We loved this campsite and stayed 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and everything was very well thought out, from the little open air kitchen to the bathroom between the rocks. And of course you have plenty of privacy with lots of space between the campsites. We were able to do a "farm tour" with Deska one morning which was fantastic and very educational for both us and our kids. Leave early and take lots of water! One thing to be aware of, the "pool" is a splash pool (knee deep), cleverly situated between the rocks with a beautiful view and a little bar with drinks. We really loved it, but if you are expecting a resort pool you might not.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Warm water and beautiful private camping sites set between big rocky outcrops. Loved the atmosphere. Seperate kitchen area, shower and seperate toilet made for welcome privacy.
One of our favorite campsites of our whole trip. Magical rock formations, incredible sunsets and private isolated campsites. The swimming-pool and bar area overlooking the whole desert was the stuff of upmarket resorts. The open bathroom and shower built into the rocks gave a feeling of being close to nature. We did a self-guided 1h30m walk around the area. The only problem was the annoying little fly insect things that were relentless during the day. Apart from that this campsite is not to be missed if you are in Northern Namibia.
We intended on staying 1 or 2 nights but ended up staying longer. This place is very special indeed. It is difficult to discribe with words. Just go there. You'll love it. it is so isolated and quiet but with all the comforts campers need. The swimming pool in the boulders is very special. The staff were so warm hearted and friendly. What lovely people. This was the highlight of our trip.
Travelled as a group of 5. Bathroom and shower area built among the rocks was so beautiful. Bar and pool wonderful too. We also booked the desert elephant safari from Grootberg lodge and that was a truly amazing experience!
The tents at the campsite are well distributed between the big grey boulders. This provides more than enough privacy, even if fully occupied. Each site has two shade nets that are high enough for cars with roof-top tents. Even for a camper with a normal tent it provides lots of shade for car and supplies. The staff were friendly, quick and helpful - on arrival I was greeted by name and informed that the donkey for hot water had already been lit - a great help after a long day on hot and dusty roads. The greatest asset of Hoada is the amazing landscape - the boulders are an invitation to explore and find the best spots for sunrise and sunset - a photographers paradise. And with the incredible Grootberg Pass just around the corner the possibilities are endless.
We just recently camped at this side in October 2019 and were extremely disappointed with our experience. Last year this camp was one of our favorites, due to the facilities. This year we found our camp spot nr 4 dirty with a dead gecko in the bathroom as well as a dirty braai grid. The Swimmingpool was not cleaned and people were unable to use it. It was one of the major features why we booked this camp again. When we asked for it to be cleaned, we were told by the people on side that the pump has been broken for a long time and could not get fixed. It also did not seem as they would put effort into fixing it soon. Based oN these aspects I would not recommend to stay at this camp anymore.
From the reception to our departure we loved every second at Hoada! The campsites are private and not on top of each other. The safari tents are well equipped. Elephant tracking to find the desert adapted elephants is expensive but worth every cent. Loved Hoada and will return. Special complements to Juliane Idan that went out of her way to assist us.
One of Namibia's camping gems. Sites are very nice in a beautiful location between Etosha and the Grootberg Pass. Tents are very clean and well maintained. Very pleasant site to watch the sunset and enjoy a drink (you need to bring your own drinks). Highly recommended camping site.
The setting among big boulders is super nice. You get your privacy and the bathroom built into the rocks was awesome. The boulders are nice, easy and safe to climb for kids - ours loved it and they even gave names to several of their "climbing routes". All the staff was very friendly and I felt a real interest in people coming into their campsite. We opted for Damara culture tour out of their program offer and we couldn´t do better. It was a very private and unique experience for us in a real Damara village where people were so nice. We loved it! Thanks a lot, Hoada :-) Prepare for no electricity, beautiful skies and no possibility to do some minor shopping in the campsite so prepare yourself accordingly.
