This lovely family hotel was a great choice, and a very fair offer for a solo traveller. First of all, I felt as I was at a vacation with my closest family. The room was cosy, redecorated in white and blue style and cleened every day. The pool with a garden was soo sweet, lemon tree, it was so great to have breakfast there. Above it there is a nice big terrace to sit in the evening. Also, mr Marinos and his fife and son were a great hosts. Breakfast was fine, and I ate at a taverna in hotel wcih runs a brother of mr Marinos, and everything was delicious and reasonably priced in a real traditional Greek enviroment - blue tableclothes, traditional music. One evening mr Marinos took me to a boat trip around bay to show me some small beaches and it was very interesting, I even tried to ride a boat and that was exciting. Ammoudara gas a great 6 km sandy beach (5 min walk from a hotel) , lots of space, warm water, shops - wery good one with a bakery in the next building) , restaurants nearby, but never overcrowded, bus stop in front of the hotel, direct line to airport, city center, Knossos, travel agencies with excursions... I had a great holliday and I was so sorry to leave, but there will be a time to visit my dear friends in this sweet place.

The pool it s nice. Our room balcony was small , but to drink something after dinner it was perfect . Thank you #Roxani hotel for everything , I hope to see you next year 🥰

Definitely I would not recommend this hotel. Real name should be motel instead hotel.
We bought 7 nights, but after 2 nights we decided to left this creepy hotel.
Rooms are vrey small and the doors are not closing at all and you can hear all your neighbors, in special during night. Bathroom is very small and the water from shower will go onto room floor. Breakfast is a joke, and you do not have from where to choose (e.g. milk, cereal, 2x type of bread, butter, gem, 'omlette', something which is named coffee, old croissants).
to be honest, considering the price I would pass over all this inconveniences, but the cherry from the cake is the fact that YOU WILL NOT HAVE WARM/HOT water at all!!!
In the 1st night we had warm water, but after that, only cold water we could find in the shower.

I almost forgot it, air conditioners are too loud, and trust me when they are louder, because I am fan of loud cars.

Nice hotel, room was pretty but the bathroom was far too small. Toilet impossible to use due to space. Owner is nice but cleaners talk about you behind your back. Breakfast poor quality all the food was cold.

During August, me and my husband went to Crete for 7 days and stayied at Hotel Roxani in Ammoudara.5 years ago we went to this Hotel and we felt so good, that now when we got this opportunity,we said we must not miss it The rooms are big enough for 2-4 persons, with TV, AC and WiFi in all rooms (all included in the price).
Daily cleaning, and sheets changing at 3 days.
The hotel has 2 floors, and elevator, but also at groud floor, rooms for persons with disabilities.
The garden is full of grass, flowers and small trees, and the swimming pool is quite big and very clean.
In the evenings, many times, we have chosen to eat at the hotel, because Kir Marinos cooked on the grill (or stone oven) barbecue or Kleftiko, all at very cheap price, and also drinks are very cheap.
Very important: they accept pets!
But most important thing in mi opinion, is the family atmosphere you meet there.
Towards last time we were at this hotel, breakfast is much enriched. Daily you get eggs, salami, cheese, very good coffee, milk, cereals, toast bread, honey...but if you want something else, can order (not free of charge).
Roxani hotel is placed in the middle of Ammoudara, and just in fron is a bus tation. No.1 taking you to the airport (via Heraklion center), no.6 going to Heraklion center and an express buss directly to Knossos.
The sea... the sea is quite 100 m (bai nu e asa! Eleni Palace e la 150 m, e la 300 m) full of beach chairs and umbrellas, free of charge

The hotel was great to stay at. The rooms were clean, modern and well maintained. There is a nice and clean swimming pool, nice garden and bar. The beach is a few minutes away and restaurants and shops are just up the nearby main road. The owners is friendly and the dinner served at the hotel was Greek-mom-cooked and tasty!
We had a very pleasant stay and we recommand the hotel for the very kind hosts, very friendly and helpful people. They will make their best to make you feel confortable. The breakfast is very good, with Cretan specialties and you can enjoy it around the pool - The garden is refreshing at night, and there's always a good dinner prepared in the traditionnal stone oven. The rooms are clean and confortable, with balcony and screen tv ;-) . It was great, relaxing stay.
My wife and I go back to the hotel is the third summer, and every time owners are greeted us as relatives who have been in a very long trip ....
The whole atmosphere at home and comfortable naredkost: smiles and caring owners make a sunny day even warmer still sunny))), where you will always provide a warm welcome, a real Greek meal and hospitality.
If you decide to vacation in Crete, only to Roxani Hotel: kindness, caring and a great vacation will be provided for the whole year!!

I am lucky enough to have stayed here 20 years ago and 5 times since, for me, its perfect..
I am coming back this year because its what i crave, pure, raw greece!
No frills, no fancies....it is basic, but for me that is the charm, a wonderful family running a traditional taverna, if u want plasma tv's and 6 pools, other places are around.
Please just come here if you are willing to lay urselves bare and embrace crete in a all its simple beauty

The food is very bad. You can only choose one way and the breakfast is margarine and salami which was not tasty. you don't have water only if you ask.
Dinner can be take only between 19:00-20:00.Again you have only salad and BBQ or other food like musaka ...but only one option .
Swimming pool is open only until18:00.
Billiards and the other game should be paid separately.
Air condition doesn't work very good and you must pay 3 eur per day.
The room is very small.
The staff wasn't friendly.
The beach (10min from hotel)is with gravel and you can not swim ,is not ok for children.

I will not come back here!

First of all, the family running this hotel is wonderful! The children, Maria and Stelios are so nice and helpful, but also Mrs. Vaso, always trying to assist you, so sweet, and her husband Kir Marinos, cooking so well and really making everyone feeling like home.
But, the hotel: The ratio price/comfort/services is, on my opinion the best (10 mark)
-Position of the hotel: on the main street (Andrea Papandreu), about 150-200 m from the long beach of Ammoudara (the beach has 6 km). Can be reached from the airport -bus station in in front of the airport easy to reach with luggage-by bus no. 1 (1,70 EUR/person), step out at Petousis Taverna-ask the driver- and cross the street where you will see Roxani hotel.Taxi costs about 20 EUR from the airport.
In front of the hotel is the bus station for Heraklion (no.6, 1, and 20),and no.20 for port of Keraklion.the tickets can be bought from mini markets (1,70 EUR) or from the bus (2,50 EUR).Knossos (express bus no.2 untill 30 September, costs 5 EUR/person only from the bus).Coming back to Ammoudara from Heraklion, go to Elefteria (Venizelou) plazza and get bus no.,1,6 or 20
-Rooms big enough, with A/C, refrigerator, TV, daily cleaning (also on Sunday), balcony with a round table and 2 chairs
- Facilities: big, nice and clean swimming pool surrounded by a beautiful garden very well kept, and a very cozy terrace with tables for (breakfast, lunch or dinner), a nice inside bar lounge with a pool table.
- Restaurant: we got breakfast included, and it was more than satisfactory (included a very good and strong coffee, milk, cereals, cheese, salami, boiled eggs, olives, juices, tea.... and if not enough could order (not free of charge, but cheap) others, like omelets, fried cheese (try, it worth), etc. In the evening Mr. Marinos prepared such good food in the stone oven like, lamb, pork chops, musaka, paputsaki (aubergine stuffed with meat) and many other things so good..all with some starters like vegetables, or vine leaves stuffed with rice, the menu excluding drinks was very cheap indeed.
