Hotel room was a nice size and very comfy. The staff were all very polite and helpful. Located right on the border line of old town where regular auto traffic is not permitted. Can't get any closer than that. Definitely would stay here again.

Hotel was dark and uninviting when we arrived at 7:30 pm. Not very many guests..if any when we were there. .Room was ok. Definitely could use some updating. Breakfast was good. The town of Appenzell is picture perfect though so our stay was definitely worth the stop.

The staff at this hotel is one of the friendliest I'v ever come across. There was a parking place right in front of the hotel. The room was very cute and had all the normal amenities. The bathroom had a tub/shower and while not huge, big than most european bathrooms. In the evening they offered fondue in their basement dating from... More

The hotel is In great shape. Many up grades except air conditioning. We had a corner room with windows on two walls, and it was late September so we had no sleeping issues. The bathroom is well appointed but needs hand soap for the shower. We had a fridge in our room but had to ask for an electric kettle.... More

Very nice place to stay, very clean, good breakfast, very friendly staff and owners. If I go back to Appenzell, this without question is where I will stay. Very close to downtown and shops. Short walk to train station.

I came back here because of the customer service. The host is very charming and informative. Everyone here seems to go the extra mile in service. The mattresses are good. I really like the fluffy down comforters. We have a room w a balcony. Don't stay here in the summer if you are sensitive to noise. The church is right... More

The Hotel Adler is a wonderful and peaceful place to stay. You need a break from your busy vacation? Come here and slow down a little. We had room 17, a very large double room on the corner, with three sets of windows, looking on the cafe, church and river. It was not noisy at all, especially since the cafe... More

The staff at Hotel Adler were extremely welcoming and helpful to us on our stay. They helped us with all the inquiries we had about transport, restaurants and the local area. The hotel is very centrally located which is perfect for exploring the city and making your onward travel by train. We stayed in the large suite which was great!... More

A small hotel on the edge of the pedestrian zone of the old town. Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the patio and bridge. A pleasant if basic room with twin beds. What makes this hotel special are the people who own it, nothing is too much trouble and so friendly.

I had a twin room at the front, overlooking the terrace. The hotel is on the edge of the old town, next to the Catholic Cathedral and the river. The room was comfortable, with a small en-suite. I slept with the double-glazed windows closed so was not disturbed by the church bells, though this might be an issue for some... More

“Front (north) has good views of the square but on that side and on the west side there may be some noise from the church bells.”

“For our last three days, we enjoyed the suite. The windows look out to main street and can be noisy on week-ends. Personally, I liked that activity. For our first two days, a double room was the perfect place for us to work through jet lag. It was on the alley side which worked well for sleeping ten hours our first night.”

“If you can get one with a balcony, you may prefer it. The temperature was in the 70s when I stayed there but there was no AC in my room. I will still very comfortable.”
