Wayland's Country House is a good energy place, with great light and delicious food. I sense an excellent spot for writers and creatives. The farm is full of fascinating history, with lots to explore, or simply sitting on the stoep looking at the breath-giving mountains. Carl is a wonderful host with a rich understanding of the history and exceptional cooking skills! Thank you for a restorative and energising time.
My husband and I spent two nights at Waylands, on arrival on our motor bike the road in was slightly wet but passable and well worth the journey. Pieter greeted us as we arrived and we instantly liked the place. We had the house to ourselves as no other guests were booked in. We had afternoon tea and were delighted by the ham and cheese pastries and cup cakes. Dinner that evening was a cheese and fig tart followed by a fillet of beef with potato and veg and dessert was a hazelnut torte. Karl and Pieter certainly know how to spoil you. The next days delights were equally as stunning started by a fabulous breakfast. I would highly recommend a visit to waylands very peaceful and relaxing!
This was our favourite honeymoon destination, simply because everything was just great - Karl & Pieter are the best hosts and cooks. We stayed in the big farm house, was served with lovely breakfast every morning at the pool, delicious eats with tea time on our veranda and chef standard three course meals for dinner in the 'restaurant'. We loved to be in the middle of nowhere really, enjoying nature and the peaceful atmosphere. Lovely places to hike. Will definitely return with more friends / family!
We were recommended to go here whilst in Port Alferd and although it was somewhat difficult to get to it was well worth the trip. Pieter kept in touch to ensure we ended up in the right place. The house is full of history and the surrounding areas have excellent walks. Just as well because you need to walk off the fabulous food. From breakfast through afternoon tea to evening meal everything was just right. Sitting on the balcony watching the wild life was idyllic We will return
We spent an amazing 5 days at Waylands; an exceptional find in the Katberg Mountains. Carl and Pieter run an amazing guest house; great hospitality, food, lodging and all-round ambience. Once you've visited you'll feel like family and will want to keep returning. Well worth a visit if you're looking for an authentic South African farm experience. Food was exceptional....
