Capofaro is a refuge, an oasis, inspired by love for beauty, expressed by the owners the Tasca d’Almerita family. The classic Eolian style whitewashed buildings, adorned with bougainvillea flowers and the fresh water swimming pool stand among six hectares of Malvasia vineyards; which produce both dry and sweet wines. Before guests the horizon stretches out, broken only by the silhouettes of the volcanic islands of Stromboli and Panarea in turquoise sea. The twenty-seven rooms all have a private terrace with either a sea or garden view. They are divided into five types – standard, superior, junior suite, exclusive suite and imperial suite. From 2018 six rooms with their own garden will occupy the hotel's lighthouse which overlooks the Capofaro cliff and the splendour of the Aeolian sea, with the twin mountains of Salina behind it. The chef at Capofaro leads guests on a sun-drenched gastronomic journey, infused with the salty and sweet flavours of the produce grown in the property's

I just fell in love with Capofaro on arrival. The room was delightful just up from the pool and our friends were in the adjacent block - it felt so comfortable with a dee terrace to sit and read, or have a little drink before dinner with a fab sea view. The pool area was sleek and well appointed, with a raised terrace overlooking the sea that was perfect for after dinner grappa and long games of back gammon. The food was all locally sourced and delicious. The pasta pomodoro was the best I have ever had. Meanwhile the breakfast buffet was a feast in every sense. I truly hope to come back one day.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and fell in love with this resort. Everywhere you stand on the property has an incredible view of vineyards leading into the ocean, the Aeolian islands off to the distance, or the mountains of Salina behind you. The rooms are very nice with beautiful views and small patio’s but the best part of this property is by far the pool area where you can enjoy apertivi in the evening watching the sunset over the Aeolian Islands. The breakfast was also a highlight with freshly baked pastries, delicious meats and cheeses, champagne, and freshly squeezed juices. I would highly recommend spending an entire day relaxing by the pool, eating lunch in the restaurant, napping, and enjoying apertivi and dinner in the restaurant. The tasting menu for dinner was one of the best meals I’ve ever had (see my review of the restaurant separately). In addition to the food, the service and resort amenities are very nice. They offer free transportation to and from the port and shuttles into the other towns on the island multiple times a day. They also have a deal with a local beach to get free beach passes to a lido/beach club. We used these free shuttles for 2 days but had such a good time relaxing at the hotel we wish we would have stayed on the property more to enjoy the amenities

We were here to celebrate my birthday. This is a beautiful property. Truly picturesque. The food and service are excellent. The wines very good. You have to see it to understand how pretty it is, and then you have the volcano right across the water erupting every few minutes at night... GO!!

Lovely lunch in beautiful surroundings, fabulous fresh ingredients. Delightful desserts and dessert wine. We purchased their own dessert and white wines. Very attentive but not overbearing staff. Lovely to see all their home grown produce.

I’ve stayed here before and thought the place was better then. It is still lovely - the sea and the bright flowers and white buildings are so pretty. But the service is a bit slow, not up to par with relais et chateaux. Also the room we were given to begin with didn’t feel like a suite (we’d booked a suite at about 1000 euros or so a night) but an ordinary room so we were forced to upgrade and they charged us 200 euro more which felt like something they could have just given us given that the other room wasn’t that desirable. The highlight is the beautiful pool where you could spend all day with pretty views. If the service level was taken up a notch then I’d probably give 5 stars.
