We discovered Seeds of Hope because a friend raved to us about this gorgeous haven of rest. Seeds of Hope provide a secure car park where their boat collects you to take you to their island. The service is exceptional, the tree house cottages are in a stunning location, immaculately clean (the first time I’ve ever come across a place where the blankets were freshly washed and fragrant!) with decks overlooking the water, the food was way better than other places we’ve stayed at on the other islands, they light fires for you in the evenings either outside by the water or in their ‘Snug House’ where there’s a lounge with board games available & a pot belly stove. The staff will bring you early morning coffee before you have your breakfast in the restaurant (even up until 11am) The canoes are available for just 5,000 Ugs (£1!) an hour. There’s a swimming deck, swinging seat, hammock set up in their garden, walks you can take around the island where you can encounter the friendly local neighbours who have also been helped by Seeds of Hopes impressive community projects. There’s absolutely nothing negative to say about this excluded hideaway. I would suggest contacting them on watsapp on +256 772 531 019 where Philip can answer any questions and make a booking. The road all the way to Bunyonyi has also been newly paved and completed which makes it a much easier journey (6 hours from Kampala) If you’re not able to travel out of Uganda at the moment, I highly recommend heading to Seeds of Hope for a welcome break.

Our first visit to Seeds of Hope and would definitely stay again.. Lovely peaceful lakeside setting with great birdlife and otters! We especially enjoyed taking a dugout and exploring nearby islands. Evening light across lake is magical! Occasional errors with food ordering but very friendly relaxed staff team.. A great place to unwind!

We needed a bit of relaxation after finishing our Rwanda trip and before heading off to explore Uganda, so we booked three nights at seeds of hope. In short: we found the perfect place. Itambira Island can only be reached by boat (10 dollar return trip, if you come by car you can leave your vehicle in a guarded car park), so it's the perfect place to unwind, read a good book and do nothing. The houses are lovely, ours was directly at the water with a huge porch overlooking the lake (there are budget and traditional house options available, but in our opinion the wooden houses with porch looked the best) . It was basic, yet comfortable with an own bathroom,a comfortable bed and a moscito net. There is good internet in the restaurant, but not the rooms, which we actually enjoyed as it meant we could plan our onward travel but also read a book on our porch without feeling tempted to look at our phones every 5 minutes. The staff was super nice and the food in the restaurant tasty (with the exception of the pizza which tasted sweet). It took us a while to figure out that we were the only ones there and we even had the small seaside area with sun loungers all to ourselves (you can swim here as the lake is croc, hippo and billharzia free). It really felt like the perfect retreat. The place was set up by a Christian NGO and you can book trips, e.g. Boat trips from them as well (which we didn't do). They also rent canoos - but be aware that they are not all too easy to handle.

This is a wonderful slice of paradise. You boat over from the mainland and stay in cool cabins that are well maintained, clean, and comfortable. The Seeds of Hope staff is friendly and responsive. The food was outstanding. We took a boat ride around Punishment Island and other places, stopping at the local market to experience the culture. I views were spectacular.

The team at Itambira Island not only provide beautiful accommodation in a relaxing place but have just started to arrange trips to see this part of Uganda. We stayed five nights in a simple, clean and comfortable tree house with a beautiful view of the lake. The staff were friendly, helpful and fun. The food was substantial and tasty. We then travelled with a driver, Ivan, to see the mountain gorillas in Bwindi and visit the Queen Elizabeth Park. The team arranged our permits to see the gorillas and all accommodation and game drives. All we had to do was enjoy which we really did! We returned to Itambira for the last two nights of our trip and once again received a warm and friendly welcome. Added to all this Seeds of Hope is a 'not for profit' organisation which supports the local community. We were able to see first hand how this has been done in a really well thought out and sustainable way. We are grateful to the Itambira team for giving us such an amazing experience
