My wife and I are currently staying at the Sunrise Pearl, Cyprus. This was a birthday gift from me to my wife which had been postponed twice due to Covid. We are two days in and still cannot seem to get a sun bed anywhere near the adult pool. We have only been offered something either on the sand amongst what can only be described as rubble or beside the baby pool away from the main area. We have paid premium to stay in a junior suite but in hindsight should have saved our money instead. In theory the sun-bed allocation seems a good idea however it can also ruin your holiday due to the unfair allocation. Many sun beds lay empty all day however if they have been allocated then they are off limits. The hotel boasts a five star rating but unfortunately it’s grossly over rated and in our opinion it scrapes a four and that’s being generous. The hotel does not even provide drinking water around the pool unless you pay above £2 for a bottle. There seems to be a very flat atmosphere, there is absolutely nothing going on, we are just sat here staring at each other hoping and waiting for something to happen. The drinks staff are just standing around with nothing to do because the drinks are so expensive no one is ordering anything. We had two diet cokes yesterday and they cost over £10 and it was only the pump type cola served in a plastic cup which the ice was already melted and dissolved by the time we got them. (Hardly five star) We packed nice clothes for evening expecting a dress code for dinner however this was also a waste of time as it seems that anything goes dress wise, there is no dress code. Having said all of the above, I cannot criticise the staff, we have found them to be extremely hard working professional and polite. It’s just a shame that the overall system just doesn’t quite work. This is our third time here between the Sunrise Beach and the Pearl and sorry to say possibly the last.

Like most people we booked to go to this hotel based on reviews. This was our first family trip with our 5 month old, we cannot fault the hotel grounds, location, staff, beach and food. Cons The thing that would make this hotel 5* is the rooms and a bathroom refurbishment, we’ve been to a lot of 5* hotels in our time and found the rooms fairly basic, our bathroom we did not find the cleanest, the fooors were fairly grubby under the sink and most of the sealant was quite dirty. Sadly on our last day we paid for late checkout at 4pm, we were running slightly late (4.10pm) due the baby needing a nappy change, while mid changing the baby we had a male member of staff knock on our door, when we opening the door he walked straight in without saying a word and just stood in our room until we left a few minutes later. Both me and my partner felt extremely uncomfortable that 1 he proceeded to enter the room without saying a word but 2 enter and stay in the room while our baby girl was being changed? I’m not sure if this is usual practice however I will be making a formal complaint. I would suggest upgrading to a sea view, unfortunately we didn’t have the option too but paid for a side view, the original room we were given was awful and pretty much overlooked another building. We did request to move and we’re given a room on a higher level and with a better sea view m Pros If your looking for a hotel with a beautiful beach and central location then this is the place to be. We dined at the waterfall restaurant as well as all the dine around restaurants and can honestly not fault the food at all, the portion sizes were huge. The drinks in the hotel were slightly costly (to be expected) around €9 cocktails and €30 euros for a half decent bottle of wine, €2.50 for a small bottle of water a however the mini fridge in your room is stocked with a few small bottles of water each day, there’s also plenty of supermarkets around to grab big bottles of water for under €1 We found the sunbed allocation a great addition, by 10am the beds around the pool were still half empty as no one was rushing around which made the mornings of the holiday a lot less stressful and more chilled, it would be good for more hotels to do something like this as we found it worked very well. All the staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Hopefully the situation with the male member of staff can be explained / rectified and hopefully we would return sometime in the future.

Stayed at this hotel with a wedding party (wedding at a different venue) with family and friends. To summarise-hotel position perfectly positioned near the strip but set that you wouldn’t know. Beach on door step. Outdoor maintained very well. Sunbeds allocated(it does work). Pools clean. Hotel and rooms very clean. Hotel staff from reception to cleaners to restaurant staff faultless. Food very good. Would I stay again, without hesitation. Quick mention if the management read these reviews Vera on reception went above and beyond to help with any requests we had and I think the young lady in the restaurant Hose name maybe Irini every day welcomes you with the biggest smile. Thanks for a marvellous holiday

Just back from another fantastic holiday at Sunrise Pear, by far the best hotel in Protaras, staff and management first class, cannot do enough for you!! Excellent location, sun beds allocated on arrival and they are yours for the duration of your holiday, if you can’t get the ones you want the staff will take a note and let you know when they are free, I wish all hotels allocated sunbeds, food was excellent, great choice and you also have a dine around option where you can choose from their 6 restaurants out with the hotel which are all excellent especially marcellos , lemongrass and Reef Bar, cannot wait to return next year, thanks again to all the staff and management

The hotel is on one of Europe’s top blue flag beach. It’s a shame that one of the best hotel’s I’ve ever stayed on is on the Protaras strip. Protaras itself is a bit Blackpool and very British, with bars open until 3am and Burger king, KFC, Pizza hut, costa etc. However, it didn’t really affect us as we had a sea view room, and didn’t hear a peep, and we didn’t mind the odd stroll down the strip to go for a drink or try a restaurant, but it wasn’t really us, we prefer more authentic culture. Check in was amazing, with great bell boy service taking our bags to our room, and pink champagne whilst we checked in, it was all so smooth and the reception area and reception staff are lovely. This became a theme throughout our whole stay, every single staff member from the cleaner to the manager was so friendly, professional and helpful, all went out of their way to make the stay perfect, and a real 5 star experience. The stand out staff member was Angelos the food and beverage manager, no matter if it was breakfast, lunch or dinner, all 7 days he was always there, being funny, friendly, chatty and making sure that the eating experience went like clockwork. The food at this hotel was probably the best thing about it, I have experienced numerous European all inclusive buffets etc at hotels and this smashed them all. Breakfast at The Waterfall was spot on with every hot and cold dish at the buffet you could ask for, constantly being topped up by the chefs so it was full and fresh always. Lunch at the pool side Minstral restaurant (not buffet) was always spot on, perfect selection of foods from hot meals, to lovely sandwiches, paninis, toasties, wraps etc. With half board you can decide at lunch if you would like your lunch as the included meal (if you were eating out of the hotel), or dinner included. Dinner at the Waterfall buffet restaurant was our favourite by far. On the first night whilst tired and weary we went down to the buffet to ‘grab a quick bite’ as I thought it was like other evening hotel buffets, boy was I wrong! The views over the sea are stunning, the perfect violin being played over the sunset, and the food that was not like any buffet I have seen before. This certainly was not mass produced or low quality, it was very fine cuisine in smaller refined quantities that was stunning, and the chefs were on hand to tell you about each dish. The variety was perfect, we always wanted everything, and the food tasted out of this world, probably the tastiest food I’ve ever eaten. All I would say however is we rarely saw any children at the evening buffet, and I can see why given the fine dining atmosphere and fine foods, it may not be so good for people with children, but couples will love it. We tried the American restaurant which is at the hotel next door and that wasn’t too great, just ok with average service and food, but next time would be good to try the others that you can use once during your stay. We tried 2 of the best rated private restaurants on the strip and weren’t impressed, so to be honest you may as well save your money and stick to the hotel restaurants, with most being on the strip anyway! The service at the table no matter if it was at breakfast, lunch or dinner was nearly always impeccable, with staff always on hand to take your plate as soon as you’ve finished, or top up your drink. I have to say this is the best service I’ve ever received at a restaurant, and this was the case every meal, apart from one morning at breakfast when it was super busy. The staff also have real character and personality, they have light hearted banter that is just perfect and rare to find abroad, special mention to Anna and Aggelki. The quality of the drinks at all bars and restaurants was superb, all UK branded spirits etc and made to a really high quality. The liquid pool bar during the day by the pool was superb, very friendly staff namely Mirella who was always making the highest quality cocktails with a smile, and I think she made more soya milk love potions that week than she has in her whole career. There isn’t really much in the way of evening entertainment or drinks, just a dead quiet small seating area bar beside the main restaurant, and a new bar in a large tent the hotel have opened by the main entrance on the strip which was a bit better. However not really an issue as the Protarus strip is full of evening entertainment and bars if that is your thing. The games room in the basement does have a table tennis table, snooker table, arcade machine and ice hockey, but all are in pretty poor state with broken table tennis balls, and broken snooker ques with no chalk available. The games room didn’t appear very child friendly with open inspection holes with wires etc exposed, and a door open to a service tunnel. The room also needed some jazzing up and making child friendly, it was literally just a large soleless room with plain white walls, very bare and felt a bit creepy to be honest, if I had children I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want them down there alone. This room needs some investment, which wouldn’t be hard or expensive. We had a sea view room in the main block, on floor 3. There are 5 floors in total, and the higher you go the better the views of the sea, but our view on floor 3 was still stunning. The cleanliness of the room was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel. The room and balcony looked spotless and brand new, they cleaned and changed the towels once every morning and a mini clean/towel change whilst you were at evening dinner, cleaning was so good. Despite being built 10 years ago, the room was still perfectly modern and elegant, and the beds and pillows were sooo comfy and like a fluffy cloud. Now comes the bad points that to be honest made this a 4 star review instead of 5 star. The biggest issue is the rooms in reality do not have air conditioning!! If the patio door is open, the air conditioning will turn off which I understand and is fine. However, there is also a room PIR sensor in the main room, and if you aren’t moving around the main room, the air conditioning turns off! This is absolutely absurd and so tight/money pinching giving the price we have paid for the room in a 5 star hotel, and I actually thought they were joking when they told me, I’ve never seen this in any hotel before. This issue meant when you came back from a day at the beach, the room was boiling hot, and yep you guessed it, at night when you’re sleeping no air conditioning either unless you can walk in your sleep! We were sweltering at night and I had to pay €70 in total to get a taxi to a large supermarket to buy a fan for the room, so we can try and sleep, I dread to think what the heat would be like in the height of summer. I raised this with reception who didn’t really have much of an answer. The whole time we were there, the room temperature never got below 23 degrees, which for an ‘air conditioned room’ in a 5 star hotel is dreadful. A few other issues included paper thin walls/ceilings meaning we were woken up day/night by people above or next door. The bathroom sinks do not have plug hole stops so no shaving in the sink, and the shower screen leaked when showering causing the bathroom to flood every time, all it needed was some fresh sealant. The adult pool and other pools were really pleasant and heated to a perfect temperature. The beach and sea are stunning, the best sand and clearest water I’ve ever seen and so shallow for a long way out, it really is heaven and paradise. The only issue is that we visited in June and the sea water is freezing, probably about 22 degrees, it really took your breath away when you attempted to get in, but was the classic ‘it’s alright once you’re in’, although I would much prefer it in August when it’s warmer! I would recommend a trip to Malmo Beach (15 min taxi ride) to hire a boat from the water sports centre there, it was amazing and we took our boat to the Blue Lagoon and swam/snorkelled in crystal clear waters that looked like the Caribbean. Sun beds within the hotel premises are allocated to you at the start of your stay and remain yours for your whole stay, which is incredible and to be honest a big reason to make us come back as we love laying in and not having to worry about reserving a sunbed at 7am! I went down to the pool attendant on our 1st day and managed to nab some lovely sunbeds on the sandy area on the front row facing the sea which was perfect, we had such a good front row view of the whole beach and sea. The blue sun beds/umbrellas on the beach are property of the local council, and chargeable at €2.50 per a sunbed/umbrella per a day, however given the spot we had there was no need to use them. The hotel use a taxi firm called Go Taxi that are so friendly, reliable and great rates who can be trusted. Just on a similar note, for the airport transfer to/from I booked a private car transfer with HolidayTaxi’s prior to our trip, who were great, cheap and we got picked up from Larnaca Airport in a nice new Mercedes estate car. On another note, I had a medical emergency whilst on holiday overnight, and my partner frantically pressed the red ‘emergency’ button on the room telephone, however there was no answer and in the end she called 112 emergency number for paramedics. Eventually a night porter answered on the usual reception line number but by that point an Ambulance was on the way, but it’s not ideal that this emergency button didn’t get a good response, especially if there was something like an intruder in the room/hotel etc. Overall, we had a lovely holiday and were made to feel VIP’s the whole time we were there, with impeccable service from the staff who really made the holiday, along with the food. It is a real shame though about the room and the air conditioning, as it would certainly make us question spending the high price tag for the hotel again, which is real shame.

We had an amazing holiday at this hotel. On arrival the room wasn't to our taste as it faced the noise of the main street in Protaras so we asked to be moved and was moved to a quieter room the following day. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and management team they delivered an excellent service and we were very happy the whole trip. The food was excellent and there was a good choice for all tastes. The restaurant manager, Angelos, was always on his toes and never stopped making sure that everyone was happy. The cleanliness was second to none. The description in the brochure says they have rooms with a garden view but it isn't as it may sound. The hotel rooms face another hotel instead. The garden is there but you cannot see it very well. The sunbeds are allocated to you on arrival so there is no need to rush down for one in the morning a great idea! There are a good array of restaurants that are available for guests to use instead of having your evening meal in the hotel see pictures attached. They are all excellent from the fish restaurant to the Italian or Asian. The entertainment is at their sister hotel next door and we have suggested that they make a piano room in the downstairs bar area as it would be easier for people who don't want or can't walk too far to enjoy some drinks and light music after their evening meal. All in all it was worth every penny and we would both recommend this hotel to couples and families alike.

Very clean hotel with good service in an excellent location on the beach. Well deserving of it's star rating. Rooms are spacious. Excellent sun lounger allocation that all hotels should copy. You choose loungers then keep them for the whole of your stay; other hotels could take note. We mainly ate out, so won't comment on the restaurants other than to say that breakfast was good with many choices of food and staff were attentive.

Where to start. We have already visited the sister locations in Protaras, they are excellent the sunrise Pearl is just as good. Despite a very late arrival, the welcome was excellent and efficient. Rooms are clean, modern and well maintained. All rooms are cleaned twice daily and nothing is too much trouble. Dine around restaurant plan works well with great choices. The sun bed allocation system is first class. Importantly ALL staff are polite and efficient. We will return.

Spent a fab week here for our honeymoon. We booked a swim up junior suite. Everything about this hotel is excellent especially the reserved sunbeds for your stay and the dine around option. We visited the Italian, pan Asian, Brazilian and the American themed restaurants and loved all of them but the pan Asian was our favourite. Every member of hotel staff were polite and so cheery . Will definitely be returning
