I have booked this hotel however upon arrival I was informed my reservation was upgraded to another sister hotel very close to this one just 200 metres away, That was a good choice the place was very nice and clean, looks like new, rooms are very nice, I had also breakfast in there, service was excellent, just one thing the hotel has not lift so if you are travelling with luggage please ensure you are allocated on the lower floors.
We didn’t stay over here (please you to Casa Particulars) but it’s nice to have a panoramic overview on the rooftop. Not for free actually & you have to bring you passport. Entrance is 3 CUC which includes 1 drink on the roof 🥤
In the future we will book a casa particular. We had stayed in this hotel a few years ago and were very disappointed in this stay. We had only booked for one night before heading to a resort. The location is excellent however for $70 CUC our toilet did not work, there was no water for most of our stay and the sheets did not cover the bed so ended up sleeping on a plastic covered mattress.
This hotel has seen better days. The room was basic, looked onto another room, the bathroom was shabby and the restaurant very average. Some staff helpful, some not. Location is good though and opens up onto the beautiful square. That’s all I can say!
I had been a former resident of this town. This used to be place of prestige. FAR really FAR from it now. We got sick. The place is dirty. Leaky air conditioning. Very poorly maintained. The service was one of the worse I have ever been exposed to and we had to even get hot water to drink because someone left the cold bottles locked. This is NOT where you want to stay when in st Clara. Do yourself a favor stay AWAY from that hell hole!!!
I simple love the fact that we were sleeping in one of the most iconic hotels in Cuba. Regarding conditions there were some but you have to know that you are entering in a living piece monument of Cuba. So very old, not many conditions and it is just for the experience. You even can still check bullets holes in the entrance of the hotel.
We stayed one night on a tour. The room was tiny with 2 single beds. We had a large shower room- the water was hot and powerful and we had a toilet seat so the basics were covered. We ate out in the evening but breakfast was acceptable including hot dishes. There is a bar on top floor - had an evening drink. The hotel is on the main square so well placed for walking around the locality- a very pretty town.
I have stayed here twice, out of necessity - nowhere else to go. I think the rooms were last refurbished before the revolution! There appears to be an intermittent water supply, but it had come on and the water was hot in the morning. I haven't spent the night in a prison cell but such a location might be considered more luxurious compared with this. Spent 16 nights in Cuba and had the worst room of the tour here. Compared with the past the food HAS improved. Attractive bullet holes on the outside. If you have NOWHERE ELSE TO GO this is the place to stay. The one good point is that the Central square where this is located is an excellent location for street action and there was a free violin cultural music concert on next door.
I went there for just one night back in 2013... the waters in the shower was extremely cold so it was impossible to shower even tho it was summer time. The room was tiny and so was the bathroom but al least it had good tv. If you're looking for somewhere to just sleep, this will do just fine but there is no luxury here at all. So don't come expecting it and you won't be disappointed. You do have to pay to get into the rooftop "club" which is very boring. There are better clubs to go to in the city.
You have to spend CUC 3 to go up to the roof top bar; with the right to consume for two of them. Make sure you have your passport with you though since only tourists are allowed to go up there... Drinks are watered down, and chairs and tables are worn plastic ones. And the view isn't much to write home about neither.
