My wife and I choose Tott hotel for a week-long skiing trip to Are in late April because it was billed as four star, with ski-in/ski-out facilities, ski rental and within easy reach of the town as well. The views over the town and lake are amazing, the ski shop staff were very friendly and efficient, proximity to the funicular railway is very convenient and the spa facilities are good. The ski-in/out is a T-bar and red run, so not ideal for beginners and this late in the season, half of that lift was closed due to lack of snow. We arrived at 12.30pm to discover that check-in was not until 4pm and that we has unintentionally booked a room with no windows (I didn't imagine they had them, so did not check carefully enough...). The hotel kindly agreed to give us a room with a window (towards the mountain) but the occupants had a late check-out until 5pm. When we got into the room, the only signs of cleaning were made beds; there was dust and hairs everywhere, and there was a poo in the unflushed toilet. We subsequently discovered that the room is privately owned, hence the late check-out and the locked cupboards. There was only about 25cm between the sides of the bed and the bedroom walls, giving a good chance of loosing a knee cap if you got up in the dark and forgot about the radiator sticking out about 10cm. After requesting that the room be cleaned properly, it remained very dusty everywhere. The next problem was a popping sound coming from the kitchen sink every 10 seconds or so, at random times but throughout one night. When we complained the hotel suggested that we might like to move into the windowless room that we had originally booked. We discovered that the hotel does not offer food in the evenings Mon-Wed, which seemed pretty poor for a four star hotel, even in the low season. Someone in the town told me that the Tott Hotel will not have a restaurant at all next year. The breakfast was plentiful, with plenty of choice and good gluten/lactose-free options, but exactly the same every day. We would not stay at the Tott Hotel again because the servicing of the rooms is poor and is clearly not checked by a supervisor, plus the late check-in is not what you need after a long journey.

The hotel has a good location and is easy to access the lift. The room was very small and we were missing a chair to sit In - there were 2 beds and you could only sit In the beds if you wanted to sit and we were also missing the balkon and the possubility to open the windows. The staff were very serviceminded

The hotel needs some renovation. The furniture was falling apart and balcony door impossible to close. The housekeeping was incredibly poor. The restaurant staff was attentive and polite even if the wait was long at times.
