Just returned from an amazing stay at the Malliouhana Resort. We were there with our entire family, including 4 very young children. The staff was exceptional, the rooms were spacious and lovely, the views were spectacular and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. It was truly the perfect vacation and we look forward to returning.
My wife and I spent a week at Malliouhana for our Babymoon and had a fantastic time overall (with some caveats). This hotel is home to one of the most spectacular and photogenic places in Anguilla. The sunsets are magical and the elevated location of the hotel creates an immersive view of the blues in the ocean. Meads bay is the perfect location to explore Anguilla! The hotel is designed perfectly for its setting, the pool area is beautiful and lined with palm trees creating a visual oasis. The rooms are generously sized and well appointed with excellent washrooms (toto toilets, double sinks, etc). The breakfast is out of this world, make sure you swap out the breakfast potatoes for the homemade hash brown! The food in general is very good, slightly higher priced than some of the other spots in Anguilla but on par with higher end locations. The Malliouhana provided a delicious cake on check in to celebrate our baby moon and upgraded our arrival transportation from the airport to the hotel, which was truly appreciated! This hotel is close to a 5 star in my opinion, but does lack in the service vs what I believe is their competition on the island: the Four Seasons and Belmond properties. We visited both of these properties for breakfast/lunch during our time in Anguilla and there is a noticeable difference in service from arrival to departure. At the Malliouhana, outside of the pool staff, most of the other staff seemed uninterested and disengaged which left my wife and I with a bit of an unusual feeling at times. Compared to hotels we’ve visited in a similar price range, it was surprising to not have consistent and positive engagement with the staff, it felt at times we were bothering them. Outside of the pool staff, we were repeatedly asked for our names and room number over the course of our 7 day stay, which was surprising for a smaller boutique hotel. We found out one evening through chatting with staff that we weren’t extended the invite to the managers cocktail reception and rum/chocolate tasting in the lobby. Coupled with the service, it felt like we weren’t being acknowledged. At departure we had a couple of small corrections needed to our bill, which were swiftly taken care of. However, when I provided feedback about the staff and some specific negative experiences mentioned above, it seemed like we rushed out of the hotel without a care in the world. While there were some clear areas this hotel is in the ultra lux category: primarily the design, location and food what this hotel lacks is service and personalization which IMO is the difference in true 5 star experiences. We ended up booking Malliouhana over the Four Season in this case due to a slight savings and resort credit offer from Auberge’s Cyber Sale. Given my experience, unless there is a material culture change I would opt for the Four Seasons (or Belmond), the difference in price seems justifiable.…
The Malliouhana is a beautiful property and I love the location. It provides walkability to other restaurants and bars which is nice. Leon’s is a standout when comparing to other properties on this stretch of beach. Good food and drink with water sports available. Malliouhana is more authentic and unique when comparing to the 4 season.
Highly recommend Malliouhana in Anguilla for a relaxing stay. The views, room and amenities were amazing. The service was unparalleled and the food was delicious. The hotel is small enough that the staff can greet you by name.
Beautiful property. Excellent location. Amazing island. Slow service, slower than other resorts on the island, most of the time you couldn’t even find help. Plan your days before arrival on your own. The concierge was unfriendly and disinterested and rude. Always seemed bothered when we had questions. I had to pull information out of her rather than her volunteering ideas. The spa couples massage we had was poor. One of the masseuses was very inexperienced and knew not what she was doing. It took nearly 48 hours for them to get back us on whether it was scheduled or not and in that process said they were looking for an outside consultant to do the massage. I assume that’s who did the a poor job. Very disappointed especially with the cost of it being so high. Attentiveness at Leon’s, at the pool, at the bar, and at the restaurant we’re generally slacking. It wasn’t terrible at most of them but be patient, with the exception of Leon’s which was horrible. The setting is wonderful but the service was extremely lacking. It took nearly 2 hours on multiple occasions to get my order brought out. The servers never came to anyone they just talked to each other. The place seemed to lack management. We went Tues - Friday and there was no music being played not live or on speakers. The average wait time for a drink was 45 min. There was never more than 15 couples there, I can’t imagine how they function when it’s busy. Many hotel guests shared the same experiences. Some rode bikes to Best Buy grocery store to buy their own beer because of the difficulty in ordering. End of the day this was not a five star experience that we had hoped for, or paid for. It’s fair to assume these things wouldn’t have happened at the Four Seasons. …
This resort is absolutely beautiful. The views are stunning. The property is beautifully decorated and Instagram photo-ready. The rooms are lovely and we especially enjoyed the ocean view and outdoor space. The room was large but furniture oddly placed- large dining table in front of the full length mirror so you couldn’t actually use the mirror to see your outfit. The service on the other hand was mediocre. Not what you’d find at other Auberge properties. The on-site restaurants are good- not great, not bad- pricey but consistent with other tourist locations on the island. One evening at dinner the Bar Soleil was completely out of both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which was both odd and disappointing. If I went back to Anguilla I’d probably stay somewhere else. We had dinner at Cap Juluca one night and that resort looked very nice.…
This was our second time staying at Malliouhana and we plan to come back again and again. the resort is set up so nicely. 2 different beach areas depending on your mood; one very secluded and the other near facilities and water sports. the pools I think are one of the big draws, just beautiful, the upper pool flows into the lower pool with an infinity edge creating a waterfall like feature below. the upper pool Is adults only which is nice. the views are spectacular as well. there is very much a communal feeling! We met and talked with people just in our daily activities, made the place feel warm and homey. The staff is the best, the most lovely, warm, welcoming people. just love the Anguillan people!
We felt welcome and at home upon our arrival. Raquel, the front of house manager, went out of her way to make sure that every detail of our stay was perfect. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating and Keneisha even prepared us an itinerary of all our restaurant reservations and activities. Our room was lovely with a spectacular view of the sea. Breakfast at Celeste each morning was excellent and there is not a better way to start each day of your vacation than with a latte overlooking the gorgeous Meads Bay! We looked forward to seeing Olivia each morning who remembered all of our coffee preferences, was charming, kind and took amazing care of us. Sierra and the team helped with our in-room needs and delivered everything from daily treats and snacks to our room and even a hot water kettle! Remieko from the concierge desk made all kinds of reservations and reached out to us before, during and after our stay to ensure we squeezed in as much fun, relaxation and great meals that Anguilla has to offer. We loved the resort’s calming and upscale Caribbean decor that blends so well with the beautiful scenery of the island. We enjoyed every minute of our stay!…
The resort was absolutely breathtaking. If you want rich history, a taste of the Caribbean, colourful, surroundings, and amazing service - stay here. We checked out the other 5 star resorts but this was far and away the most unique and beautiful. We actually left the resort we were supposed to stay at to come back and stay the rest of our nights here. The staff we're incredibly helpful and kind. I couldn't have been more pleased with this Auberge resort. What a gem! We will definitely be back.
This is a beautiful and well maintained property. When we travel we like to feel the hotel matches the location and this hotel knocks it out of the park. The decor is turquoise, white and yellow and with the turquoise Caribbean Sea and the green plants and flowers it is just delightful. Service is very friendly and accommodating. The staff knows who you are and learns what you like very quickly. We had a Beachfront King, big room with a great veranda. It was easy access to the beach and Leon’s. Leon’s was a lot of fun and had great live local band on Sunday. Food was good and offered the only draft beer we found on the island. All the restaurant food choices were well prepared and tasty. Great gym for a hotel.
