3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

I'd like to give it better than 3 stars, but not as much as 4 (I wish TripAdvisor would allow me to do 3-1/2!). We stayed for 2 nights at the Pierhouse recently. Its remote setting right on the water is beautiful and peaceful. And its proximity both to the hiking around Fort William about 40 minutes to the north... More

Thank you for your review and I am extremely pleased that you enjoyed our food and that you would recommend The Pierhouse. We are always delighted when guests say that they will recommend us to other people so thank you very much for that. I do have some issue over the caveat you mention regarding your bedroom and am disappointed... More

We stayed for 3 nights at the Pierhouse hotel with our 2 years old. We had a room at the back which was spacious and comfortable. We ate twice at the bar, which offers nice well-prepared simple dishes. I would also strongly recommend the desserts! There is also a lovely guest lounge in one of the old part of the... More

What a brilliant location this is - reached at the end of what seems like a long narrow road on the way. As usual not as long as you think when you go back to the main road. Great hospitality and a lovely comfortable bedroom. Very quiet, even though our room we found out was next to the sauna. We... More

I stayed here one night with my mum and my sister (all of us adults) on a whistle-stop tour of Scotland. It was a shame that we only had the one evening as I would have loved to have stayed here longer. The Pierhouse is a serene, comfortable hotel in a picturesque waterside setting. It's an excellent retreat where you... More

We booked a 3 for 2 deal direct withe the hotel after being recommended by another nice couple on our travels. After driving through Rannochmoor n Glencoe during a snow storm, we arrived in Port Appin to settle into our Superior Seaview Room looking out to the Pier. 1st impressions are important n the location is 5star. Truly delicious, decadent lunch, with great service and a super table overlooking the pier and across the loch to Lismore - a great people-watching spot, including the local passenger ferry and mobile bank popping past. Not cheap, but entirely worth it - luxurious local produce (with the local lobsters being kept in creels at the end of the pier a... More

Had a lovely couple of nights here with our friends and their 10 year old daughter. They couldn't do enough for us and the food was amazing. They were so child friendly and hot chocolate was to die for. Our weather was pretty dismal but this didn't stop us from hiring bikes and taking the ferry over to Lismore. Great... More

Many thanks for your lovely review which means a great deal to us. We do our best to look after our guests, whatever their age. Friends from England, staying at Fort Augustus, met with us at the Pierhouse Hotel. Lovely warm bar on a cold February day. Greeting - none! Sat down with a couple of drinks before asking for the bar meal menu. Basically, we had a choice of ham or cheese sandwiches. Two slices of 'dry' bread with the individual's choice of filling.... This review is completely at odds with reality and gives a biased and unfair picture of what actually happened. Firstly, nobody but nobody has ever suggested that our lady on the bar during the day does not welcome people. She is renowned as one of the loveliest and friendliest people in Port Appin so I completely refute the statement that... More

Lovely place and well worth a visit. Great food, amazing views, grumpy as hell barman. A hello or even a smile every now and again would be nice. Apart from that, its a great place and a 'must visit' - would have got 5 out of 5 if the welcome was a bit warmer

Thank you for your review which would have been very nice but was let down by our barman having what I can only imagine was a bad day. I hold my hands up and apologise profusely for what obviously 'appeared' to be a grumpy attitude on the evening you visited which is unacceptable and should not have happened. Suffice to... More
