Hotel Landmar Playa La Arena is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere, with guests enjoying the live music and entertainment, although a few have noted noise issues. The rooms are typically found to be clean and spacious, boasting beautiful views, yet there are mentions of slightly dated decor. High standards of cleanliness throughout are often highlighted, and while the service is generally acclaimed for being friendly and professional, there are occasional reports of inconsistency.
Its location is appreciated for beach proximity, despite being somewhat isolated from major tourist spots. Amenities are well-regarded, especially with the Platinum upgrade, though the value is debated when considering the cost of extras.

Detailed Reviews
A fair observation from my time here would be that this hotels’ priority is focusing on making as much extra money possible for guests rather than providing a great holiday experience. Basic essentials that would find in any other hotel incur extra charges here. Two examples include the use of the room safe for €3 a day and the use of an iron for €2 per 2 hours. Situated at the edge of the hotel is a lovely infinity pool with great views of the sea and surrounded by all new sun-beds and even a large hot tub. Unfortunately, the use of all these also include additional charges priced at €25 per guest, per night. To enjoy any named spirits like Smirnoff and Gordon’s will cost you an extra €14 per guest per night. To use a beach towel you must give a €10 cash deposit per towel and you’re only allowed to exchange it for a clean towel once a week.
Food and drink...very disorganised
During the day you can help yourself to basic drinks such as beer and soft drinks but anything else requires going to the pool bar but be prepared to wait as this is not always manned.
If you wanted a vodka and orange for example then you have to get the vodka from the bar staff and then go to a separate machine to get the orange yourself. In the main restaurant you can’t help yourself to drinks and they provide table service instead. Which sounds good but we were half way though our main course on two of the nights and we had to get up and go find a waiter to ask for drinks as we still hadn’t been served. Hopefully you the like the food on offer during your first day at this hotel because it will also be on offer on your 2nd day, and you’re 3rd....Not much choice on offer as described in many other reviews and not great quality. The snack bar in the pool area had a lot of flys on the table and some of the buffet food so they definitely need to invest in some ways of keeping them away from the food area.
Rooms
Rooms are done to a high standard with a large balcony and are kept very clean. TV has the main channels in English. Large bathroom with 2 showers. Had to wait until 4pm for our room to be ready which is not the check in time advertised so be prepared to wait. Cleaner came into our room at around 9 each morning which is far too early to be out the room when you’re on holiday. If you are late checking out then the hotel will charge you a full nights rate.
Pool area
Two large pools, one of which is heated to around 30 degrees. Plenty of sun-beds so don’t struggle trying to find one. Direct access onto the beach front too.

Response from GuestExperience T, Director de Relaciones Públicas at Hotel Landmar Playa La Arena
Responded Jan 13, 2020
Dear Customer, First of all I would like to thank you for choosing us for your holiday in Tenerife as well as for the time spent transmitting your experience. Regarding your comment, I would like to reply in detail. The additional charge associated with the use of the infinity pool is not for the use of the infinity pool. This service is called Platinum Club and consists of a superior category of room located on the top floors of the hotel with full coffee maker and minibar during the stay. A Dock station that will make time in your room more pleasant along with a pillow menu that will make your rest time like being in the clouds. The services do not end there, but it has special reserved areas in the main restaurant with freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast and the possibility of booking up to 3 times our à la carte restaurant to have a dinner with a different service along with his family and thus fulfill the maximum possible experiences. Finally, the Platinum club ends with a VIP lounge with premium snacks and drinks until 12 at night in the lobby area after having spent a relaxing day in our infinity pool with jacuzzi accompanied by a Premium category snack bar. We understand that € 25 per night is not a great supplement if in return our customers enjoy these areas and extra services. The Buffet Restaurant of the Hotel offers a big choice of different kind of meals which changes daily and every service. The Restaurant apart of international food also has available six theme nights, a variety of cheese and salad stations, fish and meat dishes, pasta and rice apart of the desserts and ice cream. The buffet is based on show cooking and hot stations enabling the guest to decide the cooking time of their meal providing fresh food prepared at the moment. We are sorry to hear that our gastronomic offer did not meet the guests' expectations. We understand that taste is a personal matter and due to this the Hotel offers a large variety of both, international and local food to satisfy the preferences of all the guests. Regarding the theme of the rooms, I would like to inform you that the rate that the hotel offers to book in our hotel depends on the season and the level of occupancy but always, the price delivered to our clients is the price per night regardless of the time of Arrival of our customers. Adding that, the flight schedule is not managed through the hotel but is managed by the customers, choosing at your convenience the departure time at the destination and the time of arrival in Tenerife. Finally, we are very sorry we could not meet the expectations you had in our hotel. We welcome your comments on our establishment, any negative aspect that is appreciated by our customers is a help to improve. We hope from the heart that you can give us a chance on a new occasion to be able to change your opinion about our service and facilities.

The hotel is very impressive, has lovely comfortable seating areas inside and out. Super clean. Wine and beer from all inclusive both acceptable. Food was good, we were especially impressed with the Christmas dinner as we are seafood lovers - half lobsters, king prawns, mussels you name it. The snack bar round the pool is good if you didn't feel like going up to the main dinning area. Pleasant entertainment in the evening in the Piano bar and later in the Music Hall. 3 pools , 2 of which are in the normal package, one geared up for families and is more lively and heated with slides and sometimes inflatables , aqua aerobics and Animation team. The other pool quieter but lovely. Towels are provided from reception for a 10 euro deposit, you can change them 2 times in a week. Plenty of sunbeds so no need to save them before breakfast ! Traveled with elderly father and hired a mobility scooter for a week 105 euros - he loved it and was able to get around the hotel and down in to the town using the hotel glass lift which takes you right to the beach and the parade of shops and restaurants. There is a fridge in the room but the only down side is that if you want a kettle in your room they charge 4 euro per day so we just bought a cheap little one from a local shop and 'borrowed' cups from the bar but we had to hide the cups or the maid will take them back. All in all a lovely place to stay.

We went away as a family of 5 adults looking for a relaxing week away. We arrived at the hotel with fantastic service and was advised our rooms had been upgraded to superior even, fantastic for my disabled mum.
We had read before we weary about the Adults Only Premium Club which we had decided to go ahead with. There are different options as part of it but we chose the best one to suit us which was an amazing addition. The infinity pool and the private bar/ food area was AMAZING, service was fantastic, all staff including the lifeguards were brilliant. The private bar area in the evening was also brilliant too, you can sit separately if you wish or you can sit out in the wonderful balcony watching the sunset. Lots of seating areas in the lobby and bar area too, it’s very comfortable and pleasant.
We had a couple of issues with the promised mini bar not arriving for two days of our stay which we had paid for. Do not put the room key near your phones or any other electronics, otherwise it wipes it and you can’t get into your room. A lot of trips to reception we had.
Also you have to pay €10 per towel (refundable) and you have to pay for an iron or kettle if you want one in the room. You can refill your bottles of water for free at any of the restaurants or bars.
Aside from these minor issues, I would highly recommend, food great, Service great, especially Victor on Reception and in all exactly what 5 adults wanted - THANK YOU!

Landmar Hotel, Player de la Arena
We stayed here for three nights on a short break to Tenerife. The first impression on walking in to the vast, light and spacious reception area is ‘wow!’ There is so much greenery and plants with water fountains down below, it has a slight rain forest feel to it. Very cleverly designed.
Check-in was very efficient and smooth once we got to the front. It would be more helpful to have more Reception staff available at busy times.
Aside from that, everything was just about perfect!
We were allocated Room 559 which as spacious and well equipped with everything for our stay.
The bed was super king size and was 2 single beds put together. I have to say that it was not the most comfortable of beds as it was quite firm but would be ok if you prefer this.
The room safe is charged at €3 per day and is accessed by a card which (you are given on payment) and when inserted into the safe, allows you to open and lock the safe.
It was my birthday during our stay and we had the mini bar stocked with some little extras and a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely surprise.
The pool area was vast and there were plenty of good quality sun beds. There are three pools, one sun heated and two heated including the children’s pool. You pay €10 per towel which is refunded when you hand them back to Reception at the end of your stay.
Plants and gardens surrounding the pool area and indoors were immaculately kept.
All areas, inside and out, were kept in pristine and clean condition. There are plenty of seating areas in the vast Reception area and a beautiful patio area outside with sofas, where you have an elevated perspective to watch the sunset over the island La Gomo.
There are a few negative reviews about the ‘all inclusive’ food but my view is, don’t pay for an ‘all inclusive’ hotel if you expect an ‘a la carte’ service. For me, the food was delicious, well stocked had a great variation of different foods on offer to account for all tastes and preferences. I also observed the waiting staff to work very hard being attentive and responsive to clearing the tables.
Summary:
A great place to stay in Player de la Arena (or Los Gigantes which is a short distance away), excellent accommodation, great food and service in the restaurants, immaculately clean and everything was in pristine condition. Would highly recommend and would definitely go again...
However, it would be helpful to have more than one Reception staff available at busy times as there can be a time consuming wait which stops you enjoying all that this lovely hotel has to offer!

Had another wonderful 2 weeks holiday at the Be Live. Our party consisted of 8 adults and 2 children staying for different periods over 20 days.
We stayed in a pool/seaview room on the 6th floor with amazing views and spotless room. The cleaning staff are all friendly and will make up the room every day if you would let them.
All the staff are welcoming and friendly as always. The lads on reception are quick, efficient and have a laugh. They helped or answered all our questions easily and all taxis ordered came immediately. The bar and waiting staff were all friendly and very hard working especially Jesus in the restaurant and Maria? In the adults club.
The food was great, some themed nights are better than others but we always found something to eat. The tapas bar is always great if you're not so hungry. The pool bar is also good in the day. If you fancy a good Sunday roast though the Blarney Stone, on the front is a must.
The 2 main pools have plenty of loungers and we never had problems getting seats together. We spent more time round the entertainment pool as we had children with us for the 1st week and the entertainment staff were amazing. They made a fuss of the children but left the adults alone if you didn't want to join in. This pool is heated but the quiet pool is not so can be a little cool.
We upgraded to the adults club for 3 days on the 2nd week as we just missed out earlier in the year and it was well worth it. We only did 3 days as our Swedish friends had arrived and couldn't upgrade but it was definitely worth it. There's a large hot tub, the pool is lovely, and the food area is clean with delicious food and self serve premium drinks. Thanks to the chef and staff who are continuously checking the food is replenished and the area is cleaned. There is also a separate lounge near the piano bar with drinks, snacks, tv and computer. You also get a separate area in the restaurant with better wine.
We didn't see much of the evening entertainment as we spent a lot of time with local friends at the Blarney Stone and Legends on the front and also had a couple of nights out in Los Gigantes but the ABBA night is great and the music in the piano bar is always a nice change.
Another amazing holiday and have just booked for November, adults club, and cannot wait to return.

We spent one week here and found an excellent hotel in a great location.
It is very large and we wouldnt normally stay in one so big but it was a late booking so we went for it and found it was lovely. Our room was huge with a large bathroom with shower cubicle AND a bath. Massive queensize beds and nice decor.
and a large balcony. Playa arena is a small resort with a handful of shops bars and restaurants and if you turn left out of the hotel and keep walking you come to a coastal path with more nice restaurants overlooking the sea and then yet more in the resort of Los Gigantes Playa Arena beach is a good size but the sea was very rough. The hotel was fabulously clean everywhere and plenty of seating and sunbeds around the pools. Food was of good quality and varied and plentiful The all inclusive drinks were fine and large measures were poured. The mixers are fine too despite what one reviewer said, they were very good quality we found. The only thing I didnt like was the local brandy. Our first 5 days here were peaceful and quiet then ( we didnt realise) half term occured and the last 3 days were very busy and noisy so avoid school holidays if you are like us and allergic to children!! The only negatives are : the dining hall is massive impersonal and too busy and noisy so we tried the tapas bar a couple of nights which is quieter and the al a carte restaurant was a nice change but you ony get to use this once in your 7 days which is a pity as I woud have paid a little to use it more. Hand sanitisers are not prominnent enough in the snack bar and there was only one in the main restaurant and not used much A maitre d on the door would be a nice touch and the enforcement of sanitisers would be welcome. Lots of the kids were using their fingers and hands to handle the food which was off putting. Just one more thing take a stand alone mirror ladies for doing your hair as there is no plug socket near a mirror ! All in all an excellent week and we would have no problem recommending this hotel

Location of hotel is great, right on the front of Playa del Arena, with shops and restaurants a stones throw away.
Every member of staff is polite, smiling and helpful, from the reception to bar to cleaning staff. There are also a lot of staff, which isn’t always the case at AI hotels.
Food and drink is excellent, and if staying for a week you will have the option to book a la carte for one night, which I would recommend. The standard restaurant food is the best AI we have had in Europe, and includes themed nights and live cooking stations. Oriental and Italian nights were the best. There are plenty of salad, pudding and ‘plain’ options for the fussy eaters. Beer, wine (all colours) and gin were unexpectedly very good. Cocktails, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are all slush by the pool. Very refreshing, but incredibly sweet if left to melt. Decent selection of soft drinks, and the hot drink machines gives good coffee. Drinks are mostly self service which works well.
There is a large entertainment team, 9 or so, who run activities throughout the day. They all work hard, are very good and will try to get everyone involved without being pushy.
Entertainment is hit and miss in the main area, but there is normally a good pianist/guitarist in the piano (lobby) bar 7-10ish.
There are multiple professional photographers around the pool and you have the option to buy photos (7EUR for electronic or 10EUR for print). Beware no prices are written anywhere. If interested in a private photo shoot, i strongly suggest agreeing final photo price in advance to avoid late surprises or disappointment.
The hotel is modern, well maintained and very clean throughout. Overall an excellent hotel and would recommend for couples or families!
Final Tips:
If you’ve hired a car, there is plenty of free public parking in the roads around the hotel, rather than paying for underground hotel parking
‘Side sea view’ rooms actually have an excellent sea view. We were in one of these on the north side of the hotel, and this has an excellent view of the sea and Los Gigantes cliffs.

Our two-week standard, limited sea view room/balcony directly overlooked an adjoining building site. We were told all standard rooms overlooked the building site and we could change to another higher standard room (still overlooking the building site) for an extra 10 euros per day or to a sea/pool view room for an extra 20 euros per day. If Tui had told us this before booking/travelling, we would have had the choice either to stay elsewhere or pay the 2 week pre-arrival online reduced price for the sea/pool view room of £97 instead of 280 euros. We felt we had been mis-sold our holiday, Tui and the reception staff were very unhelpful and they refused to change our room.
Eating in the restaurant can be a nightmare, it's often very difficult to find a table. Large sections of the restaurant are sectioned off, even when busy, or have signs on them e.g. 'Bridge Club' (even though these tables are never used).

+1
We have just returned from a 7 day holiday and were very impressed from start to finish. There is certainly a wow factor when you walk in with marble pillars and glass lifts in the atrium. Professional staff on check in and we were soon in our room.
The bedrooms are spotlessly clean and bright. The beds are two single pushes together and there is also a sofa. The bathroom we had included a shower cubicle as well as a bath with a shower over it. The room had a lovely balcony and we were on the front of the hotel. In this position there balcony doesn’t get much sun but there are rooms on the other side of the hotel but at a supplement.
Huge choice in the Buffett restaurant and the food was lovely. Hot and tasty. During the day the pool bar serves snacks including hot dogs and burgers and in the evening this area turns into the A la Carte restaurant. All Inclusive guests can eat here once per week and again the food was lovely.
Drinks wise the basic package serves local spirits which were fine. Wine, Prosecco and beer are on tap and you help yourself.
Entertainment was pretty good and most seemed to enjoy it.
The pools were lovely and there were plenty of sun beds.
Great quality hotel we’ll definitely go back

We arrived Boxing Day and the room was lovely. Spacious, clean and the beds are extremely comfy. The only thing that let the room down was the view of the derelict building opposite and by derelict I mean half knocked down (this is meant to be a sea view room).
Pool side is great as there is lots of beds however the second pool is freezing and unbearable to get in never mind swim.
The food is mediocre, I find everything is Luke warm at its best and I have lived mainly on cheese rolls all week as it seems to be the only thing appetising. It’s very repetitive and bland. A few people we spoke to seem to have upset stomachs.
Now the adults only is a must and we booked for our last three days which made the holiday however all we got was a better pool and premium drinks. We never received the coffee machine, the drinks fridge, the speaker or the bath robe/slippers let alone an upgrade to a premium room. I would say it’s worth an upgrade because of the pool, the beds and the lovely cocktails which are served however the food again lets this down due to it only being cold food served such as cheese, Parma ham or bread.
All in all it’s been a lovely holiday to get away and we have met some really nice people. The hotel has got lots of potential and with the new management let’s see what happens.
I may return.

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing Hotel Playa La Arena for your recent holiday to Tenerife and for taking the time to write your review about it. We are extremely sorry to read that you were not happy with specific aspects as our aim is to to provide an excellent holiday experience our guests and our team works very hard for that. It is with great concern that we read that the room location was not as anticipated and expected. Our reception staff and the guest experience team are available at destination to assist our guests if reported shortcomings and to take timely remedial actions. We are happy to read that you enjoyed the Adult club service, please be informed that when you pay for the 3-day pass for the Infinity pool, it does not include the facilities in the rooms, neither the upgrade of the room. While would you make an upgrade from the beginning of your holidays, the upgrade of the room is considered (due to the availability) We are sorry to read that the selection of the food in the Infinity area was not up to your satisfaction. Our chefs team is working very hard to satisfy all the dietary remarks and the refined Vip menu. According to your comments about food choice, we feel very sorry that the variety of food was not to your liking. We inform you that we comply strictly with the menu wheel that we have established and offer daily service lunch and dinner range of products for all kinds of nationalities, such as raw vegetables, appetisers, meats, fish, vegetables, fruits and desserts, as well as cooking. Moreover, we have different thematic during the night in our main restaurant: Italian, Mexican, Spanish, Oriental, Canarian, Hindu and International. Let us explain that we have two more restaurants opened during the night: La Taberna "Pintxos & Tapas" and our restaurant a la carte Mylos where you can enjoy another kind of products. While we trust that the rest of facilities and services were to your liking, we hope that we will have the chance to welcome you back once again in future and demonstrate to you our familiar high level of hospitality and quality standards. Kind regards, Guest Experience

I think I have seen that you can only use it if you have booked directly with the hotel, not if it’s through a travel company
It’s much better and cheaper to book it with your tour company or before arriving though they may have Availability when you arrive
Dont think there is. There is booking agents down next to the Lava resturant you might be able to book a trip there.
No all drinks are through drinks machines. Variety of coffee and hot water for different teas.
