Daiwa Ryokan was near the JR station. It is a good location but the rooms were decently heated. The corridors were especially chilly in the subzero temperatures in December (they really should on the heaters there). Otherwise there was a nice onsen there which we could enjoy. We stayed for one night there.

We loved our stay here. It's convenient to get around. Tatami style rooms very very clean and comfortable. Loved the hot spring here too. The owners are an elderly couple who doesn't speak much English but they were always smiling. Would definite stay here again if we come back.

It is a bit far from the bus terminal but acceptable distance. The room is super big, include a living room which can accommodate another 4 person at least. Our room is facing the lake, at night when the fireworks show started, we can view it very clearly from inside the room. The onsen is free. But they do not...

Daiwa seems suspended in time - service, decor, and prices set in the 1970s. For a stay at Toya onsen (Toya-ko) of up to three nights, Daiwa is more than adequate for most needs. Pricing is set at an extremely reasonable, if not amazingly cheap rate for the spacious room provided. For two people, we had access to the standard...

I stayed here for a night, travelling solo. The room was large and had an amazing view across the lake. The onsen was empty both times I used it and was very relaxing. I chose to have both breakfast and dinner at the hotel and the food was great! Perfect location to see the fireworks on the lake each night....

It is a nice traditional hotel where you can sleep in futons on tatami and bath in their onsen. As experience it was really nice, the staff is extremely friendly. I am italian and the owner googled and wrote down how to say me goodbye in italian. He was really nice. Anyway there is no working wifi and the place...

The room and onsen are overall clean, and it is just 2 minutes walk from sakura matchi stop whereby the toyako onsen shuttle bus will pass by. The staff is helpful to guide us for the transportation issue that we were facing over there. Love the simple breakfast that prepare by the lady boss, I ate 2 bowls of rice...

If you are looking to experience the Japanese way of sleeping. This accommodation will give you the experience. The place is old but fairly well maintain. Common toilet. You need to get yr own kettle from a common area. I was looking forward to the onsen and was totally disappointed. The female side only has one hot pool as the...

We stopped at Daiwa Ryokan one night during our trip in Hokkaido. We didn't like Toyako - it seems to be a deserted lake-side resort. Everything looks worn out, and this is especially true for Daiwa Ryokan. Dubious cleanliness of bed sheets and no bathroom in the room.

As a budget (solo) traveller, this place was perfect for me. Prices in Toyako are a little high, so this place is extremely reasonable. I had a huge room to myself, which was a little rough around the edges but was clean and didn't smell like smoke as many cheap ryokan do. It's traditional style, so no en-suite, only shared...
