My group of friends really enjoyed dining at Southern Sun. It was closest to our over the water villas. We loved sitting in Alam’s section. He took excellent care of us for breakfast and dinner for our entire stay. The Italian restaurant and Zero were also very good. I highly recommend Sun Island Resort & Spa. It’s a wonderful vacation that will not break the bank.

Superb holiday. 1st time in Maldives. Lots to do in the island. Stayed 15 nights and still missed things to do across the island. This is clearly one of the larger islands in Maldives and does give you variety. We stayed at the water bungalows. I would recommend as experience was lovely. The bungalows are not quite 5 star from a style prospective and need a touch up but location was WOW. Accommodation wise the south side of the island is quieter and like a lagoon and generally less wind so if you aren’t staying in Water bungalows I would try and make sure you are in the sunset rooms, as it seems more tranquil. If you prefer more waves and wind use orher side of the island. Diego was our house cleaner and he was such a nice guy. We had to eat in the bungalow restaurant which is smaller and a nice touch. All the staff are great here and do offer a personal touch. The head sous chef Yrevor was excellent, manager Zakir was wonderful and a very good manager. staff on front desk always happy. Call out in addition was Alam. Food is very good and lots of options. There aren’t many snack options in the coffee bar under all inclusive. I wouldn’t call this a fully inclusive experience like other resorts and you have to pay for items like burgers, pizzas etc, so if you after all that as part of all inclusive this isn’t for you, but the food is really centered around breakfast, lunch and dinner in the buffet restaurant We also used the new Japanese (no sushi) offering which is only 5/7seats. Great value compared to other offering and breaks up the buffet. Turso as the chef was brilliant and entertaining and well supported by Lakmal as waiter who is a good character and fun. Thai was closed but Italian open which is on the other side and great food. Views of the sharks floating around the restaurant is an great dining experience as well. Entertainment- Overall very good and the team are very good. They entertain but for 2 weeks it is a little repetitive but still OK. They have also have a piano bar which seemed lovely but no piano player which was a shame as it would be nice to have another area with music which is different. There is a singer and musician (from Philippines)who helped with others make things a little special to celebrate our 50th and wedding anniversary. They are a pleasure to listen to and will do pretty much most requests. Very impressive. Steam/Jacuzzi/Sauna. There is a private area you can book for free which Fauves you 1 hour. I would also recommend as great way to finish the day but you need to book 24 hours in advance. Nice touch. Only small thing is that they could offer water in the area for the hour as we ask to get a drink from the bar and they refused. Great shame as Really you need hydrating it a simple thing that could be changed. Wildlife- Surprisingly for us lots to see including flying Bats at the mains area. peacocks, ducks etc, if you walk to middle of the island. Sealife- house reef is very good we have snorkelled with sharks, turtles. Puffer fish and loads of others which has been incredible. Diving centre. The whole team are great, we had Hussain as our diving instructor and after 5 dives we don’t want it to end. Yes it’s expensive but as currently Manta season it is well worth doing and we will never forget the manta point dives. There are groups here that are very lucky that are able to afford to keep coming back regularly and I can see why but if you can I would recommend this place at least once and I hope one day we can come back. The people, size of island, food make this place what it is.
