I debated myself whether to rate this hotel a 1 star or 5 star, it could very well be a 2 star hotel but at the end I’m giving them a 5 star solely because I don’t want to limit the job opportunities in the community. I’ll start with the good, The location is a paradise with amazing sunsets, white sand, crystal clear waters and biodiversity to top that the FOH (front of the house) staff melts with attentions to the guests, special thanks to Sergio and Christian our butler’s, Lester, Yankiel, Rey javier and Manuel at the bars. The waitresses Lusy, Dalji, Lizz, Glenda, Aldo all of them do an outstanding job. The entertainment team Navy and Anderson are key staff in your experience at this hotel since they provide amazing yoga sessions and aqua aerobics in the morning. The gardeners Lázaro and Yandi always making sure to have a coconut ready for you was amazing, this team deserves a 10 star rating if possible, having said this, the hotel is lacking serious management and top directors, There is no quality or sanitary control in the only restaurant you can have breakfast and lunch, the buffet was always full of flies the menu was repetitive consisting in pasta, chicken, fish and pork, forget about meat in here. It baffles me that management knows they receive international guests and they don’t have an international chef , the few options of food that you have are terrible, no flavour, bland and cold, this cannot be attributed to shortage of condiments since I spoke with the locals and they personally cook very well in their houses with onions, lemons, etc. so it’s definitely the hotel cheap budget impacting the overall experience, the wine served is the cheapest I’ve ever tried, watery and acidic, the chicken tastes like they only took the feathers out and grilled it, I felt nauseous the instant I swallowed my first bite, we were a party of 3 and the 3 of us got food poisoning, I spoke with our butler about this and he says is most likely the ice in the drinks but no, it’s all the e.coli of the flies in the buffet, this problem could easily be fixed by installing a plexy glass covered counters but directors lack initiative, the restaurant glass windows were always dirty, someone could be on top of cleaning this windows every morning but nope, management is okay with finger printed, greasy windows. The whole installation complex is decaying, the first day we arrived I wanted to take a shower at night and the light bulb was not working so I showered in the dark, I called the front desk to have someone fix it but that never happened during my 7 night stay. Broken sinks, broken handles, broken glass, the rooms have a balcony but the doors are lacking maintenance it was practically impossible for one person to open them, had to be two persons pulling very hard to get them open, again this could easily be fixed with some oil in the railings if management was efficient. Overall the amount you are paying does not reflect the value you get, I’m attaching a couple of pictures I took during our stay so you be the judge if it corresponds to a 5 star hotel, We can survive with a decaying building but the food for me was a breaking point because no one wants to get sick on their vacations. …
