Hidden among large grey granite boulders and mopani trees, Hoada (pronounce Waada) Campsite offers travellers a serene home in the wilderness. The area, which is home to a variety of animals, offers spectacular views and a number of hiking trails and 4×4 tracks to explore. This sensational landscape is home to Namibia’s uniquely adapted desert elephant, with its longer legs and smaller tusks, which are frequent visitors to the area. These and a number of larger plains game, reptiles and invertebrates are abundant on the Grootberg Plateau and river valleys that carve deep furrows into the landscape, waiting to be discovered by those passing through. All six luxury camp sites can easily accommodate eight persons, with ample designated areas for four tents or vehicles with roof-top tents. The Group campsite can take up to 14 guests and have male & female ablution facilities.

Do not go past it. The sign on the road is easy to miss. Nice place and beautiful campgrounds but a little bit expensive. The bathrooms are well done and the fire pit also has a good area to prepare the food and the fire pit is right next to the donkey which makes it easier to keep the water warm. There is a loo with a view and a lot of shade. The donkey is started by the staff and there is a nice way to walk to the village if you need to move after a long drive.
We did not test the pool because we were travelling in winter. But there also is a beautiful bar for a sundowner with a great view into the landscape.
Start driving early when leaving. The land looks like in fog and there is a lot of wildlife wandering around in the early mornings.

Unfortunately there is no electricity on the Camp, but that is the only negative. There are shaded areas to Park your car and even Set up your roof top tent. Shower, Toilette where well integrated into the stones, the site was very clean, donkey was fired up in the evening and morning. The cosy Pool area and Bar Deck are beautiful. The Staffel was helpful and they offered braai Packs and firewood.

After a long day's driving (including a popped tyre) we arrived at Hoada Campsite ready to settle down and relax. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Each campsite has it's own shower, toilet, shaded kitchen area and firepit which are built into the surrounding rocks. The pool and bar area is up a few steps so there is a lovely view from up there. I would stay there again and I recommend this campsite.

I had high expectations coming from Spitskoppe.
So disappointed in Hoada Campsite, I cannot recommend it to others unfortunately. The camp is not at all like the photos on the website.
I visit Namibia often and camp 90% of the time , Hoada is not up to standard.
I got campsite nr1 and the place desperately needs a tune up/upgrade. Took a walkabout and the other sites did not look much better.
It is a pitty because the staff were super nice and friendly + its such a magnificent place in amongst the boulders (loads of potential).
My site was dirty with building rubble, condom wrappers old toilet paper. See pics added.
I took a shower right away to cool off and the shower drain is clogged, the shower mat is floating.
The staff offered to make a fire for the donkey hot water when I arrived ,but I said it was ok as I was cooking in the 40 deg C heat anyway.
The drain is an open hole with a piece of wood covering some of it. There is a 1m deep big hole which I suspect is a new drain just open for anybody to step into.
The place needs an upgrade.
The beers were cold at the bar and expensive. The little splash pool is not worth it either rather go take a shower at your campsite to cool off.
The views from the bar were magnificent and again the bar lady was very nice and friendly.
The braai pack was expensive, after I cleaned the disgusting braai grid, I could braai and the meat was delicious 👌
After cooking my meal at night on the fire I wanted to dispose of some rubbish and got a surprize from a rather big fat Bia snake. See pic added.
Bring bug spray, flies are in your face ALL THE TIME.

We spent one night at Haoda Campsite in September 2024 . The campsite is surrounded by amazing landscape , it has two beautiful terraces : one by the pool and one by the bar where you can enjoy the view with a cold drink . The campsites are extremely spacious , each one with a huge tent underneath which you can park the car , the kitchen area with sink , shower with hot water and flush toilet . Everything is well maintained and really clean .
We took a cultural walk with guide Deska :it’s an hour walk to the village where he comes from and still lives . He explained us a lot about community organization , politics and everyday life there. It was extremely interesting and we found it a perfect completion after days we’ve spent watching wildlife : we finally learned something about the people living around . We highly recommend staying at Hoada Campsite and you should definitely take your time for a cultural walk

My husband and I had a wonderful stay and the best stargazing and most relaxing sleep at the Hoada campsite. We are so glad we found this place! The campsites are all beautifully set among granite boulders and have their own private shower and toilet! A beautiful sunset deck awaits for drinks and the staff were super friendly and attentive! Thanks for a very informative and educational tour to your farm, Deska! We highly recommend staying at the Hoada campsites! Daniela and Steve

We have stayed in their tent (they have campsites and a few equipped tents with private ablutions) for one night out of our 6 weeks Namibia trip (not our first Namibia trip). It is by far one of the nicest such facility in Namibia (and Namibia features many similar facilities). Location, service and facility, are all top notch. Lovely little pool and rock-top bar compliment the lovely camp. They are managed by the same group of the Grootberg Lodge (25 minutes away) and one is welcome to use the superb swimming pool and bar/restaurant of the lodge (amazing views and location). Only one drawback to the tent option is a lack of dining table (for those who do not drive around with fully equiiped 4x4). A table would be a great addition to the little outdoor kitchen adn BBQ area.

We intended on staying 1 or 2 nights but ended up staying longer. This place is very special indeed. It is difficult to discribe with words. Just go there. You'll love it. it is so isolated and quiet but with all the comforts campers need. The swimming pool in the boulders is very special. The staff were so warm hearted and friendly. What lovely people. This was the highlight of our trip.

We loved this campsite and stayed 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and everything was very well thought out, from the little open air kitchen to the bathroom between the rocks. And of course you have plenty of privacy with lots of space between the campsites. We were able to do a "farm tour" with Deska one morning which was fantastic and very educational for both us and our kids. Leave early and take lots of water! One thing to be aware of, the "pool" is a splash pool (knee deep), cleverly situated between the rocks with a beautiful view and a little bar with drinks. We really loved it, but if you are expecting a resort pool you might not.

One of our favorite campsites of our whole trip.
Magical rock formations, incredible sunsets and private isolated campsites.
The swimming-pool and bar area overlooking the whole desert was the stuff of upmarket resorts. The open bathroom and shower built into the rocks gave a feeling of being close to nature.
We did a self-guided 1h30m walk around the area. The only problem was the annoying little fly insect things that were relentless during the day. Apart from that
this campsite is not to be missed if you are in Northern Namibia.

Hi,
There are walking trails and mountain bikes at Hoada campsite. We also offer Guided walks on top of the plateau at Grootberg Lodge.
After a scrumptious breakfast on the veranda of the restaurant, guests who prefer an early start to the day will depart at around 7.30am for a 3 hour walk on top of the plateau. Our knowledgeable guide will help to spot the various shy inhabitants of the plateau. Other highlights of the walk include local flora, the amazing rock formations of the Etendeka Mountains.
Hi Zonoli,
I am not sure about the exact distance, but it is about an hours walk from the campsite.
Hi,
Unfortunately not, the lodge is 25km from the campsite.
