Located near the kurunegala lake.Has a beautiful scenery. Has plenty of space for parking. Has photographs of ancient Sri Lanka. Food is good. I've visited this place twice and I ate seafood rice in both the times. That rice was perfect. So, I recommend this place as a great hotel for seafood lovers. Overall, it's a great place to visit.
While visiting friends and family in Kurunegala we needed a place to stay for two nights. Its an old style bungalow which we enjoyed the convenience of, as it was walking distance into Kurunegala town for shopping and visiting our friends and family. The meals were excellant and portions were large. We were attended by one of the wait staff, Tharaka who was excellant and most helpful. He would be an ideal Manager one day. We felt the room was lacking a good clean as we found cobwebs in the bathroom. The bathroom was lacking a floor mat.
I stayed here while traveling with my family to Anuradapura. Very nice and calm place. Just close to Kurunegala lake. Staff was so friendly and helpful. My booking cost was 5000 sri lankan rupee. Clean rooms. Parking space available infront of hotel. From outside this hotel looks as a home. Inside very nice and rooms were with good enough space. Foods are available in this hotel. Even liquor place also available. But food service was very slow. And foods price also high compared to restaurants in Kurunegala city. Washroom facilities were good and clean. Rooms were clean. Just about 7km from Kurunegala city. Use google maps to find the hotel. Overall good place to stay. Staff was so friendly and helpful.
the owner was very friendly and helpful. I was the only guest so I felt a little lonely in that big hotel with laaarge diningroom. It is more for local festivities and not for tourists. The room is from average quality but everything is there. Even a (not functioning) tv. AC is working very good. Bed is okay. There is one window in the room but there are iron bars to protect and plastified windows, so.....no view.Bathroom is another story: very clean upto a persons level, but above the fungus is growing widely around the walls and ceiling because of the humidity. The electric wire that connects the shower with the warm water system had a lose end, so that I did not had the courage to take that shower. Soap was there, towel was great: large and new. Everything in the bedroom was clean. The cleaning lady was TOP! The outside room door could not be locked properly. There is a key, but not functional. The inside can be locked properly with a handle. The food was excellent: I had half board for 2 days. But the breakfast 2nd day: the boss was not there so they decided to provide me French fries and some sandwiches but no tea...nothing...??!! You can freely sit on the verandah which provides stunning views over the lake and the large white Buddha on top of the rock. It was a quiet stay; more suitable for an one night transfer, I suppose. It gives good value for money, especially the spaciousness of the room and the dinner are contributing to that.…
We arrived as the sun set to find we were the only guests. Normally this isn't a good sign. It was too late to head out for dinner so we ordered and ate in the empty dinning room. The food was delicious and good size servings. Ashoka, the manager explained the ingredients and the cooking process which was very informative. He asked if there was anything special we would like for breakfast which was nice. The hotel is a converted 150 year old mansion. It is old but everything worked and it was comfortable for an overnighter. The lake is just across the road and the location is reasonably quiet.
