By far one of "The Best" resorts we 've visited in 30 years of travel thru the Caribbean. Great people who make you stay feel effortless. Great food that tantalizes the taste buds. All rooms are on the beach. I could open my sliding glass door and walk 20 feet to the beach. Did I mention they have great people. We will definitely return to Cap Juluca.

This was my first visit to Cap Juluca. Leading up to the trip, I had high expectations; as Cap has numerous positive reviews and historical reputation as a top tier destination. Unlike many destinations; Cap elegantly met every expectation and surpassed most. Cap Juluca is a world class destination; don’t hesitate for a moment in planning a trip to this special resort on Anguilla. Here are some, objective, observations about our experience: Travel/Transit: I’ve found in my travels that, usually, the more challenging the travel, the better the destination. Cap Juluca falls in to this category. Our travel took us with a direct flight to St. Maarten (SXM) and boat service to Anguilla. There are many choices in how you transit from SXM to Anguilla (ferry, semi-private charter, private charter & air service). We choose to book a private boat charter. The hotel took care of all of our transit plans. They booked us with Funtime Charters private charter each way ($550 each way). We also requested, and the hotel accommodated, in arranging “Fast Track” airport/customs clearance. The process the hotel accommodated ran like a Swiss clock. There wasn’t one hick-up either arriving or departing. The “fast-track” is worth the price ($150 per couple per way). There was a greeter as we exited our arriving airplane and they walked us through the airport and cut us to the front of every line and took us directly to our awaiting private shuttle for the 2 minute ride to the ferry dock. We were immediately met by the most gracious of hosts from Fun Time who then whisked us through departing customs and on to our private boat charter. The crew were professional for the roughly 30 minute crossing to Anguilla. The crossing really sets the tone of adventure and island vacation. Arriving in Anguilla we were again escorted through arriving customs and into an awaiting suv to take us to Cap Juluca. We didn’t touch our luggage from the time we deposited them at the airport in the US until unpacking in our room! Let the resort arrange your transit! They have it down to a science. (You may also now fly directly to Anguilla and avoid the SXM transit) Arrival/Room: Upon arrival, you are escorted to the open air lobby/sitting area of the resort. Your check-in is done with a tablet and is a quick and low-key. We were offered a cold drink while we completed the process. At this time, we were introduced to our “villa host” who then escorted us to our room. The villa host as we’d come to find, is assigned to be your personal point of contact throughout your stay. They also check in with you daily and are available to help with just about anything. You may also utilize the host desk/front desk. As an example, our host helped arrange dinner reservations, found us dominos to play, checked on a day trip to St. Barth’s, inquired about jeep rental, etc. He would appear on the beach most afternoons to say hello and see what he could do for us. The service makes you feel you have a friend on the island and is very genuine and not forced. You may use it as much or as little as you want. Cap Juluca is situated on the crescent shaped Maundays Bay. The resort is composed of around 25 stand-alone buildings. Each building houses anywhere from 3 to 8 rooms/units/villas. It appeared there were a few buildings that were just one villa/room. It appeared all were only 2 floors. Our building, #18, had a total of 4 rooms (3 on the top floor and 1 on the bottom). We were given a complimentary upgrade to a premium junior suite. The room was absolutely perfect. Comfortable, quiet, private. Most of the premium rooms have either a room top terrace or solarium. Ours had a solarium. The construction of the rooms/villas is solid. I am very sensitive to noise and can honestly say, I didn’t hear any disturbing noise transfer from the other rooms in our building (other than a few times you could here of a door slamming shut because the doors to the rooms don’t have a non-slamming device and if you forget to pull door closed, it will slam….seems like a simple fix). You can’t here any talking, tv, footsteps, music, etc. from your neighbors. Our room did not have an adjoining/connecting door. I was very pleased with the peace and quiet in the room. The room also had an outdoor terrace overlooking the beach. The terrace was very comfortable with high end chez loungers, a solid circular table and a cushioned sofa. The terrace is private and comfortable. My wife and I enjoyed sitting on the terrace after breakfast and playing dominos, reading the paper and doing games in the complimentary paper delivered to the room each morning. The highlights of the room consisted of a comfortable king bed, extremely efficient air conditioner and ceiling fan, bar/coffee credenza, large writing desk, side table in the entry, sofa (also a sleeper), more than enough closet space and lavish bathroom and solarium. Again, the theme of expectations exceeded, was met with our assigned room. Beach: Cap Juluca sits on Maundays Bay, a crescent shaped bay on the south/west side of Anguilla. The beach is beautiful beyond compare. The waters on the eastern half of the beach are calmer than the western, as they are more protected from the wind by the pointe that juts in to the sea on the eastern side of the bay. The view is across the channel to St. Maarten and, on a clear day, we could also see Saba. On the western end of the beach, sits the Cap Shack, an informal beach bar/restaurant. On the far eastern end of the beach os the main house and restaurants of the resort (Cips, Pimms and Uchu). There is a water toys/recreation station about the midpoint of the beach that provides various water activities (snorkels, paddle board, hobi-cats, etc) Each room is assigned it’s own beach chair/umbrella set up. (No having to navigate waking up early to save chairs/claim your spot. No being nickeled and dimed and charged for beach chairs, etc…like some resorts). A seashell with your room number is placed on the table of the beach set up. You are given a cooler with as many waters as you want that are iced each day. Your set up comes with an umbrella, towels, cooler and comfortable chairs. There are also beach attendants stationed on the beach that check on you and are there for anything you need (drinks, food, sunscreen). They even cut a fresh coconut for my wife off a tree! Again, the service is what you want and make of it. They are not “pushy” like some resorts constantly trying to sell you drinks. You know each day when it is 3pm, as the beach attendant brings fresh sorbet. Before we arrived, I was concerned about the ongoing problem of explosive sargassum/ seaweed in the Caribbean and Gulf. As we descended in to SXM you could see tons of brown strands in the ocean. To my thankful finding, during the majority of our stay, Maundays Bay did not experience any seaweed. The bay seems to be situated where the current, usually, does not allow most seaweed to enter the bay. There was a scattering a few days not the hotel had a beach clean up device that would sweep the beach each morning. For our stay, the sargassum was a non-event. Though, the morning we left, there was quite a bit that had washed ashore on the western half of the beach. The beach sweeper attempted for a few hours to clean up but for some inexplicable reason, quit after a few hours with there still being quite a bit of the sargassum/seaweed on the beach. If we had just arrived that day to been during our trip when we wanted to enjoy the beach, I would have been alarmed and dismayed. The beach clean up effort is something the hotel should suggestively seek to improve. There is another beach, Cove Bay, that is on the eastern side of the resort (not connected to the main beach on Maundays Bay). The Cove Bay beach is essentially unusable because of the large amounts of seaweed. Dining: The resort has 4 eateries. Cap Shack, Cip’s, Pimms and Uchu. We dined at each. Breakfast is served in Pimms each morning. They put on quite a spread. All the normal breakfast items and then some. We were very pleased with the the complimentary breakfast buffet. We had lunch at Cap Shack several times and enjoyed the food and dim atmosphere directly on the beach. Pimms is advertised as fine dining and romantic. We enjoyed Pimms but it was not our favorite meal of the trip. I’d recommend trying for the setting alone. The tables are as close to being in the water as possible. It’s really beautiful. The hostess was somewhat rude when we arrived but the manager quickly addressed the issue. (Though staying at the resort, I made the dinner reservation through OpenTable. Well…. The resort says they don’t use OpenTable and didn’t have our reservation. The hostess wanted to argue with me and acted as if I were lying about having a reservation confirmed. There was no ownership of the problem that the resort still allows it’s restaurants to be booked on OpenTable) We dined at Cip’s for dinner. They have an Italian inspired menu. Again, fabulous setting. The food is good but not great. We enjoyed are dinners at Cip’s but it wasn’t our favorite meal either. Cip’s and Pimms actually are in the same building so they both share fantastic setting and view. Uchu is a good restaurant. Probably our favorite of the dinner choices. The service was slow but the food good. I wouldn’t hesitate to eat at any of the restaurants at Cap Juluca. They are all very well run and the food quality is good at all. Four Seasons vs. Cap Juluca: We love the Four Seasons brand. We have stayed in Four Seasons around the world and will continue to do so. Having never been to Anguilla, I debated between Cap Juluca and the Four Seasons. Hands down, we made the rights choice staying at Cal Juluca. We visited and dined at the Four Seasons. It is a stunning and beautiful property; though, you could just as easily be in Miami or Mexico and any other place. The feel is 180 degrees from the authentic vibe of Cap Juluca. My wife and I agreed we made the right choice. I sure staying at the Foir Seasons is wonderful but we were ready to leave and get back to Cap Juluca when we visited. The Four seasons is corporate and big whereas Cap Juluca is charming and quaint. Anguilla: The island is still very displaced from the hurricane 5 years ago. It’s basically resorts, restaurants and local homes and small businesses. We felt extremely safe on the island. The people are very welcoming and friendly; though, reserved in a good way. I’m glad to have visited their island. Covid: Most all dining and activities are outdoors. There are temperature devices at each restaurant and sanitizing stations. About half the staff wears masks in doors. The others don’t. I was somewhat dismayed that all staff entering our room (bellman, hosts, maids) never wore masks. Though, my wife and I are vaccinated, I still think it appropriate to expect staff to mask while in your enclosed room. It’s such a simple task. Taxi drivers were about 50/50 on masks. Overall: Cap Juluca is a special place. Don’t hesitate to plan a trip to Anguilla and I’d strongly encourage Cap Juluca as the resort of choice. Our expectations were surpassed.

On this, our 14th trip to Anguilla and the 3rd at Cap Juluca, we've run out of superlatives. The point that bears repeating, though, is how the team on this property and Anguillians consistently go the extra mile to make us truly feel like welcome guests in their home. Yes, the beach and the resort are stunning. But it is the people -- from Kevin Carty, the ever present property manager extraordinaire and Lynval who stood in whenever needed...to Gene who always welcomed us back with a smile...to our super attentive villa host, Sonni...to the hardworking beach attendants who became new friends: Jessica, Turvyn, and Clarone...to the breakfast staff at Cips: St. Clair, Priscilla, Eilicia, and the one-and-only Fiona...to Oscar, the pastry chef who outdid himself to make suprise birthday desserts...to the housekeepers who took such good care--these individuals made our stay here so very special. Thank you to each of you for another wonderful trip back to our home away from home.

Cap Juluca truly felt like a paradise on earth! You really feel like you're a world away whilst enjoying the turquoise seas, the powdery sand, and the stunning architecture of this hotel. What really sets it apart though is the top notch service from the staff, the 'Julucans'. They are all a source of pride for Anguilla - friendly, welcoming and fun. Cap Juluca is the perfect place for a romantic getaway and the hotel is setup in such a way that even though it spans the entire Mondays Bay, it never feels crowded or busy, and you can really unwind. We made the most of our short stay by checking out most of the dining experiences on offer - Pimm's is not to be missed as the views are breathtaking (make sure you get a table by the sea). The Cap Shack is a great hangout spot, with music, lunch bites and of course the ocean view. I can't recommend Cap Juluca enough - we'll definitely be planning to come here again.

Amazing food, gorgeous beach, and the kindest people. This vacation was easily the best vacation we have been on and we will certainly be back. My family and I have been on several beach vacations, but this beach is easily the prettiest one we have ever seen. The view from our room was stunning; I have never seen clearer water. Every day, we were greeted by the amazing staff, each of them wearing a smile and ready to help with anything we needed. This resort was amazing, and we would 100% recommend it.

This was our first stay at a Belmond resort, and we were not disappointed. Cap Juluca has it all. Incredible beach, excellent restaurants, beautiful rooms, and most of all —— unparalleled service. As an example, one day we called the host desk for a golf cart and headed down to the front of our villa. Normally, a golf cart would be there as soon as you came out. This evening, we waited, and none arrived within a couple of minutes. When we saw a golf cart, we stuck our thumbs in a hitchhiking motion and the cart stopped. It wasn’t the cart we ordered, but the General Manager, Sasha Tyas on her way somewhere. When we explained that we were waiting for our ride, she immediately told us to hop in and turned the cart around to take us to the main building. As we headed off, our cart arrived and we switched carts. That really impressed us! Below are just a few areas that also impressed us about Cap Juluca. Host Desk We have never had a concierge or host desk provide the assistance that the Cap Juluca team provided. It started with the preparation of an itinerary for us which included all of our evening meals. Not only did they make reservations, but also scheduled taxis for each off premise meal. What’s more, you are assigned one taxi driver for the entire visit, which is really a nice touch. In addition, for those of you flying into St. Martin and taking the ferry over to Anguilla, be prepared to fill out the ridiculous EHAS form. There are literally questions that you cannot answer like who is your contact person and Doctor on St. Martin. Contact the host desk and they will help you through this form before you pull all of your hair out! On Premise Restaurants We dined at all four restaurants and enjoyed them all. Service was excellent at each restaurant. Our favorite restaurant at Cap Juluca was the Peruvian Cuisine restaurant, Uchu. I had the El plato de San Juan, a grilled flank steak with chimichurri and quillabamaba coleslaw and it was excellent. Try to get there a little early and grab a seat on the front row by the shrubs and enjoy the incredible sunset and view of the resort. We also visited the Cap Shack beach restaurant frequently for lunch and was very impressed with their food. We highly recommend the fish taco, it was the best we’ve ever had and we’re from Texas! Rooms We stayed in a second floor Junior Suite with solarium. We liked the junior suite a lot, it was very spacious and the balcony was open on two sides, which allowed for more air flow. The solarium is awesome, but it does get hot. We asked for a fan on the first day and that helped keep it cooler. I did not check out a room with a rooftop terrace, but I did note that the stairway does take up some of the balcony space. Second floor vs first floor is personal preference, but we liked the second floor. Our room had an incredible view of the ocean directly from our bed. Maid Service Cap Juluca has twice a day maid service and their attention to detail is excellent. In addition, rest assured they know when you are gone and you will not miss your evening turn down service regardless of your dinner schedule. Beach Service Beach service was excellent and our attendant, Carol was personable and attentive. Their small huts are sprinkled along the beach and include full-service bars. Once you determine a particular preference for your chairs and umbrellas, they will set it up the same way each morning. Snorkeling Cap Juluca has high quality masks and snorkeling by the restaurants (Cips and Pimms) was great. I saw a puffer fish, a hermit crab, and a myriad of other fish along the wall. Saber Ritual If you have time, we highly recommend the evening Saber Ritual. We went twice and really enjoyed getting to know the various members of management and other guests. Both Sasha Tyas and Kevin Carty, the Resident Manager were there at our first visit. Pool As you can tell from pictures, the pool is not a focal point. You will not miss hanging out at the pool once you realize how nice the beach is. This also contributed to a more adult atmosphere, which was really nice if you are looking for a little adult R & R. Although we rarely visit the same resort twice, I can tell you that Cap Juluca could very well be on the short list of resorts we visit again. It was truly a great trip!

This place was incredible - location, beach, rooms, service...everything top notch! I cannot recommend this place more its the perfect place. Upon arrival they take you to an outdoor sitting area to check in and see the beautiful ocean. Our room was in villa 16 and was jaw dropping gorgeous. It was our honeymoon and they left a nice bottle of champagne and a dessert treat at check in. The room itself was impeccable, the view from our room, the proximity to the ocean and the open air bathroom were beautiful. Service was so amazing, they were the kindest people I've ever met. Turn down service each night included a baked treat and they made us feel so special. Each villa came with beach chairs and a yeti cooler that was filled with water. my only complaint is that our beach chairs were only fully set up one time out of the 6 days we were there. Other peoples seats around us were set up each day but when we would ask them they would say "we werent on the list" that is my single negative comment. The beach itself is amazing the sand is like sugar, and the water is clear and blue. All non motorized items are included and we used the paddle boards, and small boat. Cap Shack was a great treat for lunch, and the breakfast location was so nice and for our package the buffet was included. Cips was so delicious and our favorite spot at the restaurant. Pimms was also great service but a little pricey. Book this place immediately it was the best hotel I've ever stayed at and hope to visit many more times.

Beach chairs are assigned to each room throughout the stay, including daily setup for all our guests to enjoy.
