From the moment you step into the Principe di Salina hotel you feel a sense of calm. It's a little boutique paradise. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are modern and sophisticated and comfortable. The grounds are impeccably decorated and the food and drinks are to die for. Do not hesitate to book and stay at this gem. Well worth it. Definitely plan to eat at least one dinner and one lunch at the hotel. Ideally you'd rent a car or moped if you want to get around the island. There's free parking.

We have just returned from 15 sublime days at Principe di Salina, in Malfa, the nicest of Salina’s towns. The 12 hotel rooms center around a large villa on three levels, built around an infinity pool overlooking the sea, the island of Stromboli 50km in the distance with its ever-exploding volcano and the Island of Lipari about 15km away. Meals are served around a single long table, together with all the other guests, creating lots of friendly interaction. The hotel is owned by Sylvana & Francesco who have just refurbished it and manage it with their daughter Anita. Together they take care of your every need, e.g. boat and car rentals, hiking plans, restaurant reservations, taxis etc’, while taking into consideration any special requirements you might have, e.g. dietary (vegetarian, pescatarian, Kosher). The quaint town of Malfa is a five minute walk, and Scario beach a ten minute walk. In Malfa you’ll find a few boutiques and restaurants, and during the summer they have occasional concerts at night in the little town square. Pollara, where Il Postino was filmed, is but a 15 drive, there the sun sets on views of the Islands of Alicudi and Filicudi. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with few guests hanging around the beautiful pool during the day, most are busy exploring the gorgeous island or hiking up the mountain range just behind the hotel. The pool has full service and you can order meals and drinks there any time. At night Sylvana puts on beautiful candle lit dinners, which she cooks, different Sicilian specialties every night. We brought our girls (12, 16, 18) and thoroughly chilled out for 15 days in an intimate atmosphere. Magic!

This is a first for me, never posted before but wanted to let everyone know about this restaurant. It's very small so you need to reserve, the food is fantastic and they have a great selection of wines. They will send you a daily email with the menu du jour so you can decide if you want to dine there and they even adjust the price if you decide not to eat the full course menu which is only 30 Euros! Treat yourself and go watch the sunset from the balcony which has an outstanding view!

Firstly taken by the beautiful cluster of Isole Eolie in the clear blue Tyrrhenian Sea on the ferry over you will climb from the harbor to Principe Tyrrhenian Paradise overlooking the sea with the mountain at your back where Principe’s owner/operator family and equally happy and motivated staff tend to your needs - should there be any. The grounds and the infinity pool with it’s poolside bar are inviting enough to spend the entire stay poolside. Do not go away from the property for lunch - eat poolside- the dishes were fresh and flavorful and a bargain to boot. The rooms are clean, dark, quiet and cool (ac). Dinner at Principe ( verbally signup before say 4sh pm) is a real treat with individual traditional dishes served at a communal table. The spectacular sunset and then after dark episodic Stromboli minieruptions ( every 10 mins or so when we were there) provide a magical backdrop for dinner.

We stayed here mid May and had a truly wonderful 8 nights. Beautiful room with superb sea views. Anita was exceptional, linguistically talented, informative and made every guest feel special. The food was superbly delivered night after night by Silvana and nothing was ever too much trouble. We would highly recommend this special hotel and we hope to return one day. Lynn and Tim
