Sat within quiet surroundings in the small village of Pernera, smartline Protaras makes for a good base in eastern Cyprus. The centre of Pernera is steps away, while the main centre of Protaras is within walking distance, where you'll find a variety of shops for souvenirs, as well as plenty of bars and restaurants for evenings out in the resort. There's a pool area where you can relax and sunbathe, or take a refreshing dip to cool off. You can also order drinks at the pool bar, to enjoy in the sun. If you'd rather spend the day at the beach, it's just a short walk to Marlita. You can also enjoy a session in the hotel's gym or play a friendly game of tennis on the hotel's court. There's also a pool table. For meals, the hotel has its own buffet restaurant, which offers international cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As well as the pool bar, there is an indoor bar for alcoholic and soft drinks. Each of the rooms are decorated in a contemporary style, and all come with Wi-Fi and air conditioning as standard, as well as having a balcony, and a safe for your possessions. If you'd like to explore more of the island, smartline Protaras is within a short drive of the Cape Greco National Park, which offers plenty of popular sights and photo opportunities.

Nestled in Protaras, Papouis Protaras Hotel is lauded for its friendly service, though occasional disorganization at reception has been noted. The hotel's cleanliness and modern, luxurious atmosphere draw commendation from guests, even with some concerns about nearby construction. We arrived at this hotel as a party of 8 on the 28th august and stayed for 7nights. We pretty much had the hotel to ourselves for the majority of the week due to COVID but the staff done their best to entertain. Especially the children’s entertainer, Lauren!

Our rooms were cleaned daily, tea, coffee, milk & sugar always topped up as well as bedding and towels changed.

Food was ok, standard all inclusive buffet so there’s always something for everyone and again, the staff done so well keeping everyone happy and satisfied during these difficult times.

The location of this hotel was perfect for us as a family, there are a few shops and restaurants located around the hotel and a local beach around a 5 minute walk away. Fig tree bay beach/the strip is a 15 minute walk, 5 minutes in the car (we hired cars due to having young children) parking was a plenty along the main protaras strip and at fig tree bay beach. Again this was due to there being hardly any tourism due to COVID.

Overall this was the best family holiday we have had in years!!

We had a 3 nights all inclusive package for a really good deal. It was THAT good that we decided on the last day to extend our stay for another day. Usually when we stay in hotels in another city we take the opportunity to look around town, visit other places or try different restaurants but we were so pleased with the atmosphere here we literally didn't move from our hotel! The eating experience (buffet) was phenomenal. Any cypriot that says the food isnt tasty or its crap, has a real problem. The food was delicious on so many levels, well prepared Cypriot cuisine, both in quantity and most importantly quality. There was 4 or 5 kinds of cold salads, same for the meats and same for vegetables and pasta, bread was awesome, was probably a french ciabatta of some sort. It was all tasty. Amd the fact we could order and eat/drink anythinf throughout the day was incredible. We'd just be lazy by the pool all day drinking, eating, playing pool or ping pong. The staff were quite friendly and very helpful. We even had a laugh with some of them. Reception staff alao ratger friendly and helpful. The manager was quite concerned with a matter we had and was quite considerate of our situation. Its a nice, tidy, clean hotel that has kept up with the sanitising protocols post-covid. Only 2 minor issues: cleaning in rooms needs to be slightly more meticulous when it comes to cleaning off stains and social distancing has to be stricter as guests seem to be living on another planet, they don't realise the situation we are in. Overall you don't need to be in a 5star setting to enjoy quality and pleasure. Absolutely recommended and we are definitely coming to stay again.

Stayed there for 10 days between 20-30th of September on one of my many trips to protaras. We have throughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet big. The pool is of a decent size and very clean and there are tons of loungers so no need to go down early and be selfish 😉. The room was very clean and was cleaned daily. A bit outdated and could do with a bit modernisation but nevertheless clean and has a TV, Water kettle , little fridge, and a safe. The shower is decent although the shower certain needs to be a bit longer to prevent splashing. One thing missing was the topping up of shower gel and hand soap, as was never replaced once, for me with a car isn’t a problem as I bought my own, but for those without might be an issue. The air con could be better, but to be fair they gave us a spare key to keep the air con running all day so can’t complain. The restaurant was huge and very clean, and sanitation stations everywhere. The food was very nice and plentiful choice of salads and meats was looking lovely. One thing I have noticed is that the staff were very friendly and seemed eager to help without exceptions and seemed very motivated and always smiled and greeted you which is nice to see. We even asked if we could stay a bit longer as our flights were late and the manager immediately agreed at no extra cost. I must say this is a well managed and run place and a credit to the manager and all the staff, with a bit more investment this could even be a 4-5 stars. I would certainly stay again and recommend. 👍👍👍

We stayed for two nights. Super friendly reception staff and all staff around the hotel. The room was nice, but what i really liked was the buffet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was really nice, and the kitchen were able to accommodate dietary requirements which was really nice. The pool was big and lots of sun loungers. Free parking right outside. All the staff wore face masks and made us feel really safe. Hand sanitiser was made available throughout the whole hotel! Really great stay

As long as you remember this is a 3 star hotel you will not be disappointed . Breakfast was very good apart from the toaster which needs to be replaced . One of the only hotels of any star rating where we have had fresh orange juice at breakfast , and a good choice of other items. The rooms had everything you needed except anywhere to plug anything in , we usually unplugged the tv to charge things so we got by . The hotel was very quiet while we were there and is in a good location , walkable to the sea front path and the beaches . A pleasant stay overall , a good option if you are on a budget .

Booked at short notice for the last week of October as an escape from the UK. Never been to Cyprus before.

This is a comfortable 3 star hotel on the edge of a nice resort. It is near to some really good restaurants and there is a Boardwalk along the seafront into the main town.

I have read complaints about the food here but can't for the life of me understand why. My wife usually struggles to find things she wants to eat when we are away but had no problem here. Considering we were there for the last week of the season the food was flavourful and reasonably varied even though there were not that many guests. Toastie and pizza by the pool were popular in afternoons

The staff were great from the housekeeping staff who kept the hotel extremely clean to the various hospitality staff who were always checking you had a drink. Special mention to Hristo here who always made a point of talking to all the guests, young and old, as he went about his work.

We enjoyed our visit and intend to go back to this hotel with our kids next year.

Worst hotel experience ever. We have booke there for a single night and checked in at approximately 4pm. 30 minjtes After checking another customer opened the door of our room with their card and claimed to be in the same room as us. We went to the reception and it took them 2 hours to realize what they did and how to fix it. After finally checking in, the room wasn't clean, the sound proofing of ther room wasn't bad and generally the hotel was not worth the 100 euros per night. On the next morning, we went to breakfast at 10:25 to realize that the staff was picking up the food before the time that it was supposed to pick it up (10:30). I asked someone to eait for teo minutes to out some food and his response was "good luck in finding a plate".
I would avoid this hotel at any cost.

The hotel is in a good location, close to the beach but also close to the main strip too. The pool area is fabulous, clean and plenty loungers. The staff around the pool are so attentive to your needs, happy to help when needed, nothing is a bother. Buffet meals have a good variety and they cater for meat eaters, vegetarians and kids too. Tasty food which at times is hard to find at times when all-inclusive. The hotel is very clean, cleaners come to your room every day if you wish, change the towels and bedding if needed too. The manager was happy for us to have a longer check out time with no extra cost too, as we weren't leaving till 6pm. Very very clean. Only slight negative was the decor in the room as it needed refreshing, cupboards needed changing but because of COVID this may have stopped them doing this. Hotel is a 3* but slight adjustments could see this hotel 4* and it has the potential to become a 5*. Would definitely go back next year. Thanks for a fabulous stay.

Stayed for a long weekend at end of August 2020. Great location, minutes walk from Fig Tree Bay beach/ Sunrise Beach. Worth waking up early to watch the sunrise from the beach because you get a perfect view from the end of the road of this hotel. The hotel itself and rooms were nice - basic but clean, with friendly staff. I asked to change from first room with car park view to a higher room that overlooked the pool and the manager was warm and accommodating and sorted this no problem. Bar staff were also friendly. The only downfall, though small in comparison to the overall stay, was the middle aged blonde lady with heavy eye-liner at reception. She was quite cold and although she’d get help eventually, she came across quite unfriendly. On the 2nd morning I greeted her with a smile and “Good morning” and she replied “Yes?”, straight/faced, moody and glancing at me over her glasses! She was a very small part of our experience, my son had a great time and I would revisit this hotel but that receptionist needs lessons in hospitality. All other receptionists treated us as you’d expect to be treated - like you are not an irritation to them by enquiring about a key to the safe!)
Food was basic but tasty, pretty much as you’d expect from an all inclusive hotel. Not a lot of choice if you’re vegan (I’m not vegan, just observant!)
Swimming pool area and loungers were clean, even when busy. Great for the kids. Night entertainment not good but it could have been because it was so close to end of season (kids about to return to school). There is a Water park hotel 5 min walk away, not a massive park for thrill seeking but suitable for kids of all ages. Usual souvenir shops on the Protaras strip towards the beach plus restaurants etc (basically, you may want to venture out as this is a hotel not a whole resort)
Overall good experience and the weather was gorgeous!

Hotel is in good location not too far from smaller, not too noisy and overcrowded beaches. It's a bit outdated and could use a renovation, especially of bathrooms and playground.
Pool and bar are fine with plenty of sunbeds and tables always available.
Food is excellent all tasted lovely and so many selections, even that there were not many guests at the time of our stay. So I am horrified that people complain even at food. Spoiled brats...
Drinks have a wide selection including cocktails to soft drinks and coffee drinks all taste great.
There is some entertainment such as pool aerobics, yoga and minidisco and karaoke at night, but the music and mic are set too loud and most people don't realize they can't sing at all...
Rooms could be modernised a tad along with some maintenance as our sink was leaking a bit.
The staff is very very nice, always friendly and polite.
Overall we had a great family vacation with kids and this hotel was an excellent value for money.
