As locals to Mickleton my wife and I have visited Three Ways House many times for Sunday lunches, evening meals and Pudding Clubs. It has been sad to see it closed these past few months but we were so pleased that we could visit for an evening meal and support their re-opening after lockdown restrictions were lifted. We had a meal in the restaurant where I ordered Steak & Kidney Pudding (SKP) and my wife had Chicken, Ham and Leak Pie (CHLP). Unfortunately we were not served our meal until 50 minutes after being seated in the restaurant. As they had just re-opened and finding their feet in making service covid-secure we were prepared to give the team some slack but the wait time was far too long. And we were not alone in this respect as there were another 8 couples (and one trio) who also seemed to be waiting a long time either to have their order taken or be served their meal. Behind the scenes we suspect they had a limited number of staff preparing meals after re-opening and were caught off guard and so service should improve over the coming weeks (as it usually is when we go). As for our meal I was disappointed with the SKP as it wasn't a pudding at all, it was a pie and very small it was too! The Steak & Kidney Puddings we have had in the past were in the tradional shape of a pudding bowl and made of suet. To see it come in pie form made my heart sink! Also in the past the SKP has been so big we have generally shared it. My wife's CHLP was much larger but the pie crust was quite thick. Both our pies came with mash potato and shredded cabbage which again was a little disappointing as we would have expected more variey of vegetables like carrots, peas and perhaps new potatoes. Even in the hotel's Randalls Bar we have had a better and larger selection of vegetables and we would have expected the same in the main restaurant. We didn't think these two meals represented value for money when compared with those we have had previously. Onto the main event (haha) we shared a trio of puddings. We had a large bowl with portions of Sticky Toffee & Date, Syrup Sponge and Very Chocolate. We also had a jug of Birds custard that we lashed (haha) over our puds. If there is one thing Three Ways know how to do well and that is deliver great puddings! So overall a little disappointing with speed of service and some aspects of the main meal. The two ladies serving us were very good and made us feel as comfortable as you can be given we all were following safety guidelines brought on by corona virus. The lady on reception that evening we also very good and apologised for the service when she asked us about our meal. We will be back (of course we will) as we need our occasional pudding fix (haha). We hope this review will be seen as constructive and trust that the senior management and Best Western support the chefs in returning to full steam.…
Enjoyed a pudding club evening , good light hearted evening. The evening started with lovely lady , Lucy, explaining how the evening will work, which she did with humour and flamboyant character. The appetizer of chicken was very tasty. Then 7 puddings are then served. Every one had their likes and dislikes. The room was lovely, clean. Overall very good.
This was my Husbands Birthday Present, we arrived on the 3/03/2020 - 6/03/2020. The staff throughout our stay were friendly and fantastic, the breakfast's were wonderful with a great selection, as was the evening meal. The room spotless cannot fault a thing had a wonderful stay here, there was a slight hitch with hot water which was quickly resolved and had not put a damper on our stay we would certainly recommend and like to thank all the staff who work so hard to make this a great hotel.
Lovely stay, great room, clean, staff friendly. Breakfast great selection, evening meal, didn't have a starter main meal OK but couldn't understand why you had to pay for vegetables to go with the meal. Dessert was lovely. Our choice steam pudding loads of custard and profiteroles. Overall a lovely time. Would recommend it
Went for Pudding club on Friday night (6th March), with staying over until Sunday. Staff great and very welcoming, can't fault any of them. Pudding Club good night Lucy who ran the night and works at the hotel was great, puddings very good, but not excellent if that is what you are looking for or expecting. Room ten comfy, bed very good with all the amenities you would expect, room a little damp for some reason but couldn’t put my finger on it and could do with sounding proofing between the floors from room above. I would have mentioned it but was in a hurry to get back home. Same with some interesting electrics I noticed walking along the corridor to my room – fuse spur for wall heaters fed by plug top plugged into a socket nearby so the plug lead goes into the fuse spur to supply the fuse spur then goes back out to feed the heater – I know what they are trying to do – feed a fuse spur of a socket to then supply individual heaters without running cables in the walls or trunking, tells you the heaters where an afterthought – come on do it neatly. Breakfast is buffet style and food was great on both mornings, you can order kippers which made a nice change. Dinner on Saturday night was very nice. All though I thought the portion of halibut I had was a tad on the stingy side even though it was excellently cooked. Whereas the lamb three ways my other half had was generous, the dauphinoise potatoes that came with hers was good but not great. Shame weren't asked if we wanted extra veg on the side. Pudding Club definitely recommend. Dinner service – Staff great but some small attention to detail improvements needed. Menu choice needs expanding, dish of veg which weren’t offered or told about should have been mentioned – saw it on others tables after it was too late Don’t go in Cheltenham week or the weekend leading up to it or after - car park can’t cope and the race goes who stay, some of them don’t know how to park – not the hotel’s fault but be aware. Would I stay here again - yes the small improvements needed wouldn’t put me off.…
