The beds were clean, warm and very comfy - nearly all you need for a couple of nights stay. But you got Joy and Don who were a delight and warmly welcomed you to their home. There was always plenty to eat at breakfast and different every day. Ok its not the Ritz or the Hilton - but enjoy the...

We enjoyed our stay at The Cottage It was a unique experience which we accepted as part and parcel of staying in a 'homestay'. It's someones house, a home which you are being invited to share...not forced. We found the place quirky, interesting, not to our taste but welcoming, warm and Joy was extremely helpful and definitely hurt by comments...

We enjoyed our time with Joy and Don. They were friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet, the bed sooo comfortable and it was lovely looking through the glass panel in the roof to the stars and out of the french doors to the garden beyond. Yes, the decor is quirky and not to everyone's taste but we enjoyed ourselved...

Prior to arriving at Manapouri, we had stayed in some wonderful motels, apartments and hotels. The Cottage was a complete culture shock for us and had it not been for the fact that the friends we were travelling with had booked the place, my wife and I would have walked out on arrival!! As it was we endured a stay...

We are sorry that this couple had not viewed our web site or read our reply e-mail that we sent to their friends and did not realise they were staying in our modest home. "The Cottage" Homestay B&B A place that you either Love or Hate. Our cash discount tariff, includes a continental breakfast ( porridge & a soft boiled...

Having seen the web site and its desciption, we arrived and found it was not what we expected. We walked in, saw the room, was told not to open windows, that we could not go into the garden (only with a scythe to cut down the undergrowth), saw the ensuite(a grorified cupboard), and walked out. Paid a cash penalty for...

Our unque old-fashioned home is a B&B you either love or hate. We realise that we can not please every one ( We would like to be able to) This person is right in us getting most of our bookings off the internet as we ask everyone to view ( and read) our web site to see what we are...

This is a dark and dismal place. The accommodation is of a very poor quality, we were surprised that a reputable guide included it. Our hosts told us that they get all their bookings from the Internet, not surprising since I think anyone just turning up would decline to stay there. And we're sorry to say this but we think...

The pictures on the internet are really misleading. The focus is on the romantic setting which is set by expensive looking (silk) curtains and bedcovers. Once you enter the house it looks and feels like you are stepping back into history / a museum. Great for people with " a vintage taste" ,but not for others who are looking for...

This room was a room that we used at a time the Te Anau basin accommodation was overflowing. Some folk were sleeping in cars.

Right on arrival we were whisked to our room and told what NOT to do and the words did not come with a smile. We felt like being little children again and now had to listen up if we did not want to get into trouble (we are 48 and 63 years old...) Joy, the lady who runs this place...

So sorry that there was clearly a clash of personalities.

Within walking distance of departure point for Doubtful Sound cruise, and 20 mins drive to Te Anau. The style/decor reflects the owners individual tastes. Slightly claustrophobic, with the vegetation outside threanening to overwhelm the cottage.
