Melia Las Dunas garners mixed reviews, with many guests enjoying its vibrant atmosphere, complete with lively music and engaging entertainment. The service stands out, with staff often described as attentive and friendly, although there have been some hiccups with speed and room service. It was a week in this hotel. After crossing the 49 km Pedraplen the arrival produces a very good impression. Ad.hoc staff takes care of the luggage, so we can quietly check in and have lunch until the rooms are ready.
The entire lobby area, reception, common spaces and bar , with a predominance of white and decorated with plants and water mirrors. An extremely spacious and pleasant place although almost totally open, which is why on windy days this was a bit annoying.
The whole property is very large. the rooms are distributed in blocks. All two stories and and about 24 rooms in each. Noteworthy is the layout that ensures privacy and silence The room is comfortable and quite spacious. In the bathroom limited supply of amenities, and perfect the quality of the towels. Some days hot water was missing, this seemed to be widespread in several blocks. , For eating there are places to choose. The main buffet serving breakfast, lunch and dinner at set times, the beach restaurant operating from 13 to 15 with predominant pizza and grill offerings, 24-hour snacks; specialty restaurants, pool bars and the beach.
All spaces are traversed by paths bordered by bushes, green spaces with flowers, fountains, stones that make up a harmonious landscape. The problem is to travel those paths when it gets dark because the lighting is quite poor , in some sections we had to use the flashlights of the mobile.
The food in the buffet was always plentiful , although we did not find some preferred foods in our country; nevertheless good elaboration, excellent breads and spaces where both breakfast and other meals prepared pastas, fish or pork . omelettes, etc. always very rich.
good number of staff; you could see more experienced people living together and young people who probably hadn't been there that long.
The specialty restaurants, which we had no difficulty getting, although the quota is limited between well and very well in general, except the "Italian" pasta and pizzas from which we had to withdraw without dinner as the lasagna was inedible and , although we requested it, we did not allow us to choose another dish. I hope you were able to fix it since we reported it.
There are two swimming pools, one for adults only; spa, 24-hour medical service and theatre and entertainment equipment.
A separate paragraph for the beach that is spectacular, with fine sand, turquoise water... sea several days calm but two days with quite moved and windy
Perhaps more shade “quinchos!” can be added with bedspreads as although the hotel was far from complete, it was sometimes difficult to get a place.
In short: a place with many enjoyable spaces, comfortable facilities, good care ; and the perfectible aspects are understood depending on the situation and the undoubted damage caused by the pandemic, from which nowhere is it easy to recover.

Nice hotel with everything clean as a Meliá status deserves.
Maybe the furniture needs to be renovated a little.
Everything is really very careful. In my room we saw a problem and as soon as we reported it they immediately resolved it. It has a safe, board and iron, a large bottle of water was replenished every day. It has a tender on the balcony.
There is a shop to buy souvenirs, cigars and rum in the hotel stores.
There is a 24-hour snack, the restaurants with reservations are also very good (which is done next to the reception and they have a QR code to see the menu)
Internet reception is very good throughout the property. In the case of the breakfast buffet, sometimes there was little table/collection staff for so many people (and they have a lot of staff). I only tried the Italian and the international restaurants and they were truly excellent!
The beach, although not wide, has many awnings and lounge chairs. It also has water bikes, sailboat and kayak at no cost. White sand, without shells and water with little waves.
Beautiful place.
There was a pool because the other was under repair, it is huge and with entertainment staff for everyone.
The shows are very nice and the dance team is 100!!!
Very friendly staff and management

The experience was very pleasant, understanding the context in which Cuba is immersed. There was a variety of food although on some days there was no oil for a salad, or eggs, but other days there was. The facilities, pool, landscapes, sea, all very good, but the most notable thing is the friendly attention of the staff (not all of them, to tell the truth, especially those at the main buffet). I would only include as an improvement the fact of taking better care of the common spaces such as the bathrooms in the lobby or others throughout the hotel that left a lot to be desired, except for those in the pool that even had decorations made by the cleaning staff. The guys who cleaned our rooms are great, every day you came across a work of art made with towels or curtains.
In short, the experience is highly recommended, I would return without hesitation.

We recently stayed at MELIÁ Las Dunas as a family (2 adults, 3 kids) in two rooms, and unfortunately, the experience was below expectations.
The resort is very old and in serious need of maintenance. Many things need fixing, and basic amenities were missing.
Rooms & Amenities
• No hairdryers in the rooms. I asked for one daily, but they always said they didn’t have any available.
• The fridge was empty—not even basic refreshments inside.
• You only get one bottle of water per room per day, which is far from enough, especially for families.
Food & Drinks
• The food was very repetitive and poor in quality. We ended up eating pasta every day because it was the safest option.
• If you enjoy sparkling water, don’t expect to find any here.
• Coffee is only available at the lobby bar—not at the restaurants, beach, or any other bars.
Internet
• Extremely limited! Wi-Fi only works in the lobby and pool area. No internet in the rooms, on the beach, or in other areas of the resort.
Beach
• The beach itself is beautiful, but the experience was disappointing. If you like this area, I highly suggest booking a different resort.

Overall, I wasn’t expecting luxury, but basic services like hairdryers, proper food variety, drink availability, and internet access should be standard. I do not recommend this resort.

Dear Guest, It is been a true pleasure to receive you at Melia Las Dunas, you will be always very welcome to our country as to Melia Las Dunas. We deeply regret that our services and facilities were not what you expected, also we want to express our gratitude for take the time to post your opinion in tripadvisor. Indeed our hotel bases its improvement programs in what our guests have to say from their experiences, and we are really interested on the feedback. Of course, not all experience are the same depending on the expectation of the guest had and the why we succeed in meeting and surpassing all of them.It is not really a luxury hotel but a Sun and Beach Hotel, the rooms anique but they are maintained frequently. I am very sorry to hear about what you have told us about the hair dryer situation, we will analyze it with the department in charge because all our rooms have a hair dryer and if it presents any inconvenience, a manual hair dryer will be offered. Our staff works hard to offer an adequate gastronomic offer, perhaps at some point a certain product is missing that affects the variety of the food, but generally it is good. Likewise, we will work towards offering a better offer that manages to satisfy our future clients. We apologize for not having met your expectations. Best regards Melia Las Dunas Management

Extremely dirty hotel, there were cockroaches in the room. They didn’t give you hand towels and the towels didn’t change them daily, nor when you asked them you were all in the room with the same towel no matter what. Dirt under the bed. They didn't put bags in the trash cans in the room.
The buffet was very dirty very dirty ice cream was served to you from Sina plastic bag that came in a box. There were no spoons or milk at breakfast. The waitresses were totally demotivated and unwilling to work. The food was always the same, boiled rice mixed with vegetables and spaghetti. The dining room smelled like stale food.
The gym was used by hotel employees. The security arrived changed and started using the gym along with the animation. They didn't give you towels or water for the gym.
Hot and always missing drinks at 19 ran out of mojito and beers.
The waiters would bring the clean glasses, wipe the sweat with their hands, and then put their fingers inside the glasses to place them.
The pool bathrooms were dirty and with sandpaper.
People behaved very uncivilly, ate inside the pool and took plastic bags with sandwiches they picked up at the snack bar. Used y'all, used dishes and food stains spilled all over the hotel.
This hotel deserves an Ace no more. It's very bad.

Upon our arrival on February the 16th of 2024 we had no bottled water in our room and placed in the wrong room until discovering the next day that the package that we purchased was a grand suite package but was not informed the night of arrival that we had a connecting room. Upon talking to the front desk we were given keys for the second room where the door lock would not work. Upon several attempts to get it to work by the maintenance man it would not work. The very next night I was using the washroom and a RAT RAN INTO THE BATHROOM. I was very panicked at that moment. I called the front desk and they said someone would show up in 20 minutes. Two hours passed and no one showed up so we called back and they said they would send a maid. Then we waited another hour and half and decided to walk to the front desk and they directed us to guest services which was closed. At that time I was very upset with what was happening. After talking to the front desk they stated someone would be there in 20 minutes. A guy showed up with a broom and started swinging it around the room like a baseball bat to find no rat. The next morning upon waking up and going to the other room we found the bathroom shredded, poop everywheres, my girlfriends bag was eaten and poop on the two twin beds and the end tables and my ear phones were eaten. The room was cleaned by house keeping staff and we stayed in that room until our second last day there when the hotel finally moved us to another room that also had door lock problems at that point I was very emotionally frustrated and exhausted from what went on. And it took our travel agent having to get us switched to a different room. I was not very pleased with our visit especially being mine and my girlfriends first time there. I don’t believe we ever be back.

The hotel's location is excellent. Beach time is very enjoyable because of the quality of the water. I had not seen such a crystal clear sea in a long time, not even in Varadero. The gym, despite having some broken equipment, works and its monitors are very attentive. The adult pools are not bad but they lack daytime entertainment and have no place to change towels. For this reason you have to travel a lot to the other pools to change them. The staff, except for 2 or 3 workers, is very boring. There is no professional treatment whatsoever. They seem overwhelmed, with no desire to work. Sometimes they don't even look at your face. The buffet food is not very varied. The restaurant does not have the capacity for so many customers and even finding an empty table is a difficult task. There are not enough plates or spoons. In the Italian restaurant they only offer very hard pizzas and a vegetable starter. No pasta. Terrible room service. They had no schedule to clean and could do it even at 4 in the afternoon. They do not renew shower gel, shampoo, towels or soap until after 3 days. We received the room on the first day without water in the bathroom. The nights are exhausting because there is not much to do until 10 pm when the "show" begins. In the lobby there is a piano that no one plays. Only a few small groups of any genre that play a few songs perform in the afternoon. The hotel is huge and has little or almost no lighting in its outdoor areas. There are also no signs so moving around is like doing it in a maze. I don't think I'll repeat the experience here again.

My family and I stayed for one week at Melia Las Dunas from December 2nd to December 9th. We had a wonderful experience at the resort: it was very well maintained, it had two main exits to the beach and very short walking distance; there were many gardeners who constantly were cleaning and trimming the grounds; the lobby of the resort was huge and there were several bars with a big variety of drinks. The pool was very well maintained as well, there were always beach towels available and there was actually someone from 10am to 5pm who would change the wet towels to new ones. The buffet restaurant had amazing staff working there. Special shout out goes to Naile, Yenny and Sandy. Naile was always very attentive and quick to clean the table or bring drinks. Yenny and Sandy made a great effort to prepare a special table setting for my birthday. They work very hard and care about the visitors very much. The guys at the main lobby bar did an amazing job mixing the drinks and making a fantastic coffee. The cooks at the 24hrs bar made the most delicious burgers and hot dogs for those who would need an after midnight snack. We have been to several resorts at Cayo Santa Maria, but we would definitely recommend and return to Melia Las Dunas.

People who say I had a good time should tell me which Meliá Las Dunas they went to because I had the worst vacation of my life.
The shortage is TOTAL. There is no food, basic foods like milk, oil, spreadable cheese, jam, sweetener, dressings, tea, soda, sometimes there is even no ice or bread. I spent 10 days eating noodles, rice and potatoes.
Cleaning, a disaster. The bathrooms in the common spaces cannot be used due to their lack of hygiene.
They don't change your towels or sheets. They don't replenish toilet paper or shampoo. You have to chase around all the staff to get clean linen, or deal with dirty everything during your entire stay.
Bugs everywhere, cockroaches even in the rooms.
The beach is beautiful, but it is not worth the bad experience or the money spent.
I understand the critical situation that the country is experiencing, but then do not sell or promote this type of trips by offering an all-inclusive regime where you have to move heaven and earth to get something decent to eat and have basic services.
I would never go back again.

Came back with my family from Melia last week. We loved the beach, it was one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, grounds of the hotel were maintained and amazing, staff was wonderful, shout out to Chocolate and her counterpart, they were amazing! Pool was great, always clean. Food was as per Cubans standards, salt and pepper are most of the spices you are going to get, so bring your own if needed. There was a lot of variety though, was impressed, we had lobster 3x while we were there! We were placed in block 11, the hotel room was far and run down and there were ants everywhere, even on our bed... Not just ants, saw other small bugs on the bed too. Have pictures. Told the reception about it, but they said they will get the maid to clean it up, but even after 7 days, they were still there... Had a tough time sleeping at night knowing this, would clean everything from the bed, sprayed with off spray around, then lay down to sleep. Was kinda gross. I should have been more persistent and asked for a transfer but I didn't unfortunately... Lesson learned for next time if we come back...
