Wonderful (and very romantic)! We stayed in a deluxe geodome overlooking the lake and loved it: the close contact with nature while having all the required comforts. A must for nature lovers!! We've stayed in several places in Uganda and can confirm Byoona is execellent value for money.

Isolated, a trip to get to, but well worth it if you are looking for a relaxing few days with great views of a lake and little to do. Excellent food, well priced rooms and facilities and draws a nice, interesting and open minded crowd.

Went here for a second time to wind down from a week full of birthday surprises by my sister. Guessed wrong, there was no winding down, as all my friends made it as well as a major surprise! It was wonderful. Staff was great too, beautiful domes, mine full of balloons. Food varies a bit in quality, but they manage... More

People usually stay on the shores of lake bunyonyi but nothing beats staying on the lake on one of the islands. Byoona Amagara is the only place which is cheap and has a drom. So it probably is your only choice. Having said that, the place is amazing, food is really good...the tilapia and crayfish avocado amazing.

Being on an island on a lake, hidden in South West Uganda, it was a truly relaxing experience away from the urban chaos. Staying at this eco-friendly lodge was a first for me and I enjoyed being woken up by the birds and hearing the swish of canoes on the lake. Swimming in the only bilharzia free lake in Uganda... We stayed at Byoona Amagara back in 2012 and I still have fond memories of the lodge. I always wish to return and re-live the experience. At first, I didn't know what to expect since the money we paid for the rent was very affordable. Once we got there, I was surprised with the tranquility, the views from the rooms... More

This place was recommended by fellow travelers and I am glad I went. Being way out on an island the food was very good and the restaurant prices very fair. I'd go just for that if I could! Having beatiful geodesic huts to stay in is a bonus! Don't miss out wondering across the tiny island!

We stayed here a couple of nights - had checked out the web site and decided on the budget rooms, but these were being renovated so weren't available. Not all the info in the web site is accurate so phone to verify prices. The island and scenery are beautiful, very peaceful and relaxing, and oh so good to take a... More

Because they had an almost full house I ended up having the family cottage to myself - which was WAY more than one person alone needs. But it was very good- just wish I had someone to share it with. I'm a birder and enjoyed exploring around the trails - lots to see. One minor annoyance, I took a dugout... More

Byoona Amagara is the perfect place to stay on Lake Bunyoni - peaceful and relaxing with beautiful open-fronted accommodation at bargain prices, and amazing home cooked, hearty food. The staff do their utmost to make you feel at home, and are happy to arrange guided treks and canoe hire etc. We took a dug-our canoe around the lake of a... More
