This hotel lives up to its name, Filoxenia ("love of guests"). They do everything to keep the guests happy under some very difficult Covid-imposed conditions. All the staff are incredibly hard working but always smiley - under their masks ;-) - and very friendly. The hotel itself needs a little bit of TLC, though our room on the top floor was freshly painted and very spacious. The view from the balcony was stunning, overlooking the beautiful tropical garden and the sea. The beach area was lovely, though the beach itself (and the sea) was quite stoney so very difficult to get in and out of the sea. The sea would also get quite rough in the afternoon so we would usually move to the pool. The pool area was also very nice, though the pool was generally taken over by kids splashing around and enjoying themselves.. This is a very family oriented hotel and it was full of Greek families with young children, so if you are a couple looking for some tranquility and R&R, perhaps this might not be the best choice for you. i just wished they had at least one section of the pool cordoned off and reserved for adults only but that was not the case. The food was OK, nothing exceptional but more than adequate for a buffet style service; we loved the salad bar most. Breakfast and dinner times were a tad chaotic and often we had to wait for a table as it was so busy whichever time we booked it for (despite their 'booking system' to which nobody seemed to adhere to). There were also queues for the buffet due to the distancing measures put in place and the fact that there were only 2 people at the buffet station trying to serve everyone. However, having our meals al fresco under the olive trees in such beautiful surroundings more than compensated for it and even the screaming kids at neighbouring tables did not spoil it for us. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily go back. It was really a very good VFM and a lovely holiday.…
We have chosen the family suite, impressed by the photos in the hotel's website, but these few photos have nothing to do with reality. Attached you will find photos of what to expect in case you still chose to travel and stay in a family suite of the hotel. NOTHING IN THE ROOM OR IN THE FACILITY IS SANITIZED AS IT SHOULD BE. On top of that, the customer service was the worst we have experienced as travelers. The staff behaves impolitely and is not aware of their job. "Grecotel Filoxenia Kalamata" is definitely not a hotel worthy of the brand GRECOTEL HOTELS AND RESORTS and represents the opposite of the word "filoxenia" which means hospitality in Greek.
Very well organized for covid 19 protocols , friendly staff and the GM Μr Siokos is everywhere in order to make sure that customer needs are fulfilled ! Amazing location by the sea !Very nice beach and great service !
An excellent location on the beach. Hotel staff was always helpful and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner buffet was similar to any other 4☆ place; failing to stand out. Nothing local, no surprises, positive or negative. Room, we stayed at 233, was clean yet "tired". It would certainly enjoy a renovation.
Seen this place a few times on trips to Kalamata and decided to try it out. Staff were wonderful and attentive from checkin to checkout. Rooms were clean and balcony offered an amazing view of the beach and water. Highly recommend staying here since they offer pretty much everything you need for a great stay with lots of relaxation. Definitely will stay again.
