We spent 6 amazing days at JW Marriott Maldives for our wedding anniversary. Upon check in, our room was upgraded from Sunrise Overwater Villas to Sunset Overwater Villas. The sunset every evening from the private pool deck was breathtaking. The luxurious villa was cozy with a very comfortable and spacious bed, high ceilings, huge bathroom, wide private pool deck with sun loungers and sitting area. Housekeeping was always quick yet meticulous and there was always sufficient bottled water provided in the room.
Our butler, Jeff was very friendly, easy going and approachable. He was extremely prompt and helpful at all times. We forgot to pack swimwear and the resort shop wasn't opened yet. He swiftly arranged for it to be purchased from Male and sent over. He felt like a friend which we have known for some time although we only just met. Thank you for everything Jeff! (:
Breakfast was always a spread. We enjoyed the egg station, crab soup, salmon bagel, fresh fruits and juices and variety of pastries. We were grateful for the really attentive staff at the restaurants and poolside, especially Siraf, Luciana, Viciana and Mallata. We had the best seafood pizza by the Horizon Pool, thank you Dan Dan for the recommendation.
Everyone around the island never failed to greet us with a smile. We enjoyed the fitness classes by Diana and yoga classes by Vishnu. The staff at the Dive & Water Sports Center were very professional in assisting us with the stand up paddle board and pedal boat. The white sand and blue waters around the island was paradise. We even spotted baby sharks and small rays near the shores. It's always difficult to decide whether to spend our time at the beach, infinity pools or in our villa.
Transfer arrangement from the airport via seaplane was also very smooth. We were greeted by the very welcoming staff (sorry we didn't catch his name) once we stepped out of the arrival gate. He was also the same staff who came to pick us up when we returned to Male for our departure. Although our seaplane arrived slightly later, he was calm and smiley, reassuring us that everything will be fine.
We were initially concerned that the place might be still very new and there were also not much reviews or information available. Nazira from reservations was very detailed and prompt in answering our enquires from the point of booking to arranging our seaplane transfer. Thank you Marc and the entire team at JW Marriott Maldives for exceeding our expectations!

Best choice for honeymoon couples. Absolutely stunning place, amazing views, good snorkelling, beautiful new resort. We met a couple on our last day that went to Maldives 5 times, and told us JW definitely had the best facilities.
Their service was amazing, our butler was very cute and thoughtful, even arranged a special bath and light dessert for my wife and I after dinner in our room.
They time their house keeping well, as if they know when we are out for our meals and use the opportunity to clean up or turn down our rooms, our villas were always clean and neat! We love it!
Shout out to our 5 star extra thoughtful butler Mr Arey! He was very conscientious and remembered all our bookings and reservations and made sure our itinerary ran smoothly.
And his buddy Ahmed who took over his duties as Arey fell ill on of the days during our stay. He was also very good took time to explain culture of Maldives and we appreciate that.
We had a good experience in the restaurants there too. The Italian food - especially the carbonara and the pizza - was very good. We had a really fun server there, can’t remember his name but he was a funny young guy who would joke around and recommend good dishes to us.
Breakfast was a treat as well. Beautiful place overlooking the water, one of the classiest buffet lines we’ve seen, great variety and many choices - from fresh juices to smoothies, a variety of cuisines and cereals.
We didn’t get full or half board, which we regretted because the food was definitely pricey. It’s inevitable I suppose, being stuck on a resort island without a convenience store or any other outlet we could get food.
But I think the servers made up for the prices hahaha
Shoutout to Nassim and Annel who were very attentive during our dining and made it memorable with their recommendation and service.
Aso shoutout to the dive team, it was our first time and Kathy was very calm, friendly and professional. Although I had some trouble equalising, and therefore had to forgo the dive, my wife had an incredible time and managed to see different rays and even a turtle on her first time. They even managed to find her earring backing that she lost on the boat and returned it even though we didn’t ask for it.
And finally the spa was definitely something both my wife and I loved. It was probably one of the best spa experiences we’ve ever had, and she has been to quite a few around the world. This is definitely one of the best if not the best.
The view from our personal massage room was amazing basically having a room on TOP of the ocean while you have your spa.
The staff there are very experienced and very professional, from the front desk to the masseuse. I had a very bad neck and back problem that I couldn’t get rid of for a couple of weeks, the Indonesian lady that was treating me was very experienced and she even explained what was wrong and how to take care of the back and neck etc. And the following day the pain was gone!

The amazing journey started before we have reached where I have had several private requests to the team which were graciously made.
Once we arrived we were greeted like royalty through a traditional maldivian welcome act and we were introduced to our amazing Takuru: Hayu whom throughout the stay became a very close shadower whom fullfils any and all of our requests. We were pleasantly surprised that in our stay, we were able to forget that we are in covid19 times thanks to the ability to socially distance with ease at the property.
We then were taken to our sunset villa where we were amazed by how well designed the room was including the light pastel colors and the availability of all needed items in the room. The bed as it turns out was heavenly and the team made sure that pillows are in line with my preference as feather. The hotel also managed the room cleaning and the turn down service in a friction free way while being outside the room.
As for the food and beverage, all restaurants and food were top notch, I remember to this day how good the pizza was in the pool side restaurant and how the catch of the day (sweet lips fish) at Shio restaurant tasted.
We also did a photoshoot with the talented photographer Sharuf where we got amazing photos to keep our times there in our memories.
Saima also made a very heavenly massage for my wife which she still reminisce.
Our final eve was a birthday dinner by the beach fully orchestrated and flawlessly executed by Hayu where we saw a Maldivian act and ate Maldivian cuisine with lots of rich tastes and amazing cooking.
We really enjoyed the beaches, the water, and the vibe which was very peaceful yet beautiful thanks to the amazing place but also the amazing team managing the property.
Thank you JW Marriott Maldives for an amazing break and top notch service.

A much needed family break after our previous few plans to Maldives kept getting cancelled due to COVID restrictions and unplanned exigencies at work place.
Thanks to my better half who manages all our travel planning, we were able to get a jackpot deal at JW Marriott.
Was a 1 week trip to Vagaru island JW Marriott. Flight from Mumbai to Male' was peaceful and we were received by their staff at airport and then taken to the lounge with food and drinks for waiting for the seaplane. In an hour, we were in the seaplane. People were very friendly and helpful and Must say that the style quotient of Maldivians is also high.
We were received by the full staff of JW Maldives at the Vagaru island. The resort manager(Mohit), their head chef (Bir Yadav ), our Thakuru (Ruslan) many other staff welcomed us at entry. The whole thing was extremely personalized which is very impressive and extra care was taken to know more about our needs and expectations.
Our butler Ruslan took us around the property and guided us to our room. We stayed 4 nights in over water villa and 3 nights in beach villa. Me being more a beach person, the whole experience was superbly surreal.
The place seemed right out of a painting. Water was super clear and sunny days made the whole experience right out of a travel magazine.
Our son spent a lot of time at the kids club which was very friendly and staff took very good care of all the kids.
House keeping staff also timed the cleaning to perfection ensuring that the room was cleaned when we were not at the room. There was no need to remind anyone about the cleaning.
We spent a lot of time doing water activities like snorkelling and pedal boats, lot of activites to do.
The restaurant had extremely friendly staff thank you Sokhirai, Bir (head chef) and others for the personalized service.
The bar at the beach was also a very well located and had a nice Jamaican vibe.
Rooms at JW are one of the largest in Maldives and warm hospitality of the staff and an awesome kids club at the property were highlights of our trip. There was also a musical performance everynight at the main restaurant. JW is a small property and beach is a little rocky but these issues were not really relevant for us.
Overall one of the best vacations we have ever had.

We travelled to Maldives amidst a time when travel is not as easy how it previously was. Things have changed quite a bit but JW Staff did not once make us feel that we were there during a pandemic by ensuring highest level of hygiene and safety.
Maldives was always on the bucket list for its breathtaking views seen in pictures and it’s even better in reality. It was one of the most relaxed vacations we took after a long time. The tranquility brings the mind to peace.
Our holiday was made so much better by the service provided to us by all the staff members. It’s not at all easy to smile all day and treat your guests with the best service when you’re staying so far away from home during an ongoing pandemic.
Some worthy mentions:
1. Fubu: He was our Thakuru for the stay and was extremely helpful and one call away for all our needs from booking our water sports, lunches/dinners etc.
2. Chef Pawan: Our family being vegetarian, he ensured each and every meal we had were made according to our choices. The dinner, him and his team arranged at Hashi was an highlight of the trip. Kudos for the special arrangements for breakfast.
3. Husniya, Nazim: truly appreciate the quick and warm service provided during most of our meals.
Annelia, Gigi, Dhananjay and Ankit: very courteous staff served at the speciality restaurants.
4. Mr. Mohit, Mr. Amit: They made sure to check on us whenever they saw us and always inquired if we needed anything.
5. Vivien: She made my Scuba dive an enthralling experience. Very knowledgeable and understanding instructor.
6. Mr Vishnu: enjoyed the wellness classes with him, kept us energised.
You visit JW first time for the views and the times after that for its service and views.

The unforgettable experience began when they picked me up at the airport in their Mercedes SUV and took me to the private lounge to await the seaplane ride to the property. Then I was greeted by my thakuru on the boat to the arrival dock, where I was ushered through the welcoming committee of staff, all clapping as I walked onto the island. Such a fun and memorable way to begin my vacation!
The property itself was simply breathtaking, with amazing views and sites everywhere you looked. The overwater villa enveloped me in relaxation and I took full advantage of lounging next to my plunge pool.
The restaurants were simply wonderful! Every meal was a treat! Be prepared to spend a premium on food, but if you’ve come this far, hopefully the pricing won’t come as too much of a surprise. The restaurant staff were all so lovely and accommodating. I think they may have paid special attention to me as I was there alone in a place built for couples 😊. I have an intolerance for onions and after mentioning that at my first meal, they had it noted throughout the property, so I didn’t even need to mention it again.
The general manager arranged a spa visit for me, which is an experience not to be missed! Thank you, Mohit, for encouraging me to partake of this wonderful and relaxing service!
The one negative is the lighting in the bathrooms is very low, so putting on makeup was a bit of a challenge. However, you’ll probably be there with someone who loves you and knows what you look without makeup at all, so hopefully this won’t be too much of an issue. Also, with the humidity, whatever you manage to do won’t last long anyway!
The gift shop was not yet open when I visited, so the staff went so far above and beyond to get me not only sunscreen, but also several magnets from Maldives! I collect magnets from each place I travel and was so disappointed that I wasn’t able to buy one there, so Mohit presented me with a bag of 5 of them the day after I mentioned this! Also, after I didn’t reapply the sunscreen as often as I should have and got a little burned, I was presented with camomile lotion the next day. Who knew you can use camomile lotion for sunburn?!?
On my last morning, I was presented with pancakes shaped like cute littles bears saying “We’ll miss you”. And I miss you all, too!!! I truly hope to return to this amazing property again soon!
We stayed in the Overwater Pool Villa for 5 days for our honeymoon and it was magical from the start. We arrived to cold refreshments and welcoming staff. It's paradise... an ultimate relaxation and service destination! Our Thakuru, Fubu, was the best - he made everyday perfect and drove us around in his Ferrari golfcart.
Everything is taken care of for you and it's so so so beautiful - this is the most colorful sea creatures I've ever seen and just outside your villa. The room was huge and clean and we loved having the outdoor pool to dip into after snorkeling after a big buffet breakfast (tons of selection and really fresh & tasty). We did scuba diving, watched a movie on the beach with grape hookah, went sunset boat fishing in the ocean and caught a red snapper and gurber for lunch the next day, did yoga by the water, had Maldivian dinner on the beach, swam in the numerous pools, created our own whiskey drinks, took a day/night photoshoot and truly enjoyed the island life. We can't wait to go back!

Wonderful people. Wonderful place. The staff at this resort was exceptional. They were very attentive, but also genuinely caring and fun. Our butler Ahmed took great care of anything and everything we needed. The manager Mohit gave us special attention and it was great to get to know him.
Our overwater villa was immaculate; the view was unbelievable; and the extra touches like daily sweets, personal notes, wine, and welcome decorations were very thoughtful. The resort itself is excellent -- the restaurants had a great variety of cuisines and the dishes were phenomenal. Our only request would be to have the Thai restaurant in the treehouse open for dinner rather than closing at 4pm. That was our favorite place!
There are plenty of activities and excursions for those who need them. We took the catamaran out, which was very relaxing, and my boyfriend went kiteboarding at a nearby island. But mostly it was so nice to just relax by the pool, do some swimming and snorkeling, and unplug from the world.
The island itself is pristine. White sandy beaches, turquoise water, beautiful trees. We didn't even experience any bugs. There were fruit bats on the island...kind of a surprise to us but really cool to see up in the trees.
The only difficulty we had was in getting there. Once we flew into Male it was not a quick seaplane transfer to the resort. We had to wait 3 hours at the airport before getting on our seaplane and then there we 2 stops before us, so it was another hour in transit. But the seaplane ride does have amazing views of the islands below.
Overall it was probably the best vacation we've ever had.

We recently returned from a six day visit to the JW Marriott Maldives and had an incredible experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to come to the Maldives.
The staff is so friendly, kind, and accommodating. They really care about you and do everything they can to make sure you have an amazing stay. My husband cut his foot on some coral and they sent us a fruit platter to our room that night and literally wrote him a card wishing him to "get well soon."
Fubu was our personal butler and he was amazing - if I came back to the hotel I would hope he would be our butler again. He went out of his way to make my birthday very special. Dubby was our butler for one day when Fubu was on his day off, and he was awesome too. We loved the waitress Husniya and the waiters at the Fiamma pool restaurant. The entire staff made me feel so celebrated on my birthday - they went out of their way throughout the entire day.
The breakfast buffet was the best breakfast buffet I've ever had! I already miss it. The fresh kiwi and mango (and all of the fruit in general) was unbelievable!
When snorkeling from the resort, we saw octopus, sharks, rays, turtles, starfish, and every type of fish you can imagine. The best snorkeling we found by far was on the sunrise overwater villa side of the island, past the row of rocks. It was incredible!!
My only complaint with our stay was that we had selected a dolphin quest excursion through the resort, and that day it was very windy. They told us that it would be cancelled if it was too windy, but it did not get cancelled. However, the boat ride was awful - extremely windy and bumpy. There were children throwing up on the boat because it was so rough. I expressed this concern to the hotel but they did not do anything to make it right. This was my only point of dissatisfaction on the trip and I would have been happier if they would have refunded or credited us for the amount we spent on this, as it was an extremely unpleasant experience.
Overall, thank you to the JW Marriott Maldives for the most amazing 30th birthday trip! This is the first time I've ever been homesick for a resort after leaving haha.

We chose JW Marriot Maldives for our honeymoon trip and the resort is excellent, offering us a sweet and memorable experience. Let me share more about the resort in the following aspects.
Villa: We have chosen the sunrise oversea villa. Unfortunately we didnt see the sunrise there as the sky was quite cloudy in the morning during our stay. The villa is very neat and tidy. The normal housekeeping service is twice a day. We went snorkeling from our villa and found many fish nearby, e.g. blue parrot fish, butterflyfish, moorish idol, blue surgeonfish.
Resort Environment and facility: The resort is very beautiful, tidy and comfortable. You will always find many nice angles to take a lot of nice pictures everywhere in the resort. Most importantly, not many guests were around the resort, giving us a lot of private space even in some outdoor facilities, like the Infinity pool, the beach. Every corner in the resort have their staff to take care of, e.g. even the sand on the beach, the ladder to the sea for those oversea villa. We encountered a stormy day in the resort and the sand road was flooding severely. Once the rain stopped, the staff were very busy in tidying up the road and clearing the flood.
There are also some daily excursions offered by the watersports center, which are to be charged separately from the package. Some interesting activities are dolphin quest, sunset fishing.
Ocean species: The house reef is quite well managed and we can easily find school of fish (those common species in Maldives) around the resort. We have seen the baby shark catching the small fish near the beach!
Food: We have chosen the all-inclusive package, which covers 3 courses and some common beverages. The food quality is very good and the amount is always more than expected. Better check with the staff if you dont wanna waste too much food. The resort offers a wide range of food, e.g. Japanese, Thai, Western, Indian and also some Chinese dim sum and noodle. Their dessert is very delicious too! We had a festive buffet dinner for one night and there was a live band performance as Christmas was approaching.
Transport: We went to the resort by seaplane, which took around 50 mins for a non-stop flight. The seaplane cost has been included in the package price.
Staff: Staff are very friendly in the resort. They will first offer you a very warm welcome once you arrive the resort. They provide great customer service in every detail. Last but not least, special thanks to our butler, Risal. He is very professional, helpful and responsible. Whenever we had any requests or questions during our stay, we can easily reach out to him via whatsapp and he is very responsive. He checked for our needs from time to time, and appeared around us at the right moment, and often offered us timely delivery service from/ to our villa.
Thanks again for giving us a wonderful experience for our honeymoon trip.
