Just sublime. Thanks to Georgi and Ed for making us feel so welcome. They have created a truly beautiful home and we feel very lucky to have found it, and them! Georgi is indeed an wonderful cook and they are both delightful company. The views are stunning and it's a great base to explore the numerous delights of the Lot vineyards and Cahors. My fingernails were embedded in the doorframe - we so did not want to leave. Definitely a return visit next year.
We spent 4 nights at this lovely B and B. The English owners were delightful and generous with their time and hospitality. The recently refurbished property is tastefully decorated and the accommodation spacious. Breakfast was a delight - sitting on the sun terrace overlooking the countryside. There was a lovely outdoor well maintained pool. We had booked dinner on the first night and shared this with fellow guests and our hosts - excellent food prepared by our hostess, Georgi. All in all it was like staying as a house guest of good friends. The property is some way from Cahors and other small towns so a car is essential.
We are no strangers to chambers d'hôtes in France and this c d'hôtes does it all. A lovely house in a beautiful setting. The house has been beautifully restored and decorated - just have a look at the stone staircase if you go - some rare craftsmanship. We had the pigeonaire, a lovely room and ensuite bathroom. Bathroom was superb and the shower really worked! An apėritif and supper with our hosts with some good interesting local wine - and delightful interesting company. A great breakfast with excellent choice and real tea if you want it. You want want to leave!
.....the second time around. When we were invited back by Ed & Georgi for a drawing course this spring, we leapt at the chance as did the good friends who came too, and Ed's teaching more than fulfilled our expectations. We stayed for 7 days during which Georgi excelled in demonstrating her delicious culinary talents while being our entertaining, generous hostess. It was hot for the first three days and the pool refreshed us, along with orchid walks and exploring local villages and the cave paintings at Pech Merle. A wonderful holiday in a gorgeous location.
Ed and Georgi have created the ideal setting for a relaxing stay. If you ever need a break from the demands of everyday life then La Borde Neuve is the ideal option. The house is spacious and stylish, the bedrooms are fresh and inviting, the views are stunning, the food is excellent (Georgi is a talented chef) and their company is entertaining and informative. The local area has lots to offer - picture-postcard hilltop villages, lively food markets, restaurants... I hope to return!
