In the summer of 2007 this delightful villa was transformed into a small luxurious and charming hotel. La Madrugada offers 7 extremely stylish bedrooms, 1 exclusive suite with a private balcony and Jacuzzi, a comfortable lounge with a bar and a library. During the day tasty snacks and light meals are served, if required. You are most welcome to dine in our comfortable gastronomic restaurant Casa Del Maco which is only a few kilometres away.

This luxury B&B is unique and has a beautiful view of the Calpe Sea side Rock formation. It is managed by Pieter. He does it very well and has great care for detail. The venue has a tennis court and a large swimming pool which can be accessed directly from the ground floor rooms. Upon arrival we were given a free upgrade from the standard room to a larger room. People come here for rest and quiet. It is mainly adults only. The organization is open and informal and invites to mingle with other guests. Breakfast is available at a great price/quality ratio. The venue provides a variety of snacks and good salads. The B&B does not have a full restaurant, but it has agreements with various take a ways to provide for external food. Good wines are available . Parking is free on the B&B terrain which is fully enclosed. The main gate can be opened with a remote control. Upon our request additional laundry services were available at a very reasonable price. Great uncomplicated service at a right price. We come back.…

From the moment you set foot into La Madrugada you are made to feel extremely welcome by Pieter and his gorgeous cocker spaniel Sammy. Nothing is too much trouble, and his attention to detail does not go unnoticed. We were staying three nights as two couples for our friend’s 25th Wedding Anniversary and I had asked Pieter to arrange flowers in our friend’s room which were beautiful. The views at La Madrugada are spectacular looking down onto the rock at Calpe. The terrace is large with extremely high quality loungers and tables and chairs. The pool is large and beautifully clear. There are only 8 rooms so it is never crowded, and there is plenty of space for everyone to feel they are in their own piece of Spanish luxury. This was our second visit and did not disappoint. I remembered that Pieter was a gin lover and the last time I had my very first Nordes gin -a Spanish gin from Galicia. Once again we sipped our nordes and fevertree tonic with a slice of orange looking across the terrace down to Calpe..... just magic! Pieter prepares an excellent continental breakfast and snacks are also available at lunchtime. He does not cater for evening meals. Either you go out as we did one night to one of the very many restaurants in the region, OR Pieter will arrange for a local restaurant to deliver. Choices are varied from Italian to Indian and also included an excellent Spanish menu which we also tried. I cannot recommend La Madrugada highly enough for couples who like that little bit extra for a few days away who want some peace and relaxation, and particularly if they enjoy gin! Perched high on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean, La Madrugada is the perfect spot for a quiet getaway. The hotel, which was once the private Villa of Sarah Brightman, has only 8 rooms. We were among the last guests before it closed due to Covid-19 and could not have been more delighted. Pieter, the owner is a gracious host and very helpful in every way. Sumptuous breakfasts are served on the beautiful glassed in terrace overlooking the pool and the distant sea. Although Madrugada does not serve dinner, Pieter happily can order from one of the nearby restaurants which serve some of the freshest seafood we have tasted. We stayed in one of the Deluxe doubles with a pool and sea view. The room was extremely comfortable and well provisioned with direct access to the pool terrace. The hotel itself is a bit off the beaten path but very private with an electronic gate. We look forward to our return.…

We booked Hotel La Madrugada for 4 nights for a very chilled out,relaxing break prior to a hectic week with all the family. Well, wow did it deliver!! This boutique hotel is nothing short of amazing. From fantastic views of Calpe to the extremely comfortable beds. It is so peaceful and tranquil, it is the ideal place to recharge the batteries. Pieter is the perfect host, right from the minute he meets you on the drive nothing is too much trouble right down to collecting food from a local restaurant so you can eat at the hotel with the stunning views as a backdrop. The biggest compliment I can pay Peter is that he makes you feel so at ease you don’t feel you are in a hotel, you feel as if you are his guest in his home! This has been a truly memorable few days, something we will remember for a very long time and we will most definitely recommend friends to book a visit. We will be back, not sure when but we will return for another visit. Is it possible to award more than 5 stars? If it was I would be doing so.…

As soon as we entered the remote controlled gates we were astounded. Peter our host was there to greet us and immediately we knew this was going to be a memorable holiday. His attention to the smallest detail was superb. He went out of his way to accomodate your every need. Our bedroom was on the ground floor leading out onto a fabulous pool area. Very comfortable loungers with towels for sunbathing on and separate ones for pool use. Breakfast at a small additional charge set you up for the day. Recommendations for restaurants proved to be outstanding. You do need a car to get around. This hotel offers peace and tranquility. We honestly felt like it was our own villa with services added in. We were so impressed that we have rebooked for next year. Bedroom very comfortable with the biggest bath I have ever seen. The wyhole of the grounds are well maintained and everywhere is spotlessly clean.…

From the original enquiry to the time we left Peter was the perfect host. Nothing was to much trouble. The hotel is situated in an ideal place. Peaceful and quiet with glorious views but close enough even by taxi to restaurants if needed. A perfect chill out place which will thoroughly recharge your batteries. Mum and I had a wonderful time and will definitely be back some time.

As many others have said before us, this is a fantastic hotel, and experience. You truly feel as though you are in the home of a friend,Pieter and his assistant Anna have perfected the knack of being attentive, but unobtrusive. When we were there there were only another 3 couples staying, who went out during the day, so we had the place to ourselves, adding to the illusion that this was our home from home. Breakfast is varied and plentiful, and the snack menu available throughout the day has enough choices to offer variety. Whilst there are a couple of restaurants who will deliver to the property for an evening meal, when you have spent all day lying by the glorious pool soaking in the amazing views over Calp, it’s only right that you visit either Benissa or Calp for your dinner (though it does mean one has to drive!) both locations offer a choice of eateries, and if you follow Peiter’s recommendations you won’t go far wrong. I cannot recommend this venue highly enough, and I think we have finally found our secret bolt hole where you truly feel as though you are staying at a friends. I would love to offer some criticisms to try and put you off visiting this hotel, but they would be lies. Everything was perfect and by far the best hotel I used in the area in over 20 years. …

Perfect for couples looking for a quite get away, the hotel only has 7 rooms so it never felt busy and when we stayed everyone ended up talking to each other and our fantastic host Pieter made dinner for us one night. Our room was huge and opened up onto the swimming pool. We were delighted to be met with his dogs Luna and Sammy on arrival! It’s a great location to explore Calpe, Benissa and Moraira. We would love to go back x

La Madrugada is a wonderful location, set in the hills with a picturesque view of Calp. Pieter, the host, is really welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. There is a delicious breakfast and other snacks available. He also gave us some great recommendations for local restaurants. It is a very tranquil setting and a wonderful place to unwind.
