There is so much to say about this hotel that may not fit here, and that is coming from someone who almost never ever writes a review, but avidly reads them! The service at this hotel has compelled me to take the time to actually write one.
While Mardin in Turkey is beyond important, as the cradle of civilization, it may have not made it on everyone's bucket list BUT it should. The entire town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
And when in Mardin, you should ABSOLUTELY stay at Mardius Tarihi Konak. Konak is the term used for the old style of manors/mansions in Turkey, and in Mardin these konaks are in the Artuqid architectural style. This hotel is a grand konak and boasts eleven boutique rooms. It has been immaculately restored down to every little detail to its original grandeur. Staying here, feels like you are part and parcel of history, albeit, very luxuriously.
Service: The staff and management of the hotel are ALL over and above courteous, helpful, efficient, responsive and responsible. Special thanks to Hızır Bey and Dilber Hanım. The staff stop at nothing to make sure your stay is as comfortable and seamless as possible. It is as if they are reading your mind and jumping ahead to meet your needs before it even formulates in your mind! Ask them for anything... personal needs, private tours, what to see, eat, do, drink etc..... all their recommendations and arrangements for us turned out to be the very best the city had to offer.
Rooms: The rooms are of various sizes and named after the family members that once occupied that room. Every one is greeted with an offering of snacks and fruits and the guests are even invited to indulge in the minibar, courtesy of the hotel.
Cleanliness: Super clean, spotless. Towels and linens... honestly I have never seen this grade, not at any five star hotel that I have stayed at. I guarantee that you will notice the softness and the thickness of the bath step mat!
Food: Breakfast is not only wonderful but doesn't have a set hour where you have to be ushered in and out. Breakfast will be set for you, at the time that you specify and I must say, from the breakfast cream to the butter brought in directly from farm to table, you will have a hard time leaving the breakfast table. Any other dishes on top of the elaborate Turkish breakfast, of course will be made for you at your request, with a smile.
Also, they have won a gastronomy award for their culinary expertise. Note local meals for lunch or dinner are made to order for you and your party, based on your food preferences.
Location: Central! Mardin is a town of up and down steps, much like Positano. This hotel thank God is located just below the main town mosque/bazaar/main street, so while you have to do the steps, you don't have to do as many and you get to stay in an architecturally gorgeous location which is what people come here to take photos of.
Other: The hotel overlooks the Mesopotamian fertile plain and the views are amazing. There is such tranquility and quiet that anyone needing it will appreciate. Huge outdoor space for lounging anytime of day, overlooking the views.

How lucky I am that this is a historical mansion that I have stayed in many times over the years. My second home. It offers its guests a unique accommodation experience. In addition to this historical building, you feel like the kings in fairy tales thanks to the hosting of its experienced staff.
Its rooms, which are filled with stories, designed based on its 700-year history, provide guests with the opportunity to find peace in the past of Mardin. In addition, The reustorant is full gastronomic stop with its indescribable delicious dishes and service quality.
Every minute you spend in this historical mansion, which is easy to reach but difficult to leave, will take you away from the reality of the world and bring you peace in the magnificent view of Mesopotamia.

I am Rolan Mardini from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. My stay in the hotel from 29 October till 31 October was a wonderful stay. I felt like I am deep in the history. The building makes you feel that you are in away in the history. The interior, room, service and care that I was experiencing during my three days stay was unforgettable. Mardius Tarihi Konak is a 700 years old stone Mansion with a local architecture of Mardin. The hotel has stunning views of the city. We stayed two nights in this mansion with family. We really enjoyed with our stay. Rooms have all the amenities you need in a hotel. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was one of the best in Anatolia. WiFi is free. We will return again. Highly recommended.

Think I was their first guest in 6 or 7 months due to Covid and I was treated like a Sultan! Amazing welcome, helping me with my car in the terribly narrow and maze-like Mardin streets, performing some financial transactions in Turkish for me, giving me an upgraded room. Wonderful food! The best view possibly in the world (and I've been to 80 countries)! Wonderful people! Overall, one of my greatest hotel finds in all the world. I shall definitely be back...

Spent 1 night here and it was the best experience so far we had. Rooms were amazing (small leakage in toilet though), service was extraordinary (like St Regis standard already), the view was majestic, it was a perfect stay. They arranged a taxi to bring us around for 250 lira. Really loved our stay here and will be back someday

This hotel and staff are truly amazing. To be able to stay in such a historic konak is a once in a lifetime experience. The hospitality of the staff is second to none. The room and hotel are an authentic 500 year old konak with modern conveniences. Hopefully we will be able to return to Mardin and stay at this property again because no hotel in Mardin can match Mardius Tarihi Konak.
