Even at £35 a night the Porthcawl Hotel is barely worth the money. The room was clean if a little short on character but there two real problems that mean I will not be going back there. First, if you enjoy watching just BBC1 on the TV then you're OK. Try as I might I couldn't get any other channel... More

Positives - Central location in Porthcawl, shopping area just outside, easy walking distance of seafront promenade and Grand Pavilion Theatre. Breakfast was included. Some quieter rooms on the top floor (but plenty of stairs/corridors) available away from the bar/nightclub if required. Friendly staff. Negatives - room a bit dated with a tv that operated on only one channel! (no remote... More

Tv was small but worked ok now the bed was not comfortable at all rather lumpy and hard. We ate in the restaurant and i must say the food... More

Basic accommodation with various bits and bobs that don't work - showers, tv's, lights etc. Watch out for the gym on the first floor - it's as noisy as it could be. Why have LOUD music and a bloke who has to SHOUT over the noise. Can be heard everywhere. Having said that all is peace at night and the... More

Myself and my boyfriend booked the night in this hotel thinking it was good value for money! We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by a young man who told us that breakfast was served between 7-10 and check out was at 11. The next morning we discvered that breakfast actually stopped at 9:30. After arriving to breakfast at... More

My Wife and I were in rainy Porthcawl on Sunday 19 June 2016 as I had to meet a Client. It was 1 p.m. so as were outside the Porthcawl Hotel we noticed a table by the window so in we went and ordered two beef dinners. They were superb, loads of beef and veg, and the quality was first... More

Lovely place to pop into for lunch. Lovely and clean, cheerful staff and lovely food. Eat here with confidence. We both Hunters chicken and chips which was absolutely gorgeous ... pity the chips weren't home made, but they were nice chunky Chips, so not too disappointed.

Like I said, the staff were amazing and so friendly. From the cleaners to the manager. Could not fault them at all. My only gripe is with my room. I had a single room top floor. The first thing you notice is the awful grinding noise that goes on all night . Think it was a generator or the buildings... More
