Herculaneum B&B is located in the foothills of Mount Vesuvio, in a dominant position, overlooking the Gulf of Naples and its adjacent coastline. It's a B&B apartment on the ground-floor of a modern two-storey villa, surrounded by open spaces in a beautiful natural scenery. Both B&B bedrooms and common areas have recently been redesigned and refurbished, with focus on the needs of prospective guests, just to make it a very cozy place for a pleasant stay.

Hidden gem of a place well located as a base to visit all the attractions. Very friendly, good food and relaxed atmosphere highly recomend. A stone's throw from the ruins at Herculaneum and a lovely walk along to portici.

Excellent room (Positano) and facilities, 24 hour reception, very helpful and courteous staff, private car parking and great breakfast. Would recommend to anyone They also checked their local restaurants to ensure we could get dinner after a late arrival.

Be aware which property you are booking as there is Herculaneum B&B located up Mount Vesuvius in a rather remote location only suitable if you have a car or transport and Hotel Herculaneum located in Ercolano town opposite the Herculaneum ruins and 10 minute walk from the train station. We booked a 4 night stay at Herculaneum B&B before booking we read many reviews which were all positive and the property seemed to have very good ratings however what is unclear on trip advisor is which property the reviews are for, it is important to bear this in mind. As the B&B is rather hard to reach without a car a lot harder with luggage, although not impossible but a great deal of effort. We had booked a transfer through the B&B before arriving for a ride from Ercolano train station to the B&B this turned out to be a very good idea as the property is up a steep incline on Mount Vesuvius and would be very hard to find without local knowledge. Upon arrival we were left by the 2 ladies who had given us the transfer to the B&B after being shown to our room, only 1 spoke very little English, meaning we were then left to figure out everything for ourselves. There was no one here to ask anything or give general information, no welcome card to explain anything. We then tried to use the wi-fi to figure out where we were and plan ahead for the next day but after 3 hours of trying this seemed to not work another guest explained sometimes this does not work when it rains!! This left us feeling very isolated and frustrated after travelling for a long day and no idea where the closest shop or restaurant or any food outlet was for dinner we felt stranded. The only thing we had was a number for a lady but no idea who this person was, where they were or much help at all. The room we were allocated (Purple room steer clear of you are told you are in this room!) seemed ok at first and presentable and clean, there were no curtains just nets on the windows however this is a personal preference. What later became apparent was that our room was right off the dining room one side and had the kitchen adjacent the other end of the room which meant when other guests used these this would be rather loud at any times of the day, night or early hours of the morning. The walls of the room were like cardboard and meant you could not relax or sleep at night, also being woke rather early when anyone turned up to start preparing breakfast. The Bathroom was very small, shower you could hardly turn around in, toilet hardly ever flushed. The first morning for breakfast when we emerged there were a group of people talking in Italian when we came out of our room there was no morning welcome or explanation of the breakfast routine until a few minutes after when a slight awkwardness had set in. After this 1 lady offered a traditional Napoliton Pastry this is nice to try but very stodgy and wouldn’t want very often. The breakfast offering was sparse and rarely replenished unless you asked. It became clear that morning when we met another English family at breakfast who explained they had booked Hotel Herculaneum but been put in the B&B for 1 night that there was another property which was located in the town, that morning we walked from the B&B to the Ercolano taking around 40 minutes this is ok to do but is very steep and hardy on the hips! We then spoke to the Hotel and after a lot of backwards and forwards were able to move to the B&B for the last 2 nights stay paying a upgrade charge, not before spending 1 last night at the B&B were guests decided to have a late night/early hours of the morning party keeping us up have the night! We then spent the 2nd 2 nights at Hotel Herculaneum this exactly what you would expect a clean up to date hotel with a reception desk very helpful receptionists all multilingual and willing to help. The room we were put in was ok not high end but clean and adequate for what was needed. We were told breakfast times, the wi-fi you could connect to straight away, the hotel also served dinner in the evenings which was very good, there was a very nice waiter who served in the evenings who was very obliging, we ate here twice as local surrounding cafes only seemed to serve pizza and pasta which is lovely for a few nights but not for every meal. The breakfast here there was a good selection and the dining area was nice, clean and tidy, there was also a nice terrace area you could sit during the day. Just over the road is the Herculaneum ruins these are a definite to see and a lot more in intimate than Pompeii.

We found the staff friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic and so close to the ruins of Herculaneum. It was less then a ten minute walk from the station. The breakfast was delicious and the complimentary pastries. The only downside in staying here was the traffic noise. It is located on a corner and you do have the noise coming inside your rooms however, I would stay here again.

As we turned off the main road, we were a little concerned as the track lined with junk and rubbish seem to lead to a partly built house that had been then left to decay, eventually we arrived at tall electronic gates, why such high security? However once in, the owner welcomed us although could speak only little English, she gave us the key & told us when breakfast was & where, our room was modern, set to sleep 5 although we were only 2, it was a little dark as it only had one tall shuttered window but we were happy to sit outside & enjoy the evening sun. The room was clean although the cleaner had failed to notice the thick layer of dust on the bathroom blind, our bed amazingly comfy we slept almost 12 hours! Breakfast great with a wide selection and regional pastries, great coffee and friendly service from Maria, who could speak English & chatted about our holiday.
