Hotel Miglio D oro Overall impression - terrible. Stayed in two rooms from 31.07.2022 to 08.08.2022. This hotel located in Ercolano, which is in about 30 mins drive from the center of Napoli. The building itself is a big villa from the 18th century. Hotel has a big internal garden with some ruins, fountains, pool area and a roomy private parking. Rooms are quite big with a high 4-5 meter ceiling in old style. We had two rooms on the 3rd floor. From one there is a view to the sea, from another - to the garden and Vesuvio vulcano. There is a beach in about 15 min walk. The beach is small but pleasant and quite clean, with showers and cafe. The rest is about bad things... 1. Air conditioning is a central system and is not working neither in the hotel nor in rooms. We and so many other people reported absolutely no cooling. First two days we were informed about failure. Then it was “repaired” but with no effect. We were promised a compensation but only for 2 days. With fully working air conditioner, the temperature in the room is 28•C! Humidity 74%. People are sleeping with open doors to corridor just to allow some air flow. 2. Breakfast - warm dishes are only boiled eggs some days. Which are also hard to get because of “competition”. One type of cheese, one type of ham, many sweet cakes. Milk and yogurt are warm probably because its also very warm in the cantina. If you want coffee you need to ask for it. Two types: expresso and “americano”. Americano is a half of small cup. 3. Pool - hotel sells pool tickets to local people not staying in the hotel. There is a fight for sun beds every morning. Pool is overcrowded and noisy. 4. WiFi is not working (our rooms were on 3rd level) 5. Occasional problems in the room. When we came, first we’ve got a room were a glass shower door fall inside. They tried to repair it during two days but no luck. Then we’ve got another better room with two windows and working shower.

With the wonderful old building and a nice pool this place has so much potential. The beds were good in a spacious room with at least 4 meters ceiling height and a well equipped toilet. Air-condition worked fine but don't expect to be able to turn the temperature down to 20C. The breakfast had good selection to pick from including yoghurt, bread and some days even egg. Of course with a nice selection of pastries. But don't expect a German or Scandinavian buffet, then you will be disappointed. The building and park has it's imperfections something that's easy to understand with the type of building and size of the park. The maintenance needed to keep it perfect is surely too high. So why the low rating? A long list of things that could have been easily fixed. - Instead of a "Good morning, do you want coffee or tea" at the breakfast the staff more or less avoids you. - Cleaning staff occupies the only elevator during the day. - The rain shower is completely limed up and unusable. - A broken hairdryer is left in the room with a note on it that says broken. Why haven't it been removed? A working one hangs on top of it. - Room categories are treated a bit to flexible, don't expect to get exactly the category you paid for. - Short power outages almost every day and a longer on one of the days. - Very late cleaning. Coming back for siesta at 16:00 and the room is still not cleaned.

So, we stayed here last week, left on Sunday. The hotel building is indeed stunning, really very beautiful. It’s the rooms in my experience that are the problem. We stayed as a family in room 106 with a sofabed for our children. It took 1 night, just 1 - our 17 year old woke up with a horrendous, like flipping horrific number of bites. We weren’t sure what they were at first , we thought mosquitoes but oh no , they were flea bites !!! She had a total of 72 by the time we left. Obviously, we complained, the sheets were changed - the sofabed remained. A doctor was sent by the hotel as the inflammation was so severe. The hotel didn’t care, the gentlemen on reception are as much use as a chocolate teapot - absolutely useless. I would also like to add the air conditioning did not work and fans were only provided upon our request. This hotel takes gaslighting to a whole other level guys - you’ve been warned !!!! Looking for hot water for a shower , please take note you ain’t gonna find it here …..

The hotel itself is a villa built in the 18th century. The building and garden may have been beautiful and very exclusive quite a few years ago. These pictures are still up on the booking.com pictures, but they are not like that today, so if we look at it we felt a little deceived. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of staff, possibly a lack of capital for renovation and maintenance. Most of the fountains and parkland in the park area are not operated at all, they are filled with dirty water and there is garbage in several places, though it could be a dazzling park. The pool and surroundings are super. The staff is kind and helpful. Breakfast is very poor, not too fresh, which would be offset if the bread, vegetables and fruits were cut aesthetically more beautifully. We were completely satisfied with our room, which was big, comfortable, clean. Unfortunately the restaurant is not open, there is no lunch or dinner, and several huge rooms are empty and it would be wonderful to have a restaurant. We went to nearby restaurants to eat, we ate incredibly delicious pizzas at the Ro.Vi pizzeria. All in all, value for money is definitely worth booking here and we had a great time, we spent 4 nights here with our toddler.

When you eat breakfast at 10am, then you have to do with left overs! No refill. Breakfast is already very limited in the first place. You better find a bf place as an alternative if you stay for a week holiday. Staff hardly speaks english :-(.

Do NOT trust the pictures! This hotel is very run down and in extreme disrepair. We called for a pick up from the airport and they didn’t come. We checked in very late, otherwise we would have left upon arrival. The air conditioner did NOT work and breakfast was joke. It is walking distance to the ruins and the train station.

Hotel cancelled our reservation a week before our planned stay there, completely ruining our honeymoon. Right now we are left with tickets to the theatre in Naples, Pompei etc but without acommodation. Staff and manager in hotel offered to help in finding a new place but actually did nothing for a whole day... I didn't expect such problems as I booked my stay there via booking.com... I wish I didn't choose Naples as my destination, after whole year of pandemic and working my a** in the hospital I just wanted to relax with my bride... Seems like 2020 is still strong in this one :(

We arrived Friday 21st August really late so didn’t take much in at the time.We Was given room 328. Saturday 22nd we attempted to take a shower and then move a desk and open a cupboard to find everything broken. Cupboard door fell off, desk leg fell off and shower didn’t work properly due to it being completely blocked with lime scale and the bath leaked and flooded the bathroom. The mildew in the bath surround was awful, and the floor at end of bath hadn’t been cleaned for ages. There’s was a congealed substance that had a smell to it. We were then offered two other rooms on 3rd floor. First one bath was visibly broken with panel disconnected and hanging off and the maintenance guy shut the door and moved to the next room. Room 314, where all looked ok but we lost our balcony space. Upon deeper inspection the sheets had holes in them as did the headboards. Large clumps of fluff / dust gathered in all corners and when I turned the shower on i discovered it wasn’t draining away and the the shower tray was turning into a bath and the water was dripping out on to the floor again. This could be seen clearly as shore panel was broken off. Each room the metal curtain hold back were broken leaving jagged sharp edges - they hurt! The maintenance guy said to us he had no money to repair things!!?? The reception staff told me I had to wait for the manager and that he had on a call to them refused to cancel the booking fo free and still wanted one nights payment. The pizza was bland The breakfast bland The evening music was depressing The pool area was dangerous due to many broken steps, I don’t believe the filtration system was on either, not to mention the pool toilets that had been placed Three levels underground in some dirty, dark dungeon where the first stair case had the showers leaking on to them and that had created a black & green slime all down the wall onto the steps! Pool bar was a sad shed thing in the corner. But the guy running it was lovely as was the guy who gave me a glass of wine when I came to complain, but he really met with unhelpful-ness. We couldn’t shower for 2/3 days and in 30deg heat that’s not good for anyone. Facilities paid for were NOT provided at all! The fact this hotel has 4* is shocking, And I’d strongly suggest this hotel is not used for a long stay or if you’d like to shower! It’s a huge shame as it’s set in magnificent grounds that have also gone to ruin, it has the potential to be fabulous but is nowhere near that right now. I wish I could share the videos but not allowed to here.

Beautiful Hotel grounds and pool, lovely staff even though we don’t speak italian. Shout out to the lady at breakfast and Luca. The porter was smiling after a day or two 🙈 Would love to come back! Clean rooms, lots of smiles! Need either a plug to work the jacuzzi or something to pin the shower head up and a screen to make it an even better experience.

These are the gardens and pool. As you can see, they are nothing like the photos and not at all as advertised. We were not advised of this upon booking. We booked the hotel for the gardens and the pool. It was so disappointing.
