Firstly, this review is based on my experience. We arrived in Pentecost Island to witness the famous Land Diving Festival, we had a choice to go back to the Efate Island after that but we wanted to experience Pentecost Island even deeper by staying for two nights. We were welcomed by Jeanette, the wife of the owner of the said accommodation. At first, you would think she is not friendly at all but it is only a first impression because when you talk to her she is not too bad at all. The place is just in front of the beach (just across the road), our room is also overlooking the ocean. This is a very basic accommodation, the room is just alright, the bathroom is so basic and quite, only cold water but I don't mind at all. In the middle of the night you will be awaken by the loud crowing of rooster and the mooing cow, some guests quite easily irritated by this when I hear about them talking about it in the morning BUT I find this as an "experience", besides I thought to myself that we just need to listen to it for two nights, after that then we can go back having a good night sleep back in Efate Island, therefore it really did not bother me at all. The food is amazing, all local, that is the part I really enjoyed the most and probably the influential part why I gave this 4-star. It started smooth sailing with Jeanette, but later on she became a little bit impatient with us, not to mention wrongly charging us extra with the visit to the Waterfall which we reckon we already paid. Anyway, overall, all good and like what I've said, it was a very good experience for me seeing how the locals live in Pentecost because the Island is more than just the Land diving.

Firstly, the only reason I have dropped one star from the rating is because of the misinformation between Silas the owner (who was not at the property and communicated only via email) and his wife Jeanette (who was at the property). Several activities were mentioned by Silas which could be done, however Jeanette never seemed to know about these and we specifically had to ask about the different things to do during our stay. In short, make sure you know whats available and what to ask for when you get there (IT HELPS) We stayed 2 nights in the double room. Went for the Land Diving Festival. Went for the short jungle walk to the waterfall. Watched the ladies in the village make LapLap. Went to the local Kava Bar in the evening. Food: For such a remote island, and limited supply, they do a great job so make an effort to enjoy the food and the experience. It's amazing. Accommodation: Again, remember why you came to Pentecost Island, don't expect wifi or electricity. There is just about enough to charge your phone and have a small light at night for a few hours. There is no fan or AC. IT can get very hot and stuffy at night, but again it's part of your remote island experience. Transport: Transport is expensive. It takes a little more than an hour to get from the land diving site to the accommodation and about 45 minutes from the accommodation to the airport. Beach Access: An isolated perfect beach is at you doorstep. Overall: A great experience. Personally I would not stay more than 2 nights but it's up to each one to make their own decision. If you don't have kids, I would definitely recommend staying the 1-2 night on Pentecost to get a feel of remote Vanuatu as opposed to flying in just for the festival. The dorm bedroom was basic but decent. The bathroom facilities were very tired. The evening meal with the other guests was the best part. The food was decent and very plentiful and it was nice to sit down and eat as a group. When we attempted to check out our experience deteriorated rapidly. Vinneth demanded more money from us for the transport to and from the land diving. Silas, the owner whom we met in Port Vila, told us that the transport would be split between everyone on board and would be much cheaper. However, Vinneth insisted we had to pay the full individual price despite the fact we shared the transport with various other groups. She made various and different excuses saying the other groups were private and didn't need to pay or that we got on the wrong transfer and saw the wrong land diving. Finally, she turned on us by implying we were bad people who "had money but didn't want to spend it" and that we were "bad for the local community". This nasty exchange means I can not recommend this place to anyone.

Seeing the landing diving is wonderful. If you need to overnight here be prepared for very basic services. We stayed two nights, thinking it would be nice to travel the island a bit... waterfall & relax.... the waterfall is nice but transportation is a couple hundred dollars for 1/2 day trip. The food is very basic to barely edible. (And I’m being nice) we resorted to buying spam to fill ourselves from the school 1/2 hour walk up the road. The shared cold shower was a trickle...no soap. It’s better to wash in the cold waterfall or river. The bed is hard. We all came back with gardia - from drinking the rainwater or possibly the Kava bar? Good things: it’s extremely quiet and very pristine ocean - no snorkel or fish available.

I stayed here for 2 nights with a group. When we first arrived we saw the land diving which was amazing and definitely worth the trip. The roads are all unmade and transport is on the back of a ute. The next day we went on a 45 minutes walk/hike to a water fall with a guide. Its a bit of a slog, however when you arrive you get to swim under a beautiful water fall. You need to take good water proof shoes as you walk up a river to get to the falls, thongs are not suitable. The guest house provide all meals and a basic room with pillow, sheets and towel. There is limited electricity, ,some rooms have solar lighting. There is no fan. Bring a good torch and a water bottle so you can fill up at the water tank. Showers are cold and water pressure weak due to them being gravity fed. Opposite a pebble beach which is great for swimming, water is so warm. There is no wi-fi, bring books and cards to play. Bring your own snacks as there are no local shops. The place is isolated, however that is part of its charm.
