Church brothers and sisters (young and not so young) "chilling", relaxing and bonding during a 2-day trip to Milk River Hotel & Spa is what I bargained for and was blessed with! I loved the "old world" feel and relative isolation of this tranquil space. Restful sleep! Commendations to Cynthia, my masseuse, for the wonderful massage with aromatic and healing oils! Clear, clean, warm, mineral rich water for soaking - removed all my aches and pains - No wonder that I did not want to get out of the pool! LOL (A bit of a "face lift" is needed in some areas of the building.) A delicious Jamaican breakfast of callaloo, ackee n salt fish, boiled green bananas, fried dumplings, cornmeal porridge, mint tea (or coffee) and, a sumptuous brown stew fish dinner left me sated. Nordia, the receptionist, and George, ("Mr. Fix It"), and the other staff members with whom I came in contact were friendly and helpful. Several of us are already planning to return for a longer period so that we can also visit nearby attractions - Farguhars Beach and the Canoe Valley learning centre, where we hope to observe manatees!…
Milk River Hotel and spa Old but nice, if you are looking for a weekend of solitude and relaxation this is the place for you. Food excellent, staff courteous. Spa was not too hot but we enjoyed our self, each guest can pick their own private spa.
I took my grandma here for a little healing with her aches & pains. You can definitely tell this water has minerals based on how it smells & feels. Based on personal experience, I think it helped my feet cramps. The cost is so low & they are not strict with time. They are too lenient if you ask me. The staff is very accomodating. The water is luke warm, there is a tiny fish inside as well. This place is very historic. I really don't know why there isn't expansion & more marketing because this place is has potential to attract more visitors. There is someone downstairs who collects the money if you can't or don't wish to climb the stairs. It is a bit far off the main road but there are many signs to direct you. I would definitely return!!!
I came here with my family to have a relaxing afternoon but unfortunately the baths are in need of a renovation. it hasn't been kept well over the years and it shows. When we got into our bath, I noticed a small mass, turned to tell my sister, by the time I turned around it had moved and it turned out to be a crab!! Not impressed, ruined my experience unfortunately. Has a lot of potential.
While on vacation, I sprained my ankle and my host decided to take me to Milk river bath to help heal my swelling and pain that I was having. Although the place is still under renovation, I had a good time. The mineral bath did help with the swelling and alleviated some of the pain. I believe once the renovations are fully completed, it will be a great place to go and spend a night.
