great place for a getaway. rooms are nice and clean. public areas are superb in the hotel. great gardens so a super place to relax. service is polite and friendly. and the prices are very reasonable. dinner was OK and the breakfast is what you would expect in such a hotel.
The hotel is a beautiful building from the eighteenth century, in a beautiful setting, and the park and gardens are full of autoctonous plants, trees and bushes that can be seen from every window. The hotel is spacious, and kept wonderfully warm on cold winter days by means of open fireplaces (hearths) and central heating. It has a nice heated indoor swimming pool in a separate builing. This is the positive aspect. However, when we arrived, the person who had made our booking had left, and it took the clerk at the reception desk 40 minutes to find out which our rooms were. The wooden floor of our rooms had not seen a broom for several days, and the bathroom's fittings leaked just a little. During dinner at the hotel, the cook had to leave unexpectedly, and the people left in charge in the kitchen were few and it seems they had absolutely no idea of how to run the kitchen or the waiter service in absence of the cook. The food was quite bad also. Probably the restaurant is not always this disorganized, anyway on this occasion it was perfectly excusable since the head of the kitchen left because of a health problem. We recommend the hotel, since it is cheap for the facilities it offers, the beautiful place and views and its warm countrystyle indoor furnishing and decoration. The hotel should however focus on organizing the service a bit better.…
I have stayed there in March this year with my husband and our little daughter .It is a wonderful property originally built in 1910 ( English style) and restored .Very spacios rooms, all of them overlooking the park. Great Lobby, as well as the Living room, and the breakfast/tea room all overlooking front or rear parks.Personal staff was very kind and very helpful with us (our daughter was 9 month old by that time and we had to ask them frequently to warm milk or keep some food in the fridge)). Breakfast ok and a good price/quality relation concerning restaurant .La cumbre is a charming city to visit, and this hotel is particular has everything to make you feel at home. The only thing that needs improvement are the bathrooms, which are clean and restored but keep the old layout. …
