancy but great if you are just looking for a spot to sleep. Great location to many hikes and sel Teide. If driving a standard you should be competent and comfortable driving a stick. The roads are narrow and steep and at many times you are on the cliffs edge as a bus passes by. My husband loved driving on the mountain side roads, me not so much but the hotel is great location. You can walk down the hill a bit to a little corner store with ice creams and cold drinks. Great family run hotel and highly recommend.

We had a very nice week in this hotel. It's a beautiful old building. Enjoyed our room, the breakfast, the spa and the restaurant. Very nice service. No complaints. It's colder and more cloudy then at the beach but perfect for trips to El Teide and hiking.

We chose to stay at El Nogal after a recommendation from friends. We were not disappointed We live here in Tenerife and have our own business so needed somewhere we could get away and relax whilst on 24 hour call out. The room was spotless and the staff were very friendly..Christopher on reception and Margarita in the restaurant were both amazing. The spa was fantastic. The hotel itself was very rustic and tranquil. Will definitely visit again

We first visited Hotel El Nogal in 2006 and found it enchanting hence our decision to return. At that time, the spa area was new, now it is looking rather tired and in need of a bit of a makeover. The hotel is old and quirky and full of character. Our room was of good size with a lovely balcony and an amazing view through the trees outside the window of La Gomera. The bathroom is on the small side but it was fine. There is an outdoor pool with various outside seating areas. The bed was comfy although it would have been better with two pillows each rather than one rather flat one. The staff are friendly especially in reception. There is bus service from the cross roads in the village which goes up to Villaflor or down to Los Cristianos but it only runs infrequently.

This is a charming, rambling, country house hotel set in the countryside. Wonderful staircase, lovely ornate balconies. It is a very old building and yes there are parts which could do with a little TLC but don't let that stop you from going. The food in the restaurant is outstanding, we only stopped 1 night but we had lunch and dinner, I would go again just for that. Unfortunately the chef seems to have no control over the breakfast because that was terrible. Dreadful 'juice' out of a machine. Such a pity because it could be so easily improved. It was too cold to use the outdoor pool but the indoor pool was really warm, almost as warm as the Jacuzzi.

A lovely place on the way to the peak of El Teide, with an amazing restaurant! Food is really prepared with a love for taste and is genuinely finger licking good. Despite not attaining a star, Michelin does visit the place for the past few years, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were awarded a star at some point in the (near) future. We stayed for one week as a family and especially the indoor pool/yakuzi/spa is brilliant when you’ve had enough of topping up your tan in the outdoor pool. The whole place has a lovely feel to it and it is really great value for money.

We loved this place and will return. Great food, lovely outdoor and indoor pool, 18th century converted farmhouse, without the hi-end prices of some of the nearby competition. The indoor spa ( which traditionally means bathing in hot, aerated water - not massage & "pampering") made me feel like I was in a Roman bath. I read with incredulity some of the negative reviews; I often think on Trip Advisor how unhappy these people must be to be so particular and set in their ways! (And what on earth do they expect for the cost). This is an old rustic building with wooden panellling and, yes, fairly outdated (but clean!) bathrooms. I can't vouch for the telly not working as I'm not so sad to ever switch it on, however one point I will concede is that the bed was a bit hard and the top cover had seen better days. Idyria on reception was charming and helpful and all of the staff made our stay very enjoyable. I hope to visit again next year.

I read some critical comments on this hotel. Yes, this hotel is not modern, the bath room is relatively small. But otherwis you feel like in former times. The decoration is astonishing, the site is wonderful and the rooms are quiet. Eating in the restaurant is delicious in the local style. Breakfast is rich. One point to have to know about- The hotel is rural and therefore in the countryside and you better have a car. Overall nice journey.
