The trip was great. We were met by Tammy elf who was lovely and guided through to make gingerbread. The kids loved this and the letters to Santa. However, older kids noticed that they would’ve been driven to Santa rather then by magic! Santa was lovely, but it was a shame he wasn’t given more information in advance from parents. This would have meant that he knew about the children in advance. The reindeer ride was great but extremely cold. Few opportunities were available for photos with the reindeers and Santa’s truck… a caravan. We waited outside for the other family to come back which took a while, so the kids became restless and outdoors it was too cold by this point at-20! May be some Christmas songs in Elf base would have been good. A great experience, but very expensive.

Whilst we didn’t stay here (next time!) we had the most amazing 2 excursions with Northern Lights Village. Firstly, the searching for Santa excursion was the most magical experience ever! From being picked up by an elf, to baking gingerbread cookies, writing letters to Santa, reindeer rides, elves base camp and camp fires, snowball fights and finding Santa’s cabin in the woods - just incredible! Secondly, the huskies were amazing - albeit extremely cold in minus 26! My 4 yr old son accidentally left his teddy ‘monkey’ in the elves house for a sleepover, and it was there waiting for us at reception the day after! Completely, utterly faultless experiences and we cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: If it’s minus 20 or colder, don’t do the longer husky ride, it’s just too brutally cold!

We came here for our honeymoon on November 20th 2021. We were the only guests on our first day there so it was surreal, so quaint and so romantic. Everyone at the reception desk was amazing and so helpful….the food was so delicious….the guys who took us on a guided snowshoe tour, snowmobile and the heated sleigh were so fun to talk to. We’re deaf but my husband was able to carry a conversation with them even with their Finnish accent 😊It was our first time visiting Finland from our home state of Colorado USA. We were really sad to leave because thanks to losing 2 days due to plane delays and missed connection flights-we wished we had more time there. Sadly we only saw a little bit of the Northern Lights the first night and we didn’t see it again for the remainder of our stay there. We were so bummed because it took us one year to save up for this trip. We booked the Aurora Romantic package deal. We are saving up our money again because we’d like to go back for a “re-do” honeymoon *hopefully, keeping our fingers crossed for good deals on flights* but for a longer stay and hopefully see better chances of seeing the Northern Lights in September or October one year. Thanks so much for your hospitality.

We came with another family for a 5 day trip to see the northern lights and play in the snow. The staff was amazing in all aspects. They became friends with our kids and provided a wonderful energy to our experience. The snow clothes provided was better than I expected. Basically a snow coat/pants suit, warm boots (that fit my size 48 foot), and mittens that kept my hands warm. At -13 C my kids needed fleece jacket/pants or thermals that we brought, but we're able to play for 60-90 minutes before coming inside to warm up (or get food) We choose the full board option and we're glad we did. The meals had adventurous options and served buffet style. Lots of fish and raindeer. Always soup and vegetarian options. Our son has a lot of random allergies and the chief would cook chicken or fish in just olive oil to accommodate his diet. We also provided sweet potatoes, a major staple in his diet (knowing they might now be a part of the daily menu). We got the family adventure package with our stay. Im pretty sure it save us money on the whole experience. It was nice to have all our activities start at the main lodge. The best part was the easy way the schedule was prepared for us. I didn't have to do anything but review the agenda and show up on time. I'd highly recommend the Northern Lights Village.
