Tucked away in the heart of Orkanger is this beautiful hotel setup in its traditional viking ambience with a touch of modern amenities. Very calm and quiet place perfect for a getaway from the city. The service is top notch and so are the rooms on offer.

This is an historic hotel, but most of it is new and you will most likely end up in the new part. The new part is OK, modern, and the rooms are as you would expect in an ordinary business hotel. It still has a historic touch in the reception and central areas. Is is usually possible to get a...

Stayed here for five weeks on business trip back in June/July 2015. The only reasonable hotel in town. Can't complain much, room was alright and the service was okay. My highlight was the salmon steak.

Insanely expensive by our (USA) standards, but for Norway it is good value. Very clean and quiet, delicious and plentiful breakfast with two types of salmon, smoked sardines, three varieties of herring, wonderful bread. Staff are nice, helpful and unobtrusive. Here is a bit of renovation going on right now, but that did not affect us in any way. The...

After two independent visits in a small group I feel I can truly recommend this lovely hotel. The historical buildings have been carefully restored, which means rooms and public spaces are both beautiful and up-to-date. The restaurant provided excellent food, the staff was ever pleasant, and conference facilities were fully satisfactory. Add to this an extremely interesting tour of the...

Stayed in a cabin and parked the car directly outside. Beds were a bit soft. The room was reasonably comfortable with a lounge area and a desk. The Windows opened and we were able to keep the room aired. The bathroom was a disappointment with a drippy tap in the sink. The AMFI shopping centre is right next door and...

We found the charming Bårdshaug Herregård when we realized busy Trondheim was almost fully booked and exorbitantly expensive ($200+ for a hostel, mid-range hotels at $800 per night). Orkanger is just about half an hour south-west of Trondheim and that is where you will find this charming Victorian Mansion called Bårdshaug Herregård. Few foreigners know of this hidden gem, where...

The hotel offers a historic atmosphere. The Place is known for salmon fishing and the kitchen offers a wide range of food from fresh local ingredients. Today's Bårdshaug consists of the manor, several charming buildings from the 1890s and modern hotel building from 1980. After a long day you can relax in one of the lounges in the hotel lobby,...

we stayed in the Kings room which is a real step back in time type of experience, this was an amazing sleep, you may not like the place when you see no TV and no phone but there is a phone at the bottom of the stairs and the place it's self lets you look around all the rooms with...
