Walters Cove Resort is a luxurious fishing lodge, owned by the Kyuquot Checklesaht First Nations. Located on the NW side of Vancouver Island in Kyuquot Sound, we provide a first class, fully guided, all-inclusive fishing experience for salmon, halibut and bottom fish. Grady White boats, and both Abel and Avet reels are an example of the top of the line equipment we provide. Our small, intimate lodge holds a maximum capacity of only 18 guests which allows us to provide exceptional customer service and cultural experiences such as our signature Beach BBQ. Not to mention the most consistent fishing on the West Coast! Our specialty is creating memories that will last you a lifetime!
Very helpful and competent staff, very welcoming and accommodating. There's nothing left to wish for. Boats perfect for fishing and very well equipped, guides awesome. Had fished our limit halfway through the third day. Outstanding kitchen plus endless supply of lovely snacks and beverages throughout the day. Would highly recommend the place.

Walter’s Cove Resort is a wonderful way to experience some of the best fishing on the West Coast of Canada. The service and facilities are all top notch. Staff are very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and plentiful, Fishing was excellent with a selection of veteran guides and good quality boats and fishing gear. All very well done. I visited Walters Cove Resort for this first time this summer (of 2023), and I write this review from a perspective of someone who has ocean fished for salmon in British Columbia every year for the past 24. I can confidently say that Waters Cove has a lot to offer people who range from hard core experienced fishers to complete novices. The Resort is fully guided and my experience with two local First Nations guides was a good one. They know the area and easily accommodate to whether guests want to be very hands on (like us) or want the guides to do everything short of reeling in the fish. The boats themselves are stable and spacious. And FYI for less experienced people or those who don't like big seas there are lots of productive protected waters minutes away from the lodge. On a nominal five day/four night trip you'll get in a full 40 hours of fishing, if that's your desire. Fishing itself of course varies a lot day by day. During our particular trip we had little difficulty getting our Chinook limit, and with a little work, our Coho limit. Bottom fish here are a bit smaller than where we normally fish in Haida Gwaii and less numerous, but they are out there and guests have good prospects for limiting out here also. Do note that the Resort has a fish cutting license, which allows them to cut fish portions to your size specifications before they are vacuum packed and frozen. Note also that they really do have a fine flash freezer that makes for a difference you can easily see in the defrosted fish. For nature lovers this is a very scenic area where the land meets the sea. Rooms at the lodge are spacious and well appointed, each with an ensuite bathroom. Dinner meals offer a choice of appetizers and mains and are to a good standard. Breakfasts are ample and offer a lot of options. We flew in from Richmond/Vancouver which was really convenient--pretty much door to door service for Vancouver-based people like us. Give it a try!…

My spouse and I just returned from our second 5-day trip to Walters Cove Resort. This was the first-time at the new floating resort and we loved it. Terry the General Manager is a professional and runs an efficient operation from the guides, food service, deckhands, housekeeping and other staff. A nice welcome on our first evening and we were out fishing shortly. It was a pleasure to have the same guide all week and know that we were going to catch fish with some instructional help with keeping us safe with a smooth boat ride on the 24' Grady White cabin cruiser (and nice to have a head). The fishing was very good the last day of July and first few days of August. We got our limit of four Spring salmon per person ranging from 12 to 20 pounds, limit of four coho salmon per person in the 5–9-pound range. Caught four lingcod total and could have limited with two more but happy with our catch. On the final day, my spouse and I caught three halibut for a limit with the largest one at 25 pounds. Plentiful rockfish in the area if that is a target fish species for individuals. Fish were vacuum sealed to your request and very well packaged. We had a small but clean room with two twin beds. toilet, shower, sink and ample closet space with a small balcony that overlooked the dock area and water. It met our needs and was very quiet so you could sleep at night without interruption. Breakfast was very good with a full buffet. Lunch was available at the dining room or takeout if you wanted to stay out and fish. A wide selection of sandwiches, soup daily, cookies and other dessert options plus just ask the cook if you have a special request...very accommodating for a special order. Dinner was very good with at least two entree options nightly. Portions are big and for any meal; you won't leave hungry. The common areas are spacious and provide lots of space outside your room to mingle or find a place to relax. The bar is "huge" and has a pool and card tables to use if that's your thing. A nice place to hang out after a day on the water. Enjoyed the pre-dinner tribal gathering to learn more about the Kyuquot First Nation to include personal stories and song from one of the members with the added bonus of sampling traditional cooked cedar salmon on the fire accompanied with a piece bread made from an elder's recipe...delicious. It is a short walk on a trail behind the lodge. Just a short float plane ride of about 75 minutes from the SeaAir Terminal so it doesn't take long to leave Vancouver for the resort. We plan a return trip and highly recommend it.…

A perfect west coast experience! Fishing was fantastic- we filled our fishing dance card completely and had calm seas and good weather as a bonus. Fished with Sparkles - top guide who really knows the water and was fun to spend time with. Lodge and dock staff top notch. The salmon BBQ with stories by Daisy and a song by Jared was a way to experience some of the local culture. We keep going back to Walters (our 5th trip) because they do it right.

Our trip to Walter's Cove checked off the last item on my bucket list and was by far my favorite fishing experience in 51 years of mostly salt water fishing. Terry, the general manager, brought all the aspects of the experience together, the staff quietly insured that fabulous food was always available (dinners are spectacular), the lodge is pleasingly unique, clean and comfortable. The fishing boats are top notch Grady Whites, our guide was excellent in all aspects including rigging and the right places to fish. We limited half a day early for Halibut, Ling cod and salmon. I can honestly say that everyone there made us feel welcomed and appreciated; what a great First Nations experience all around.

Our group has dealt with Terry Schultz for many trips that I can recall. It would have been at least ten years with Terry before CoVid suspended most travel. Our trip organizer and president of the Time Out for Fishing Society, Basil, kept in touch with Terry throughout the international travel suspension. With all the travel rule changes, our group was finally able to reunite for five days of excellent fishing and camaraderie. We were not disappointed since the lodge was nearly identical to those Terry had managed for our previous trips. One difference, the boats were upgraded. Each was well outfitted with experienced local guides. The inside staff was also excellent with friendly faces and attentive service. As our club president states, “Nobody goes hungry, but in addition, our meals were excellent with a lot of variety.” My fish arrived home in good shape after over 24 hours of travel, but also aided by the freezer at the YVR Fairmont. I would recommend the YVR Fairmont if traveling by air from the US. No shuttles to arrange for and US travel gates just a very short walk from the hotel elevator. Last, but not least, Terry ordered us the best weather in years. Weather on most of our other fishing trips were done in rain, drizzle, or fog. Just kidding about Terry controlling the weather since the weather would not have diminished our fishing experience.…
