I stayed at Hassness House on a 7 day guided walking holiday organised by Ramblers Worldwide Holidays. I had a very clean, well furnished and comfortable single room with plenty of storage space. Hassness is well equipped for walkers with drying facilities and boot racks. After all the exertion of walking the fells Hassess provided the perfect retreat, wonderful food,... More

Stayed for a few days at this Ramblers House. All rooms have a view of Buttermere and the hills beyound. Bowled over by the peaceful location, very good food, comfortable beds. Very well run by people who care, nothing was too much trouble.

I stayed at Hassness on a recent walking holiday and was bowled over by the fantastic service and atmosphere! The food was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. The homemade cakes were partcularly brilliant - especially coming back from a day's walking. Thanks! Stellla

We stayed on a map reading course with the Ramblers. The views from the bedrooms and lounge are stunning and overlook the lake and mountains. Although there are no ensuite rooms, the shower rooms have been refurbished with large walk in showers. Brian, Carol and Ruby work very hard to make guests welcome and the home cooked meals are delicious.

Stayed at Hassness for 3 days, the house is beautiful and my room was great. All rooms have the same beautiful view of a lake and waterfall. The staff were wonderful in that they accommodated my dietary needs - I'm not a meat eater with lactose intolerance. My thanks to Carol, Brian and Ruby. Also big thanks to our guide... More

We stayed at Hassness house which is situated in an outstanding location; overlooks Buttermere lake and in direct view of Haystacks , that is truly beautiful. The house itself is scrupulous clean, cosy and very comfortable with a guest kitchen to make teas and a fridge to store your own wine and food. Not en-suite but many very clean bathrooms... More

Just back from a 3 day mini break with The Ramblers. It helped of course that we enjoyed superb weather but I must really compliment both The Ramblers and the managers, Brian and Carol for how well run the hotel is and friendly with a lovely atmosphere. Gorgeous setting, all rooms have stunning views . Bedrooms are not ensuite but... More

We booked through Ramblers Holidays and stayed here for a week. The rooms vary in size and layout (ours was an L-shaped twin) but all overlook the lake and are nice and kept very clean. The walls are a bit thin, although it's not a rowdy crowd so works out fine. The food was a highlight, being a cooked breakfast... More
