Kapetanios Bay Hotel in Protaras has garnered appreciation for its immaculate condition and daily room service. The well-appointed rooms, complete with air conditioning, satisfy many guests, although noise and bathroom cleanliness have been points of contention. While the pool and breakfast spread are highlights, some find room for improvement in beverage choices and bathroom dimensions.

Just returned from a 2 week stay. We had asked for a room overlooking the strip and were given exactly what we had requested. We arrived late but check in was extremely quick and hassle free. Our room was well equipped with air con and safe included in the price plus a bottle of water and tea and coffee. The bathroom is on the small side although this was never a problem as only one of us used the bathroom at a time. Cleaners were excellent and towels changed every day. The hotel is perfectly located near to lots of bars, restaurants, shops with even a McDonalds right next door. The beach is a pleasant 10 minute stroll away. The music is loud from the surrounding bars but this was never a problem for us and things would generally quiet down around 1.30 am. The pool area is immaculate. There are plenty of sunbeds available and getting one was never a problem although as our holiday wore on, some people started getting up at silly o’clock to secure their favoured beds. Weekends around the pool are particularly busy with lots of local Cypriot families and young people visiting the hotel, especially on a Sunday, but this was never an issue and added to the atmosphere around the pool as a DJ plays on a Sunday. We were bed and breakfast and there were lots of choices to suit every taste and the food was good and replenished frequently served from 7.30 -10 am. The staff are very hard working, friendly and will do what they can to help. We requested a late check out which we managed to get at a cost of 25 euros and we kept the room on until 7pm. If this is not available then you can book a shower room and keep your luggage in a holding room. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel with amazing food and lovely staff! We stayed for 10 nights all inclusive and the staff and service were amazing. Breakfast had plenty of hot options (sausages and scrambled eggs were perfect) as well as a selection of cereals, fruit and cold items. Our lunch came from with a varied snack menu (burgers, toasties, omelettes, pizza etc) or a larger lunch menu with more main options, starters and deserts. Evening meals were varied although not a huge selection there was something to suit everyone, with some themed nights and a fresh soup daily. Drink selection was large and the bar/restaurant staff were always quick and friendly. Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels, even on days we put up DND signs in the am and then removed it they came in and cleaned late in the day! The rooms were spacious with a good bathroom, decent sized balcony and effective air con that cools the whole room.Pool area was spotless and although busy some days (weekends) there were plenty of sunbeds to go around. There are some complaints about noise however this didn’t bother us as we went out at night and had a pool side room, the hotel is located in a fantastic location with bars and restaurants around so noise is to be expected however what we did hear was on the balcony and stopped as soon as the door was shut.

A 10 day stay from Oct 7 bed & breakfast, most important thing the weather was great 29c + every day. Don't always believe the internet wether websites, we had a late Check in, my room & key card waiting for me at reception no passports or documents to show nothing to sign simple, my room was on 4th floor, the bathroom a little small but perfectly clean & adequate for our needs, beds were comfortable and House keeping every day and very clean too, no kitchen just a kettle, the safe was also included most other hotels charge for this, The breakfast was great I couldn't fault it excellent choice from hot stuff to cold meats and cheeses to yogurts & fruit, cake, mini croissants with chocolate sauce, cereal, and all your bread and jams the list goes on, if we had had to go out and buy breakfast it would almost probably be over 150 EUR for Both of us for our stay so can't complain, we didn't dine at the hotel in the evening so i can't comment on that. The pool area was most impressive however I thought the pool bar was a little expensive for food & drinks ( there was a McDonald's right opposite the hotel) yet again most people would put there towels on the sun loungers but I only used the pool area a few times, The sea was absolutely amazing so warm it was very busy and couldn't always get a lounger or umbrella €2.50 for each you had to get there early, the location of the hotel was perfect probably 8min walk to the beach, the complex was ideal for people with mobility issues with ramps and 2 elevators one small and a much larger one big enough for a wheelchair, also mobility scooter were available to hire but not sure from the hotel though. Had a lovely holiday, I thought mostly suited for older couples and families if you want a more lively holiday with clubs and more bars and are much younger 18+ go to ayia Napa area much more lively I think, great restaurants which are fairly priced good sized portions,if you go self catering there was a Lidl (not far to walk ) I thought a little expensive compared to the UK, there were plenty of other supermarkets The best buy was pretty reasonable, especially for some alcoholic drinks they even offer to open the bottles for you if you want, oh and cigarettes from € 4 a pack The area of protaras was a little run down and needs a bit of attention especially the pavement areas so do be careful a very good bus service ran so you can explore future if you want, I would return to the hotel again and think it was great value for money.

We’ve just returned from an absolutely fantastic 2 week holiday in Protaras, Cyprus (Sept 2024) where we stayed on a Bed & Breakfast basis at the Kapetanios Bay Hotel. As a disabled holiday maker, I am cautious as to where we book our holidays but with the Kapetanios Bay Hotel, I was not left disappointed as most facilities were met. The rooms were just great and facilities around the hotel were exemplary. The hotel was really amazing and brilliant value, and so much so, we are already in the process of booking back there for next year!
Hotel Great location situated towards the top of the ‘Protaras Strip’ which is the main epicentre of activity for bars, restaurants and a variety of different shops and great access to the top road which has a number of lovely for bars and restaurants and is also a short walk to the promenade and gorgeous beach. All areas were pleasantly decorated and kept spotlessly clean with staff being so helpful.
Staff All staff here have been absolutely first class, fantastic and have made our holiday so complete! Quite honestly, as my first time in Cyprus, I have never experienced such wonderful, helpful, warming and lovely staff anywhere else I have been in the world and with a hospitality that is so natural and absolutely first class, I cannot thank them all enough! I have listed below, ALL the staff we have had dealings with, and ALL have been just superb.
Reception/Management Mr Mavrikios (Hotel Manager), Nicholas, Natalie and Chrystalla.
Pool Bar Xenauis, Kyriakos, Giannis and Ghana.
Restaurant Tomys Pyliotis, Yablena, Liliana, Marianna, Rai, Bijay and Rabin.
Kitchen Veselina, Zooula and Christina.
Cleaning/Rooms Eleni
Deck Coffee Shop Marios
Rooms Plenty large enough with comfortable beds, adequate facilities for most people’s needs, and well cleaned throughout and regularly. The room also had full air conditioning which was a god send!
Pool Area The pool area was just amazing with three pools, one for children, one large pool for everyone and one smaller adults only pool which facilitated a pool bar and fantastic jacuzzi. All surrounded by some great sun loungers and some amazing ‘Cabana’ 4 poster sun lounger beds.
Restaurant/Food As for the breakfasts, this was all buffet ‘help yourself’ style and provided every choice you would need for breakfast to satisfy all tastes and requirements and were absolutely delicious. If you have a sweet tooth, the croissants with Almond butter spread were to die for!
Verdict Overall, a fantastic holiday in a fantastic hotel with fantastic people. 10/10

Travelled to Cyprus under emergency circumstances with my sister when my father fell ill on holiday and was hospitalised. Nikolas the hotel manager was absolutely fantastic in helping reassure us that he was able to accommodate myself and sister at very short notice and that a room was being held for my father ready for his discharge from hospital. We were welcomed on arrival after a late flight and every single member of staff at this hotel asked about my father and made sure we knew they were there for anything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always met with smiles and friendly service. When my Dad came out of hospital with a very strict diet plan, the chef met with us and happily offered to make any meal at all that my father needed. To say that this hotel and all the staff have gone above and beyond is the very least I can say in my review. The location of the hotel is perfect to access the many bars and restaurants of Protaras and also just a few minutes walk to the beautiful beaches here. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean with daily maid service, pool towels can be hired for 10 euros which is refunded at the end of the stay. The pool area has recently been upgraded and is beautiful. Extremely comfortable sun beds, 3 pools including a gorgeous swim up pool bar. Food here is excellent quality and we enjoyed everything we ate. All in all, I could not recommend this hotel highly enough. We met many UK guests that have been coming to the resort and this accommodation regularly for years which speaks volumes. Big shout also to the wonderful Xenis and Gabi who have the Family Taxi firm that is located outside the hotel. They became good friends and were there for us with airport pickups and hospital visits. Thank you Kapetanios Bay Hotel for your care, kindness and wonderful support during a very stressful for us as a family. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Just home after a 2 week stay. We had emailed the hotel before our holiday to request a poolside quiet room. This was granted. The room was spacious (superior double) , cleaned daily with towels provided. Our cleaner was excellent. Kettle, fridge and free safe, plenty of storage, not many plug points so I took an extension lead. No complaints at all. Air conditioning was ok. Pools lovely, but very cold. Not much of a problem once in. Swim up bar. Bar staff friendly and very good. Snack menu varied and reasonably priced. Hotel is extremely central at the top and of the strip, so literally everything within minutes walking distance. Beach about a 5/10 minute walk away. We were here last year and I would say this year the hotel was far busier. People would put towels on sunbeds overnight and on our first week most beds had gone by 730am so be aware. I think this is something the hotel has to address as it is very annoying. The 2nd week was a little better but most beds were taken by 8am. It certainly wasn’t like that last year. Food was ok. We went half board and the breakfasts were great. Full English and the usual cereals yoghurt, fruit etc. evening meal wasn’t a lot of choice. It was ok but I think it can be improved and more choice offered especially as the hotel is now AI to Jet 2 customers. All in all I would say this is a great value, central hotel, clean, great pools and lovely comfortable sun beds.staff also very friendly and efficient. And I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Protaras. Just remember to email hotel before hand if you’d like a quiet room and to get up early if you want a decent sun bed by the pool.

We stayed at this hotel all inclusive we found the all inclusive not what it is everywhere else I when we turned up. We had no food to eat whatsoever was below average lunch. You had to order from a menu dinner same thing every day just with a different sauce on top, the room that we stayed in all you could hear was music very loud in your room and this is going on beyond 2 o’clock in the morning when we complain to the hotel they told me oh yeah we know this has been going off for many years and we’ve been trying to deal with it we went with Jet2 and on their site it does not mention anything about loud music to early as the morning. You also have an 18+pool kids were in the staff staff did nothing regarding this. If you wanted coffees you got cheap Nescafe sachet coffee for some reason they’re all inclusive. They don’t know the meaning of this and they’re there just to rip you off. Would I recommend this place?no if I was able to upload the recordings that I made of the noise in our room with the doors shut you would be flabbergasted so be aware of staying at this place as Jet2 don’t tell you that this has been going on for many many years and the hotel also confirm thisagain be aware

My friend and I visited here on a week long stay. We found the hotel as part of a TUI holiday pack including breakfast. The room was lovely, noisy at night from the bars on the strip but understandable and honestly very handy with everything being in a nice walking distance so it didn’t bother us. The breakfast each morning was delicious, with interchanging items, all so fresh. We enjoyed lounging at the pool, it was never too busy enough not to get a lounger and there was also the option to pay €30-50 for premium loungers if that was your thing. Shoutout to Ghana, pool waiter, he worked non stop the whole week, always so so kind and friendly… me and my friend nearly wanted to work his shift for him we felt so bad 🤣 all the staff were so pleasant and helpful, with the chef even cutting up our watermelon from the supermarket and packaging it as we didn’t have a knife lol.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 weeks bed and breakfast. Hotel looks great, pool area was fantastic. Reception staff and restaurant staff were always cheery and helpful. Breakfast - restaurant was spotlessly clean, great selection of food but hot food was disappointingly cold. Although the rooms were cleaned every day, the wash hand basin, shower screen and bath were never cleaned properly neither was the glass on the balcony. I would not stay here again despite travelling to Cyprus for more than 20 years.

My partner and I have mixed feels regarding this hotel
Pros: The hotel, rooms and pools are very clean and modern and it is a very pretty place to stay.
Most of bar staff are friendly and are constantly working hard, walking around the pools checking if you need refreshments. (Shout out to the blonde woman at the pool bar she was amazing and so hard working shame we did not catch her name)
Great location if you are wishing to be on the strip and 4 minute walking distance to the beach
Good quality food served from the pool bar
Good for people wishing for a lively holiday, not relaxing
Unfortunately we had to raise an issue with reception who then escorted us to the manager of the hotel, he was lovely and very understanding and did what he could to ensure resolve it
Cons: The noise. We were expecting it before travelling due to the location, HOWEVER, we were pool side which was meant to be the quieter side but think this must be dependent on whether you are left or right side, we was left and all we could here was 3 nearby bars competing for loudnesses, including karaoke, music and live performers every single night. Weekends were worse as this was allowed till later in the night and the hotel also took part in having live DJ/singers. So if you are going to be out most evenings or want to join in this would be fab. (Unsure if maybe travelling in august contributes to the liveliness)
Evening meal buffet is NOT worth it, we was B&B however was wanting a chilled night in so went for food thinking it was there TexMex or BBQ night, it was awful which was surprising when the food and the pool bar is always top quality.
The pool rules! Very pointless, a massive appealing point is the adults only pool which unfortunately does not exist. During our time children have been allowed in this pool even though they have the main huge pool which they take over and another small children’s pool, my partner and I even witnessed them being served chocolate milkshakes at the pool bar even though when we raised this issue we were told that the bar staff are “doing their best”. However, on our last day we did see the lifeguard ask a child to leave the adults only pool so hopefully this may be changing so adults actually have a space to try and relax.
Our main issue was the fact that the facilitates such as the sunbeds, pools, restaurants does not meet the capacity the hotel allows. This hotel should make a decision of what type of hotel it wants to be. At the moment lots of tourists like myself and my partner pay a lot of money to come and enjoy our holiday, but also local Cypriots use this hotel. as we travelled during the summer holidays, it was crazy busy! Constant sunbed wars, not relaxing, ended up spending most of our time at the beach which is a shame as we paid so much, during our time it was very much accommodated for the Cypriots
We would return to Cyprus, however sadly we would not return to this hotel, would never normally leave such a critical review however these are issues we wished we would have known before booking
