Had supper here as was forced to abandon wild camping due to weather. Had fishcakes which I don't think were homemade , bit dry and leathery. Chips were OK Menu was too fussy and extensive so expect food is bought in. However, it was clean but not much atmosphere

Stayed here on circuit of lakes, basic pub meal at really good price. Rooms clean, spacious if a bit tired, fluffy towels, good choice for breakfast including kippers, we found the staff to be really friendly and would definitely return.

We stayed here recently as a couple. The venue was relatively well maintained and clean for the star rating. The decor was however in need to an update and the food quality was sub-par (especially from the restaurant during midday and evening meals). There is little choice for venues in this region, however, and Buttermere itself is highly recommended as... More

Visited today after a lovely walk round Buttermere. With it being a Lake District pub in a lovely location we expected a great meal. Sorry to say it was awful. I had the Aberdeen Angus burger and quite honestly Burger King is better. Frozen chips as well. My wife and daughter had the scampi which they said was ok but... More

No ability to create a Tab to pay for everything in one go. Every time we ordered food and drinks we need to pay separately. Very poor bar service and the food was lukewarm. Not good for groups. Not good for business people or team building groups

We found this pub while staying in the Keswick area and stopped for a drink and some food. There was space in the car park and the pub was comfortably full with plenty of table outside if we had wanted one. It was early evening and the service and the bar and to our table was efficient and prompt. Its... More

Food was of a low standard. Wasn't able to create a tab so had to pay for drinks / food for every round - given how we were a group of 11 this was a pain. Wouldn't even take advance payment or place a card as a deposit. Went to raise concern and suggestion for improved service to barman and... More

We have stayed at the Fish every year for the last 17 years. Perfectly situated for fell walking and climbing. Stunning views. Friendly staff who make you feel at home and part of the family from the moment you arrive. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. Just a short drive into Keswick but you can actually climb and explore sell day... More

We try to have lunch at The Fish at lease half a dozen times a year. The location, in between Buttermere and Crummock Water is beautiful, with views to the hills all around, and there's always a warm welcome from the staff. The food is simple 'pub grub' but well cooked and presented and at very reasonable prices. If you're... More
