This marvelous B&B and its hosts do not really need another five-star review; they have so many already! But they deserve one. My stay was perfect.
The grounds are lovely, my room was beautiful and spacious, and the bathroom was luxurious. The furnishings and fabrics are artistic and sophisticated. Yes. But what raised this lovely B&B above the others was the hosts, Nico and Igor.

When I arrived on October 28, I felt they must be exhausted by the long season, but you would never know it. I cannot imagine a warmer welcome or more active attention to a guest’s comfort. At breakfast, there was great conversation, and Igor offered detailed advice and maps for visiting the area. His enthusiasm and attentiveness were amazing. And Nico was always making me laugh, which was a super bonus. Plus the food was SUPERB; they are marvelous cooks.

The breakfast—eggs to order, fresh crepes, juice, bowl of cut fruit, pastries, breads, yogurt, cheeses, cold cuts, coffee, tea, etc.—was the best I had in France. They’re simply fantastic people. Talented, kind, fun. Between them, I think they speak 6 or 7 languages—English, French, Dutch, Spanish, German, and maybe some Flemish and Italian? I can’t remember. But these guys are the best. Their warmth and good humor are extraordinary.

In sum, it was all supremely comfortable and charming. So many little extras to make visitors feel pampered. For a solo traveler like me, a bit exhausted when I arrived, this B&B was heaven.

And if they offer one of their in-house dinners while you’re there, Do Not Miss it. Memorable! I wish I had booked a longer stay. In fact, if I had it to do over, I would NOT stay 3 nights in Sarlat-la-Canéda and 2 nights here. I would spend 1 or 2 nights between Sarlat and Lascaux (for visiting Lascaux, which is 20 minutes north of Sarlat) and then 5 or 6 nights or more at La Tour de Cause, which is near Sarlat but slightly to the south. You can visit Sarlat easily from this B&B, as well as all the wonderful villages, castles, chateaux, gardens, and great restaurants in this incredible locale. [I did not use a booking service but simply sent an email request via the B&B’s website, and it went very smoothly.]

This is the MOST charming and wonderful place we have EVER stayed and if you check my profile you will see we have traveled extensively. The owners are the MOST kind and hospitable people. The breakfasts are wonderful an DON’T miss an opportunity to have dinner - it’s an event! We made friends with other guests from other countries and we look to corresponding with them and seeing them again soon. Igor helped us with sightseeing too! This is an amazing place the grounds are beautiful and the owners are truly passionate. The surrounding area is amazing, why go anywhere else. We’ll be back soon.

It is hard to capture in words how dear La Tour de Cause became to us over our lovely weeklong stay. The other reviews here echo our enthusiasm. La Tour de Cause is hands down the best B&B we’ve ever stayed in. Lovely and warm and welcoming in every respect with a keen eye to beauty and comfort at every turn. Nico and Ygor however are the magic infusion who make everyone feel at home, comfortable and extremely well nourished in body and soul. They succeed in helping you to feel like a guest in their home and you feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of their world for just a bit along with the few other lucky lodgers from around the world (there are only 5 rooms). Besides their knack for hospitality, service, design and decor, and gardens, they are both trained chefs. Breakfast daily is a feast made to order including a daily surprise ‘breakfast dessert’. And, absolutely do not miss their dinners when offered. Truly some of the best meals we have had on our travels. Offered every other night, dinner is a 3 hour dinner party by candlelight in their kitchen with aperitifs on their patio. It was a treasured week in a beautiful place. We certainly hope to return some day. Merci!

We’ll never find another accommodation or hosts like Nico and Igor, and likely never eat as well again. Every breakfast was superb, and our private dining events (with our new friends) were like your fondest Christmas gathering; warm, cozy, romantic, and simply unforgettable. You just don’t find this anywhere.

I can't say enough good things about La Tour de Cause, but I'll try. Mary and I probably have stayed at something like 75 or more B&B's in the U.S., Canada and six European countries. La Tour certainly is in the top 2 or 3. We stayed five nights and would happily have stayed five more. It's hard to tell where to start, but it must be with our hosts. Igor and Nico were just wonderful in every way. No one could work harder to make every aspect of your visit as close to perfect as possible: the food, the grounds, the pool, the room, the housekeeping. Everything about the place shows just incredible dedication to putting their guests first. And they were invariably friendly, patient, informative and just plain charming. They are a fun couple. We were in Room 1, which we highly recommend. It had stone walls, an incredibly soaring, beamed ceiling, three windows, two with lovely flower boxes and the third opening onto a fig tree which was deliciously ripe. The best bed in three weeks on the road, fair-to-good reading lights, a comfortable chair and a first-rate modern bathroom, also with a window. Linens and pillows were excellent. Breakfasts were a highlight. We started with a large, fresh fruit cup for each person, a number of different cheeses, delicious fresh tomato salad, fresh coissants and other breads, a tart or torte most mornings, fresh juice, yogurts, a couple of granolas, eggs perfectly cooked however you wanted and an offering of what Igor called "bacon" (fried pork belly - try it!). And then there was a little sweet treat (crepe, french toast) at the very end. We ate either out on the terrace at separate little tables or at the big communal table in the huge kitchen (which was actually more fun because we all got to commune with each other and Igor and Nico added a lot. The grounds have lots of little nooks and crannies, front and back. There were two big sort of chaise lounges, glass-topped tables with chairs (front and back), a nice little lawn and a really nice pool, out of sight above the upper area, with two hammocks to boot. All the spaces blend together, but there are lots of sort of private spaces. And the flowers (beds and pots) still were lovely in late September. Igor cooks and Nico assists on full-blown, multi-course meals - generally every other night. Don't miss it. In three weeks in Spain and France, including a great meal almost every night, our first meal (we had two) was (we both agreed) the best meal we had on the trip. We had a light, pre-appetizer, excellent scallops, lamb, cheeses and dessert, accompanied by two perfect wine choices. I don't remember exactly the charge for the meal (I want to say 40-45 Euros) but that included the wines and the service was superb. They really know how to do a meal. Our second meal (featuring perfectly cooked cod) also was first rate. Finally, the location was as great as everything else. The gardens at Marquessac, La Roque-Gageac, the castle at Castelnaud, the castle at Beynac, Domme, Milandes - all were no more than ten minutes. Sarlat (a bit of a disappointment compared to the others) was a further ten. Then you come home to a very tranquil setting, I have only one strong suggestion. Nico and Igor accept only cash payment. That was very clear from the start. Five nights, two meals, a bottle of wine (honor bar) ran over 800 Euros which was a BARGAIN, make no mistake. It was the most reasonably priced of any place in which we stayed. However, coming up with, and walking around with, over 800 Euros is not something I was comfortable with and actually was a bit tough given the limits on ATM's. We had to visit two or three to come up with it. I understand why they want cash, for a variety of reasons, but I think it's time to bite the credit card bullet, gentlemen. I know this is a very long review. I can't help it. This place was just outstanding in every way, beginning and ending with Igor and Nico!
