We spent a weekend in Buttermere, one of the most beautiful corners of the Lake District. Nestled on Lake Buttermere's shore is Dalegarth, a large B&B with small, basic rooms. The décor is dated but the rooms are clean. The beds were a bit small for a 6' 5" man like myself but comfortable enough to sleep soundly after a... More

We stayed here one chilly January night. Emma & Becky were very friendly, and there was no problem changing from the twin en-suite room we'd booked to a double once we'd seen the different rooms. However the house is distinctly chilly, though we got our own room very cosy with the electric heater on full. The log fire is lovely... More

We have just had a perfect weekend at Dalegarth celebrating my husbands 60th birthday. I booked the whole place so that 20 family, friends and 3 well behaved Golden Retrievers could get together. Becky and Emma pulled out all the stops to make our weekend a brilliant occasion. A roaring log fire and wonderful buffet super was just the job... More

We have just spend 3 tranquil nights at this delightfully peaceful guest house. James and his team of helpers were all very friendly and welcoming. Not was to much for them, the evening meals were fantastic and more than enough, you defo wont starve here! Our room was comfortable and we loved sitting in front of the log fire and... More

I wanted to go somewhere in the Lake District, out the way of development, just to enjoy the beautiful scenery and chill out with my husband. This place was just what I was after. I can't rate them highly enough for hospitality, we were exceptionally well looked after, with nothing too much trouble. Our room (9) had lovely views of... More

Just had a lovely weekend here, home away from home with lots of character. Recommend the full English breakfast.. It keeps you going all day. Was a cold wet weekend made nice by sipping wine in front of a log fire. Back again next year hopefully

There are some good things about the campsite...in the middle of walking country, close to the lake (but you can't see it from the site), quiet and within walking distance of Buttermere village and it's pubs and cafes (although 20mins along lakeshore or road) ...we were disappointed by the facilities...shower awful...either too cool or went between boiling hot and freezing... Stayed here camping for a work charity event. Really good value for money and great bacon sandwiches in the morning! The facilities are OK, not great but that is reflected in the price. Very close to Lake Buttermere with two pubs a short walk away. I would come here again.
