Hi, when I rated this hostel as terrible, I really meant it, it’s terrible in all measures. I spent two weeks in Italy, a lovely one week in Rome, amazing four nights in Florence and five nights in Chianti, and my experience in that hostel...More
Rooms and bathrooms were very clean, breakfast available for purchase, close to an amazing vineyard that gives wine tours. Staff was hard to find at times, however, they are the friendliest people ever. Lockers are also extremely spacious. I loved this town and this hostel.
When we arrived, the hostel was pretty empty- just a few other people were there. The rooms were very nice and clean with very large luggage lockers. The kitchen was a little inconvenient because there was no stove- just a microwave and a toaster oven....More

From Rome you can catch a train to Florence and then a Busitalia bus from the terminal next to the central S.M.N. station.
from here you can then connect to Siena and also sangimignano as well as Florence.

We did not came across any day tour starting from Ostello del Chianti or Tavarnelle. All tours start from Florence. The hostel would probably help you with the bikes but we dont think tour is an option. Between Tavarnelle and Florence their is a single bus. For us, we tried a walk on the highway. There were two nearby old towns on the way. We got to get inside a large farm in between and we did wine tasting. But it was a really long walk !!
