#1 of 2 hotels in Bala
Certificate of Excellence
Plas Yn Dre is located in a convenient position on Bala High Street. Bala lies on the banks of LLyn Tegid, a busy rural town rich in history, from Socks to the Royalty to local legends like Mary Jones and Betsi Cadwallader. Plas Yn Dre has been a family run restaurant since 1990 but has gone through quite a transformation in 2017 with a complete re-vamp and the addition of 9 Guest Bedrooms. The building has been sympathetically built retaining as many of the original features of the historic building as possible and furnished and styled in a luxurious relaxed theme. The end result is stunning to say the least and we invite to to come and sample our wares for a drink in our snug or lounge bar, a meal in our relaxed dining room or a nights stay (or 3) in our luxurious rooms. Well behaved dogs are welcome in a few of our rooms. Our aim from the start was to provide stylish rooms, serve good fresh local food and provide an excellent experience for our guests.

Fantastically well extended and converted old hotel, with gorgeous bedrooms and vey handsome public rooms - allied with the most friendly, courteous, and welcoming of staff, I doubt that this hotel could be bettered anywhere in north Wales. Quite enhancing and enchanting, and a

Went to the restaurant for a meal on the Sunday night and it was amazing. Starter, main and desert were all equally great. So decided to return on the Monday. What a let down. Steak was chewy and over seasoned, the super food salad was missing ingredients and was basically a

We received a great welcome on arrival. Our room was at the front of the hotel and was lovely, lots of space, big bed, very good shower, big towels, so no complaints at all. Food in the restaurant was very good, again excellent service, friendly staff. I really liked the potted

We were expecting a lovely meal after reading all the great reviews, but, the rustic bread starter was dry and inedible, the lamb burger was nice only let down by the dry brioche bun..... chose the basics from the menu, clearly this was asking too much. Very disappointing meal.

Great Sunday roast with large rooms right on the high street, private parking at rear and local shops nearby. Friendly staff and a nice pint of guinness. Perfect for a stopover or weekend break. Top marks for the Welsh cooked breakfast which was free with our room :)
