Nick, the best host imaginable ran an excellent, unspoilt camp in a wonderful wilderness area. What I loved was how down to earth the whole experience was - no faffing around doing unnecessary things - no fussy accommodation - dining of a high standard and best of all, in a group around the table with the inestimable, very knowledgeable Nick...

This was our second visit to Katavi Wilderness Camp. The first time was in the wet season which looked nicer but was more difficult to get to all areas due to the black cotton soil. This time it was in the dry season which did make it easier to spot game but they didn't all come down to the river...

This lodge is very well run and the manager, Meta, is an experienced and gracious hostess. It is an amazing experience to be housed in comfortable platformed tents with running water surrounded by such abundant wildlife. Elephants and hippos wander the grounds at will so precautions are necessary when leaving your "room". Generally you are escorted by a guide to...

My first safari was in 1961, so I have some perspective on what East Africa was like before the mini-busses took over the popular locations. During our visit to the Katavi park we had wonderful sightings of all the big 5 except rhino, tons of hippos, as well as many species of antelope (impala, topi, bushbuck, hartebeest, roan), other plains...

Katavi is a wonderful place, if a little difficult to get to, requires a lot of travelling. The camp itself is small and comfortable, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and this year we had Mette as our host who proved to be delightful company. We did three full day safaris whilst there, 8am to 6pm with Obidiah as...

We have just read the review by Swedish visitors in July and can only refute everything they said about the camp and the people. We visited in August and stayed four days during which time we had superb safaris, food, service and the pleasure of the company of Nick, the Manager, at mealtimes and around the camp fire. He had...

Katavi Wildlife Camp, Katavi My son and i are rather experienced Safaritourists. Before Katavi we have been to 15 different parks in 5 different countries on six different Safari-trips. The most important thing on a Safari is to have a good guide who knows the area, knows how to spot and track game and who can listen to the customers...

There are 2 sides to every story and in this instance, this is certainly true. Nick Greaves is a highly respected professional in his field and registered a report concerning this particular visit whilst the guests were still in Camp. We are not going to address each point, but we have never heard of a single case of Trypanosomiasis in...

We spent 4 nights at Katavi Wildlife camp at the end of our safari holiday. It is quite remote and unspoilt. On all our game drives we saw many animals and birds in what we can only describe as a more natural setting. We met no other game vehicles during our drives which added to the true wilderness feel. Romano...

Our stay at Katavi started when we were leaving Ruaha. While we waited for the pilot to arrive we were shown the plane that we would be flying in. At first, I thought that our guide was joking as it looked like a dinky toy as it was so small, only a 4 seater. Once we had cleared the elephants,...
