I have to say this is the best holiday i have ever had. I've stayed in hotels before where there are activities but this goes to a new level- you explore and go (comfortably) to your limites to experience the most beautiful scenery and spiritual location - treks, climbs, horse back riding...I was so sad when I left because I... The Lodge and location are unsurpassed. The views spectacular the staff and guides wonderful. As a motel manager I can honestly say I would happily have anyone at the Lodge on my staff. From housekeepers to guides they are professional, well trained and very knowledgable. The food was fabulous even for those like me with special dietary requirements. The activities... More

This was hands down the best trip I have ever taken. From the hiking to the horseback riding to the accommodations and food, it was all a fantastic experience. Worth every penny. Going in the shoulder season was a great plan for us. We had the Torres Del Paine park to practically to ourselves. The hikes range from 20KM and... More

We planned this trip as a last minute adventure, and it was the best vacation we have ever taken. Explora Patagonia was made for people like us---you need to be excited by the idea of waking up to hike all day only to return to the hotel exhausted, ready to relax at the spa and drink a Pisco sour. Although... More

Absolutely mind blowing views and setting. A truly spectacular location . The Torres Del Paine National Park has to rate as one of the wonders of the world. The Explora hotel is both beautiful and well run. All the guides are enthusiastic , knowledgeable and professional. It was great being able to sit down and discuss the next days plans... More

We went to Patagonia specifically for the stunning scenery & the location. In no way were we disappointed in this aspect of the hotel. The staff & the guides were excellent and tried to fit each activity with each individuals ability we were well looked after. To me the one disappointing thing was the quality of the food. Whilst you... More

Explora Patagonia is truly a special place - we've been around quite a bit and there is nothing to compare it to. It's part luxury lodge, part safari camp, part youth hostel (the young guides, and the camaraderie), and part Four Seasons Go on a world class hike/horseride and come back, have a cocktail, a high quality three course meal... The very idea of this hotel is great - hikes or horse riding during the day and luxury at night. We spent our days doing hiking or horse riding in Torres del Paine and then finished the day with a hot tub (beautiful view), champagne, good company and food. The hotel itself is beautiful. We enjoyed our nights sitting by... More

Explora is amazing from the time they pick you up until the time they drop you off. And everything is top notch. I saved up for a year to have the pleasure of staying 6 nights. This is the perfect amount of time. We saw all the "major" sights. We did 3 full day hikes & 5 half day hikes.... More

In retrospect, I am truly glad that I had the Explora experience but feel compelled to warn of the isolation of the place with respect to safety. Younger people probably never consider the "what if's", but older, though physically fit, people must. On an 8 hour hike, I couldn't help think what level of assistance would be available if someone... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our lodge is located right in the heart of the extraordinary Torres del Paine National Park in southern Patagonia. The diverse and untouched landscapes of this area led UNESCO to declare it a biosphere reserve. Our Patagonia hotel lodge opened in 1993 on the banks of the Salto Chico waterfall. It affords an excellent view of the unique Paine Massif and two of the three impressive torres, or towers, which give the park its name. The lodge has 49 rooms and a variety of inviting spaces. Situated on a 3-hectare (7.4-Acre) site, the design borrows certain organic forms from the landscape itself, adapting to it with simple elegance. It was designed to create a dialogue with its environment, putting human beings in touch with the sublimity of their surroundings. For travellers, the lodge provides the welcome surprise of comfort in a remote area. Nonetheless, you are not isolated from nature, but rather placed "within" it. ... more   less
