Carimar is a lovely boutique resort located on one of the best Anguilla beaches-Meads Bay. This was our 3rd year in a row (our home away from home). We enjoyed 12 wonderful nights in June/July of 2023. Although we stayed longer this time, we simply didn’t want our vacation to end!

The resort grounds are pretty, our Beachfront One-Bedroom and balcony was perfect, the front desk ladies/staff were helpful, and the gorgeous beach/water is amazing. The front desk ladies at Carimar arranged our Anguilla airport taxi transportation (Leslie and Jerry) on arrival/departure, set-up a rental car for us for 9 out of the 13 days of our stay, and they stocked our room with everything we asked for prior to our arrival. I’d like to give thanks to as many people as I can remember, but forgive me if I forgot or misspelled your name: Rolf, LaVerne, Cindy, Hermia, and Solange for how well you treated us during our vacation. We thank you for your hospitality!

Although we didn’t get the same Oceanfront One-Bedroom we’ve had for two years in a row, we absolutely loved this year’s room (604- on the second floor) a lot!!! We loved the views from up there so much, and it was an easy walk down the steps each day, into the clear blue water. :-)

Carimar is an absolute gem in the Caribbean and we are so glad we found it!❤️

If you are looking for the most perfect tropical beach vacation- your search is over! Carimar is absolutely stunning at the most beautiful beach I’ve seen in my life. The resort is the best of both worlds with an eat in kitchen for easy breakfasts/lunches and a few dinners in, but your bed is made a room is cleaned every day like a full service hotel. The bathrooms are updated and gorgeous, and the unit has everything you need (safe, iron, shampoo&conditioner) The staff are so friendly and helpful- they made dinner reservations for us, gave us beach chairs and an umbrella to take to explore the island, and had fresh pastries in the morning!! You can walk right to sunset drinks at the 5 star hotels in the area, and Blanchards beach shack next door has awesome casual food at great prices. Again- best of both worlds!! We have been on a few different trips to the Caribbean, now this will be our one and only tropical vacation destination.

We just recently returned from an almost six weeks stay in Anguilla most of which was spent at Carimar Beach Club. Anguilla has a strict 14-day quarantine and finding the ideal spot to navigate that was crucial. I had one place in mind but that would have been too isolating and I was led to Carimar by a good friend who was familiar with all of my potential choices. My stay was absolutely magnificent. Our one bedroom unit was perfectly appointed with a fully equipped kitchen, living and dining room, extremely comfortable king size bed and spa like bathroom. Our unit had a patio which we loved because of the ease of going back and forth to the beach. YES, you can go to the beach. There is a sectioned off area just for guests in quarantine with a designated umbrella and chair for each person. You have permission, once you check in with the beach attendant, to walk a good distance down the beach as far as The Frangipani. The restaurant at The Frangipani is one of the restaurants guests in quarantine could dine at and several times we walked down for lunch. In fact, many of the “bubble” restaurants are on Meads Bay which made it extremely convenient to eat out when we wanted. I came down with a cooler and many staples from home, each person allowed to bring $150 worth of groceries in, and we cooked many meals in our unit. The cookware, the knives and most any accessory you could need were all provided and top notch. Our friend did most of our shopping so we didn’t need The Carimar to do any for us, but that is part of what they offer guests. The giant grocery store nearby was more than well stocked with almost anything you could need including liquor, beer and wine. I also believe the nice French wine shop delivers. While in quarantine you can request to have your laundry done, just call the front desk and say it’s outside your door and it was back before we knew it.

My stay at Carimar was by far the most relaxing vacation my husband and I have ever taken. We approached quarantine not as lock down but as mandatory down time. We spent our days swimming, walking the beach, reading, playing scrabble and happy hour started early most days. We made some incredible meals, which we ate mostly on the patio. We were able to have dinner out at some of my favorite spots including Blanchards and Sharkys, on specific “bubble guest nights, and even had Garvey’s famous ribs delivered from The Sunshine Shack.

Even if you can’t stay longer than 14 days to get out of quarantine this is THE place to stay in Anguilla to have as much of a full experience as possible at this time. Everyone on property that we dealt with alleviated all the anxiety and made the stay effortless. I will definitely stay at Carimar again in the future.

We travel to Anguilla just before the holidays in December and have done so for two years. We like to explore different islands in the Caribbean and rarely go back to the same place, but we recently returned from our second stay at Carimar. We’ve found our happy place - nothing can beat the times we have there. The laid-back vibe of Carimar is just right for us. The location on the most beautiful beach with the most incredible water is the best of the best and Carimar’s location provides instant access to it. We spend hours taking beach walks and floating in that gorgeous ocean and it revitalizes is after a year of hard work. Carimar may not be for everyone- there’s no pool or restaurant and you are left to do your thing, however anything you could want is provided for the asking. Cindy and LaVerne in the front office are delightful and helpful and knowledgeable about everything you might want to know. The rooms are huge and comfortable and provide you with a full kitchen and living space as well as a large bedroom and lovely modern bathroom. We met people two years ago who have become friends, so spending time together is also something forward to look forward to. Nothing is “showy” here —. It’s just perfect for us. Cheers to Catimar and we can’t wait to see you in December for another two weeks!

Hi there, thank you very much for your lovely review which really captures the spirit of Carimar. It is always wonderful to read about our amazing staff. Having no restaurant does not seem to be an issue for our guests, especially because there are quite a few restaurants in walking distance. We are so glad you found your happy place here with us at Carimar on gorgeous Meads Bay. We are looking forward to welcoming you back with us. Sunny regards Your Carimar Family

We enjoyed our stay at Carimar very much. The room was airy, spacious, clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our stay. We do not cook on vacation but it was useful to have a refrigerator that is actually cold, kettle, coffee maker etc. The welcome rum & coke and bottle of water was a lovely touch. The local supermarkets really have nothing much in them that we'd want to buy, except drinks. Snacks etc we brought with us. We bought breakfast pastries etc at the Village Bakery and ate out every evening & some lunches.

The bedroom and living area had air conditioning but as we don't particularly like aircon unless unbearable hot, we opened the windows and had the fans running. The breeze was wonderful and certainly enough to keep the rooms cool. The windows and patio door have insect screens so we did not notice any mosquitos in the room but there were plenty outside so bring good repellent. Bathroom was modern and clean.

We did not have much interaction with staff at all, only when checking in and out but they seemed friendly enough. We liked the reserved beach chairs & parasols, this is a great idea.

The location is great, have been to the island a couple of times before and still favour this area. Being next to Leons & the Malliouhana on one side and Blanchards Beach Shack/Restaurant and various other restaurants all along Meads Bay makes it a perfect location. The beach is fantastic, paradise. It was easy to access the water and have a great swim or float around

Carimar is an unusual "resort". It is high quality without being pretentious. The accommodations are perfect for a beach vacation. The pristine ocean is literally steps away, the beach as lovely as you will find anywhere, and restaurants are either a short beach walk away, or short drive. The beach (Meads Bay) itself is considered the best Anguilla has to offer, which is saying a lot given that there are several island beaches to explore.

What is unique about Carimar begins with the staff: friendly, helpful, and patient. They will oversee your reservation needs, car rental, ferry and boat rentals, etc. All you need to do is relax. The property itself is carefully maintained. There is a real gym, and good tennis courts. Housekeeping is consistently attentive and thorough. Everything works without stress. Simply splendid.

Anguilla itself is slightly off the major tourist route. Yes, there are several luxurious resorts, but the island itself is not overrun by overwrought vacationers or the celebrity set, thank goodness. There are numerous restaurants that will delight: the Carimar will assist with reservations. This is our second consecutive year at Carimar. After numerous winter trips in search of a welcoming location, we feel we have discovered a special winter getaway, far from the maddening crowd.

After three years and three canceled trips, we returned to Carimar this May for a two week stay. It was stay number ten for us. For those not familiar with Carimar, it consists of six buildings with four units in each building. You have the option to rent a one or two bedroom unit. While we did not cook dinner, we used the kitchen to make breakfast, lunch and happy hour snacks. All the units are steps away from a beautiful section of Meads Bay. Bathrooms are beautifully updated, and the units are fully air conditioned. We used the air conditioning in the bedroom but did not need to use it in the main living area. Windows and blinds had been replaced and the entire complex recently repainted. Landscaping is lush and provided us with a number of photo opportunities.

I especially loved the reserved beach set up. So nice to know where you are sitting and that your chairs and umbrellas are waiting for you whenever you get to the beach. Please make this a permanent feature! On previous trips we noticed a number of people claiming chairs early in the morning.

The office staff is the best. I had a lot of questions regarding protocols and testing and they answered all my questions. The GM, Rolf, reviewed our pre-arrival Covid tests to make sure they were acceptable. The ladies in the office will make dinner reservations for you, schedule your departing Covid test, and provide concierge services. Carimar will also stock your unit with groceries prior to your arrival with advance notice. Can't forget to mention that you can place an order with the front office the night before for goodies from Village Bakehouse.

Carimar always exceeds my expectations and I can't wait to return!

My wife and I stayed at Carimar Beach Club in Meads Bay the last week of June, it was the dream of our lives to go to Anguilla and stay on that white beach and finally this year we succeeded! Great location on the beach of Meads Bay, better this final part than towards the beginning where there are other hotels but there is more windy and the sea rougher, here instead is beautiful and the sea calm and beautiful. The apartment we were assigned was on the ground floor, three steps and we were on the beach ten meters from the sea, umbrella next to the veranda with two deck chairs, in the second row unfortunately but the first was not right in front of us to obstruct everything. Maybe those who take a beach front room and pay more should be entitled to an umbrella in the front row but it seems that the logic is not this.... the apartment consisted of a sea side room (you could hear the waves at night, beautiful), a bathroom and a long lounge. At the beginning of the corridor there was another double room and bathroom, locked as we had booked for a couple and then the rest was unusable (rightly). Reception not exactly very nice, (perhaps because we were not American but European?) cleaning not perfect but still acceptable, kitchen stocked with everything and the ability to have supplies brought upon arrival (for a fee of course). Some local bar restaurant nearby, to eat especially in the evening, but if you have a car you will be more independent. But going to Anguilla is mostly done for the beautiful beach and the incredible sea, we had a breed right in front of the house that we saw practically every day, transparent and calm sea, a spectacular view. If the trip from Italy was not so long and the cost so high would be to go there every year!! Thank you Carimar for the beautiful holiday made.

We have been coming to Carimar for 25 years. In addition to excellent accommodations we have come to appreciate the caring and consistent service. Many of the staff have been serving guests at Carimar for longer than our tenure. Over the years we have observed the owners and management to make consistent improvements, keeping the property tip-top while maintaining reasonable, competitive rates. You will enjoy your stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Carimar. The beachfront unit we stayed in was clean, the beds super comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We especially liked sitting out on the balcony looking at the fantastic view. The water was turquoise, clear as glass, and the snorkeling was the best right out front, just steps from the beach. We used the gym every day. It would be great if it had a DVD player so workout DVDs could be used. The staff was great! We had a minor issue with the air conditioning and they were right on it. Housekeeping came every day and they did a terrific job. Being August, many restaurants were closed, however, we enjoyed walking next door to Leons or just cooking ourselves. We found what we needed at the Best Buy, which was close by. The setting at Carimar was beautiful and the water was one of the best we have seen in our travels. We definitely recommend Carimar for those looking for a laid back vacation .... it is not a place for a party crowd.

If flying from Miami to St Martin and back again - where do you go through customs?
Answer from Rolf Masshardt

Good morning. You have to go through immigration and customs in St.Maarten and Anguilla. However St. Maarten is duty free so hardly any customs check. In Anguilla they may check your luggage. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Marina, we usually take reservations about 11 months in advance. The reason is that we want to give our many repeat guests first choice, they usually leave us the dates for the following year when they leave. However, you can send us an email and we can put your request down, and we would be able to confirm sometimes in June. Thank you for your understanding. regards Rolf

Answer from Kathy T

Depending on where you are flying from, you will likely fly into St. Martin and then take the ferry across to the island. When we travelled to Anguilla, we flew into St. Martin, took the ferry across to the island and a taxi to Carimar. You also have to go through immigration when you arrive in Anguilla. This journey is not a "hop, skip and a jump". You need to be prepared for a few hours. At least that was our experience.

Answer from Ted R
Wilton, Connecticut108 contributions31 helpful votes
There are NO all-inclusive hotels or resorts on Anguilla. Some hotels are full-service and some are self-catering like Carimar Beach Club. The fully-equipped granite kitchen, dining room, living room and more make it easier for families to enjoy their vacations. Carimar WILL help you make your flight reservations IF you are staying with them. They have an in-house travel agent who will assist you. Just email the reservations desk and let them know you will need that help.
