This was our 3rd visit in as many years at this time of the year and every thing was as good and as clean as normal. We arrived at lunch time our room was not ready so went for some lunch and a drink across the road Irish Bar. We returned around 2ish and checked in with ease no problems or queues. Our Room was 705 on the top floor with spacious balcony and a lovely view. The room was of good size and very clean and tidy. We stayed on a Bed and Breakfast Basis as we like to go out in the evening for dinner as there are plenty of restaurants in the town within easy reach. Breakfast is good more or less anything you could want we found the staff at breakfast very helpful and friendly and were permanently cleaning with anti bac because of the Coronavirus which had arrived on the island a couple of weeks before we arrived. The hotel has a lovely pool area once again very clean with nice views overlooking the sea. There is a little shop on site that is very handy for what ever you may need during your stay also a takeaway pizza shop and a laundrett. Our week went really quick and would like to thank the staff for a lovely stay and we are looking forward to returning next March. Hope all staff are well..…
I'm home now can I just say you staff at this hotel are unbelievable the cleaners my god they were out on stairways doing floors doing lifts you are without a doubt the very best also the reception staff outstanding I was the last person to leave your hotel I will return when we are all back to normal. Also the pizza on site is amazingly tasty great staff in there as well. I had no pool for 9 days no going out only to the shop but having said that just to sit on the patio with a beer and look at the sea was enough for me thanks to all of you in this harsh time we all face ... Keep safe keep well and fingers crossed I will see you all in October..thank you xxxxx
Great location & big apartment overlooking the pool & marina (been before). On lockdown they kept the restaurant open so we could have a buffet evening meal for 12 euros each incl wine ! but we didn't have breakfast (which is fab too). The bar was also open & we were allowed to use the facilities at the adjoining sister hotel till that closed. The desk helped with tracking my return flight daily which thankfully left as scheduled (Ryanair on Fri 20th prob the last scheduled goer) The small shop on-site had all that we needed. Strangest St Patricks Day ever with an impromptu cabaret from a group who were not too boisterous!
Having watched the appartments being built from the hotel, we have stayed at the appartments every February since it was built We find the staff very helpfull, the cleaners hard working and reliable. The resturant is clean, the food great and the staff friendly. The rooms are great with views of the local harbour and the salt water swimming pool is clean and warm. The whole attmosphere of the hotel is calm and efficiant which suits us. We look forward to future holidays there.
On arrival it was late evening the lobby was light and airy and the gentleman (Andy) at reception was very friendly and checked us in quickly, he allowed us to leave out suitcase at reception so that we could grab a bite to eat before the restaurant closed at 9.30pm which was nice of him. Our allocated Room was 531, there are several lifts servicing all levels throughout the hotel but these are quite small and only hold about 4 or 5 people so you could have a bit of a wait in the busy months but not an issue whilst we were there. On entering our room we were immediately impressed by the size and although a bit dated it was clean, the room had a large balcony with 2 chair and a small table that overlooked the paved / pool area and the marina. There were 2 single beds in the bedroom that I thought were quiet hard. In the lounge area a L shape sofa (which can be made into 2 beds), coffee table, also a very small TV (looks out of place on the wall!) but only a few English channels (BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Sky News) you need to get the remote control from reception at a 10E deposit. No kettle was supplied but it had a large fridge and 2 hobs and coffee maker. The air condition was very good and although we didn't need it. The bathroom was also dates and had both shower cubicle and also a shower over the bath with plenty hot water, 2 large sinks with complimentary shower gel and shampoo there was also a hair drier (but only 1200w, which according to my wife is not powerful enough if you have long hair!) but was fine for me! The room was serviced every day and new towels etc provided as required and kept very clean. The pool area was well kept and spacious with plenty comfortable sun loungers and fixed parasols and we never had any issue getting a lounger, probably due to it being February. The pool bar open at about 11ish and served the usual fare but also did a daily special meal at 6.5E including a drink. The main pool was large and there is also a seperate kid’s pool, the water was cold so I only ventured in a couple times! We spent most of our day on the pool terrace but with it being early season and the sun being lower in the sky some of the main pool area lost the sun at about 3pm. We found it quite windy most days and although a warm wind there was no shelter but it kept you cool and still fine to lye in, but think in general Golf de Sur is windy area. There is also a nice walk along the front to San Blas (20 minutes’ walk) There is no loud music playing at the pool area and no activities, if you want to join these you need to walk through to the Aguamarina Hotel where there is a full day of activities. Surprisingly, in this day and age there was no free wifi even in any of the public areas! so you need to buy from reception, but the mobile signal was good if you have use of mobile data. We were on Half Board and can say that the choice was good at breakfast, Bacon (not back bacon), sausage, eggs etc, omelettes, pancakes, bakery selection and continental meat, cheese, yogurt etc, so will more or less will cater for almost all tastes including Gluten free (but need to ask for Gluten free) Dinner also had a good selection and a few nights were themed, plenty selection of salads, fried meats, casseroles as well as veg. Dessert were similar nightly with cream cakes, flambé banana, jelly, fruit etc. There are also a few restaurants on the promenade at the back of the hotel as well as a few on the street out front if you are SC. The indoor spa and fitness area is located in the adjacent hotel but only a few minutes’ walk through the joining gardens. The indoor pool is heated and there’s a sauna too (5E cost). The fitness area has plenty of different weight machines, 2 cross trainer, 2 bikes, a weight bench as well as free weights, a gym ball and mats. I used the gym most days. The only negative point is that it only opens from 1000 until 1800, so if you want to go early before breakfast or later once the sun has gone down you have no chance, In my opinion I think the times need to be extended to 0800 – 2000, or at least 0800 – 1200 then 1600 – 2000 which I think would be better serve guests. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Gema Aguamarina Apartments and wouldn't hesitate in going back there again. A few tips: The supermarket in the hotel is quite pricy but so are the other 2 supermarkets that are close by, even the Hyper Dino in San Blas is quite expensive. So if you are SC it maybe be worth getting a taxi to the Lidl or Mercadona Pool towels can be provided at a 10E deposit. There’s a Irish pub just across the road (The Wildgeese) and it has entertainment most nights but tends to get busy so recommend you go early if you want a seat inside.…
